Hello dear readers. Did you miss Amar and Vennela?

I have decided to write a bonus chapter. Amar's first birthday after marrying Vennela.

---***---

Amar's POV:

Tomorrow is my 28th birthday. I haven't celebrated my birthday in three years. But I'm sure there will be lots of celebrations tomorrow. The first birthday I will be celebrating with my moonlight. I'm sure she is planning a big surprise for me.

How can I be so sure, you ask? Because I haven't seen her and the kids since morning.

They must be busy conducting secret meetings. My moonlight will see that everything is perfect.

My cute and adorable moonlight. I can't believe she is the same girl who friendzoned me nine months ago. Six months after that, she confessed her love to me with the best confession speech. And I was kicked, punched and almost killed by everyone who read Harshi's story for my 'December Fool' joke. (You do remember that. Don't you?)

To be honest I am lucky, I got to marry her twice. Don't tell her I said that. Because I always keep teasing her saying 'You were so desperate to marry me.' Her face turns red like a tomato. A very cute tomato I must say.

Let's have some fun. While my darling wife and her assistants plan a surprise for me, I'll  search their rooms for hidden gifts and hide them in my closet.

Mission FHG. Wondering what it stands for? By now you must have got a clear idea about my mission abbreviations.

Starting with Rudy's room. This room looks like there has been a war going on here. Was my room this untidy before marriage? Maybe it was. Vennu changed me from an ill-mannered kid to well-mannered man.

Where the hell did this boy hide the gifts? Did he forget my birthday? I will break his bones if he did. No no, Amar Pratap. What are you doing? Concentrate on the mission.

Found it. What's this? Perfume? Great. Now walk away slowly without causing suspicion. Yes! Did it.

And I know where my moonlight must have hidden her gift. In the library. Let me go and check. My beautiful library. It's like a place of worship for me. Let me take my shoes off. Now start searching. Yes! A new blazer. Perfect gift. I love it. Let's go and hide it in my room. Don't tell my wife. Let her be shocked when she comes here tomorrow.

Now, where is she? "Vennu, what are you doing?"

"Cooking. Where were you? Come on. Chop onions." She gave me the chopping board.

"Why should I chop onions always?" I tried to protest.

"How can you see your wife cry, Amar? Isn't a single tear drop shed from my eyes equal to thousand needles piercing your heart?" She asked.

"So poetic. But it's my birthday tomorrow. I won't work." I reminded her. Now I'm sure she will pretend not to hear me. She has to pretend that she forgot my birthday till the surprise party.

"Of course I remember it's your birthday tomorrow. But you never celebrate your birthdays. I remember you said 'birthdays are overrated'." She said, shocking me. Does that mean she didn't plan any surprise? No party? It's okay. At least she got me a beautiful gift.

"Vadina" I hear Rudy call her. "Vadina, where is the blazer you said you bought for me?"

"What?!! For you?" Another shock.

"Yes. I have a school reunion next week." Rudy answered.

"Anirudh, it's in the library. I went straight to library after coming home yesterday. I put the bag there and forgot to give it to you." She informed him.

My wife stabbed me in the heart mercilessly. Wives make so many promises before marriage and don't bother to keep them after marriage.

At least my brother got me perfume. My amazing brother. I love him.

"All set for reunion?" My heart-stabbing wife asked my amazing brother.

"Yes. Got new shoes, watch and perfume." He answered.

"I think I misheard you. Did you just say perfume?" I asked him.

"Yes. It's in my room." He answered. Did I just call him amazing brother? He is a complete idiot.

"Bava" I hear the twins call me. Shruthi followed them.

They are my last hope for a surprise birthday party. "Rishi, Raj and Shruthi. Our lives have become so boring. We didn't have a celebration in ages." I tried telling them indirectly.

"What celebration? Only two months ago, you married Vennu akka for the second time" said Rishi.

"Are you planning another wedding or what?" Raj asked. The twins exchanged high-five.

"Bava garu, we would have had a huge birthday celebration tomorrow. But you declared that you don't celebrate your birthday. We didn't want to hurt you by doing something you dislike." Shruthi explained.

How do I tell them that I badly want a celebration? Forget it. Let me have fun at least. Let me buy new sunglasses. I opened an online shopping website. I came across a product which has only three pieces left in stock.

"Wow! Anna, this is so nice. Buy one for me" said Rudy.

"Me too" said Raj.

"Me three" said Rishi.

They snatched my phone and placed the order. "Yeah! Congrats boys. You will get stylish sunglasses by tomorrow. It's not like I opened the website because I wanted to buy them myself." I said sarcastically.

"You are so sweet bava" said Raj.

"As sweet as Rasgulla" said Rishi.

"Don't ever say that again. I'm not Rasgulla. I hate that sweet." I said, while Rudy and Vennu laughed. "Don't you ever study? Where are your books? Exams are a month away and no one bothers to open books."

"Bava garu. Relax. We will go and read. Come on boys." Shruthi dragged the twins away. Through the corner of my eye, I saw Rudy wink at her. Shameless boy. Maybe not that shameless. He learnt it from me.

I slept early convincing myself that 'Tomorrow is just another day. Nothing special.'

---***---

"I'm sorry" Vennu apologized for spilling coffee on my shirt.

"That's okay Vennela" I called her by her full name because she didn't even wish me 'Happy birthday'.

"Go and change." She said. Is that a suppressed smile on her face?

"Okay." I started climbing staircase. I learnt my lesson. I advice you. Never tell your life partner that you don't like celebrating birthdays. They will take it seriously and--

Oh my Dumbledore! There is a gift here on my bed with a note.

My darling husband,

Birthdays might be overrated. But my husband's birthday is always special to me. No one can stop me from celebrating this day. Not even the mighty Amar Pratap.

-Moonlight.

I don't know how many times I read it. But it still holds the same feel. My wife has this amazing talent of making my lips curve into a smile. I opened it to see the same blazer I found in the library yesterday. I wore it. I went near the dressing table to comb my hair. I found another gift there.

Anna, It's not a perfume. It's a time saver. You don't have to take bath everyday if you use this.

Only my amazing brother can write this kind of note. I applied the perfume and got ready. I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to see Rishi-Raj and Shruthi holding gifts. Shruthi's gift was a baseball bat. I liked it. The twins gave me a pair of stylish shoes.

"Vennu akka is waiting for you." The twins said in unison. Shruthi recorded everything.

When I reached the living room, I found the lights switched off. I saw a white screen. The moment I went near it, my childhood videos started playing which included me playing in the mud, my hide and seek game with amma, my running race with nanna, my first masterpiece with water colours on the floor, my singing sessions with grandma, my first dance performance along with Rudy and Archana, etc.,

The video was like a dream from which I would never want to wake up. So, when the lights were switched on, I was a bit disappointed.

But the sight of my moonlight, wearing a simple cotton saree, holding a cake with a smile on her face, made my disappointment vanish. She is my new dream. The best part is, I don't have to fear waking up. She is always there. My moonlight.

"Happy Birthday Amar" She gave me the knife.

I cut the cake. "I thought you didn't plan anything."

"You are so silly" said Rudy. "We saw you stealing our gifts."

"Pretending not to remember the birthday is an old trick. Pretending that the birthday doesn't matter to us is something new" said Vennu.

"Bava garu, time to make your speech." Shruthi said, focusing the camera on me. "Start."

"Thank you. I got everything I want. This blazer is a perfect fit, the perfume is so soothing, the baseball bat and shoes are so nice. If only I had the sunglasses I wished for, my birthday would have been complete." I said, looking at them.

"Yes. The sunglasses." The boys opened the parcel and wore one each. "How do we look?"

I took the baseball bat and started chasing them throughout the living room. Shruthi ran behind us to record this. I caught Rudy. I was about to snatch it from him when Vennu stopped me. "Amar, let the kids take it. You are the eldest in the group. Remember?"

I nodded. We had lots of fun in the party. Finally, when it was time to go to bed, I embraced my moonlight. "I wish my birthday comes everyday."

"Did you like it so much?" She asked me.

I cupped her face and kissed her. She caressed my face. "Amar, you have no idea how long I have been waiting for this day. It's not my duty, but my right to make you feel happy." She embraced me again. "I remember your face yesterday. It was red like a tomato. This is a story worth telling our grand children."

"To have grand children we need to have children first." I said. "We'll have a daughter named Arya Stark and a son named Sirius Black--"

"Stop" She stopped me from speaking. "The kids will punch your nose if you choose such names."

"But Vennu--"

"I said no."

I made a sad face. She kissed me again. "I love you, my innocent, irritating husband. Happy birthday once again."
