Earl POV

Aaron Anderson should be here at any moment now. Arma and I were waiting in the conference room. With each second that passed, I grew more and more impatient since I couldn't wait to have all the answers to my questions. Arma seemed oblivious or he didn't care about what was going to happen. Finally, the door opened showing a good looking young man. It was Aaron Anderson. He entered the room with two other people which looked like bodyguards and Heather who was holding the door for them. I sat up and went to greet him with a handshake.

"It's a pleasure to finally officially meet you, Earl King," smiled Aaron Anderson as we let go of each other's hand.

"Likewise, please take a seat," I went to sat down next to Arma as our guest did the same, but next to me.

"Would you like some coffee, tea?" asked Heather still standing next to him.

"Coffee, thank you," he smiled at her as she put the cup down in front of him. "Let's get right into business then," he said after taking a sip of his hot beverage. "What artifacts did you found that you needed my help?" he looked around.

"Your family ruled the country you're currently living in a few hundred years ago before going into the business world. And during the time when your family was still ruling the Great World War happened."

"That is correct, but why are you so interested in my Family history all of a sudden?"

"We found documents with your family seal and signature in the now destroyed building where all leaders of the world reunited to make decisions," I continued.

"And you want to know what the Great Conference was," he stated and I nodded. "I can't tell you."

"Why is that?"

"First, there's a man with the identity I don't know is sitting next to you. Second, I don't see why I have the obligation to tell you since I don't see any artifacts anywhere," Aaron explained now looking at Arma intensely.

"You're looking at it," I said and he was now looking at me. His eyes told me that he knew what I was talking about. "Tell me what you know about him."

"That's highly classified information," he answered as I groaned annoyed by hearing that answer, but at least I knew that he knew what I was talking about.

"Whatever you guys were hiding is now discovered. Unless you tell me the whole story, I won't let you go without telling me anything," I answered harshly getting impatient as they both gave me the confidential card.

"There's a reason why we put them down there and it'll destroy all the purpose my ancestors worked so hard for!" he answered in the same tone I used. "Earl, the world isn't ready for that knowledge."

"I understand your worries, but knowledge doesn't cause chaos, ignorance does. The Great World War is now history. Everyone who lived during that time is dead. It is our turn to make decisions."

Aaron sighed and leaned on his chair. "Let me warn you, the army can't know about this or they will take them back," he started after a moment of reflection. "Plus, I don't have all the information you need. I only have a piece of a whole," he lifted his hand up, so I let him continue. "I'll tell you what I can, but concerning the others two identities, you're all by yourself. Accept these terms and sign it," he took out a sheet of paper before giving it to me.

I looked at the contract. Everything that was on it was already said by Aaron, but he needed a real confirmation on the identity of the subjects.

"For that, I'll ask him some questions and if everything is in order, I'll tell you everything I know," he explained as I nodded. "For that, you all have to leave the room."

Even though I didn't want to, I didn't have much of a choice. I needed the information Aaron Anderson held.

I walked out of the room with everyone following me, even the two bodyguards who closed the door behind them. The room was soundproof, so it was pointless to try to hear what they were saying.

Arma POV

I watched as everyone left the room except for the young Anderson. Looking closer, I did recognize some of his ancestor in him. When everyone did leave, he didn't talk nor did I. I just sat there observing him.

"What's your name?" he finally decided to talk.

"That's confidential," I automatically answered as he walked closer to me. He took out an object and put it on the table. I looked at it and immediately recognized it, so my gaze soon returned on him. "Kane."

He nodded as if satisfied with my answer, "Listen, you know why you have been put away and we need to keep it that way. I'll give Earl the control on you, but there are a few things he can't know," he put an envelope in front of me. "Plus, keep your profile low, the last thing we need is the army to put his nose where it doesn't belong," he paused. "Remember, peace is all that matter. If things go wrong, you can be sure that the three of you would be put away... And this time for good. Am I clear?"

I nodded and he smiled before going open the door. I took the file and folded it before putting it away. I watched everybody coming in.

"Okay," Aaron Anderson sighed. "Here's your authorization," he gave Earl another badge different from the one he showed me.

"Thank you. Will you stay for a few days or you are going back immediately to France?" asked Earl as he put the badge in his pocket.

"I'll stay for a day or two and since I'm here I would like to see the archaeological site." the young businessman said as he looked at me briefly.

"Good, Heather will show you around and be your guide. If you need anything you can ask her."

"In fact, I would like to have Kane be my guide." I looked at the man. What did he want from me?

"Kane?" asked Earl clearly confused and I looked at him. Our gaze met and when he understood seconds later that I was the one Aaron talked about. "One member of my team must be there with you, it's the rules," he talked to the young man even though both of them looked at me.

"I'm fine with that, but for now, I have some business to attend. If you would excuse me..." Aaron politely said before walking out of the room followed by his bodyguards and Heather.

I sat up and stretched. Before I could make a step, Earl asked me a question.

"What does this badge mean?" he showed me the item.

"Proof that you have authority over me. I'll do anything you order. Your will, my hands."

Earl looked at the item in his hand before looking at me. "You'll answer to all my questions?"

I looked at him and thought of the envelope. I already knew what I can and can't say, but I still have to be certain. "If I have the answer."

"What did Aaron Anderson and you talked about?"

"I now have to obey you and him wanting to visit the archaeological site," I half-lied and even with Earl intense gaze, I didn't show any hesitation.

I was still functional, I wasn't broken yet.

The man in front of me nodded and opened the door behind him. I walked out and waited for him to follow. Back to Earl's room, I sat down behind a desk. Alone, I took out the content of the envelope. There were a passport and a file with a lot of pages. As I scanned through it, I read what I could and couldn't do.

In short, I was forbidden to:

• Awake my brother and sister;

• Talk about the experiments;

• Be discovered by the army;

• Tell who were the families at the meeting;

• Be under X-Rays;

• Die

As I read the other pages, I remember I should take a bath soon. I had to ask Earl later, so he could help me get the ingredients I needed. I should have time right after giving the tour to Aaron Anderson.

As I destroyed the documents except for my passport, Earl came in looking quite exhausted. He let himself fall in his bed and closed his eyes.

"Earl," I called for him, but he didn't answer. I called him again but I heard him snoring. There was nothing I could do now, I would ask him later.

I sat up and went to the gym. As usual, it was empty, so I took a few sandbags for myself and started to threw punches and kicks. My movements had slowed down by 1,3% and lost 2,5% in strength. It was developing faster than I thought. I clenched and unclenched my hands before throwing a punch at my full strength. The sand exploded outside of the bag and was propelled at the other side of the room. It should suffice until tomorrow night.

After cleaning up the mess I created, I walked back to Earl's room. The man was still sleeping, so I took a shower before going to sleep. Now that I thought about it, I was never given the chance to rest this much and honestly, what a waste of time.

Earl POV

I groaned as I woke up. My head was killing me for an unknown reason. I rubbed my eyes before looking at the clock on the wall, 8:27 am. I sat up on the bed and noticed that I didn't change before going to sleep either did I take a shower. I was about to stand up when I noticed something weird. Ar... Kane was still in his bed and the weirder part was his eyes were wide open.

"Kane?" I called him, but he didn't move nor did he respond. I approached him and saw that his eyes were completely dilated. I touched his arm and shook him a little. "Kane?" I called his name a little louder this time. "Are you alright?"

Then his eyes were back as normal and he blinked for the first time since I saw him this morning.

"Good morning," he greeted as he sat up looking at the clock.

"Good morning, how are you feeling?" I asked worriedly, he wouldn't be on drugs... Right?

"Nothing unusual. When would Anderson want to visit the site?"

"In about three hours," I answered erasing the thought. He wouldn't be that clear of mind if he was. Plus, no one here was consuming, so he would need to go to town to obtain it. Which was way too far, even if he could run as fast as a car. "Let's go grab something to eat."

"Coming back from the tour, I have a favor to ask," he added making me curious, but I only nodded.

After finishing our morning business, we went to the cafeteria and unlike last time, it was packed. While waiting in line, I looked at the menu. Pancakes, yeah that sounded awfully good. I looked beside me to see Kane also looking at the menu. His arms were crossed with frowned eyebrows. He looked so concentrated and tense. I waited a little more, but as our turn approached, he still hadn't moved.

"What are you going to take?" I asked as I pulled his arm, so he would fill the space that grew between us in the line.

He looked at me, but his eyes were dilated, like this morning. Worried, I called him name twice, but when he didn't respond, I snapped my fingers in front of him. Slowly, his eyes seemed to focus.

"What's wrong?" he asked as if nothing happened.

I frowned, maybe he was tired or he had something in his mind. Yet, I felt like he wasn't telling me an important detail. "What are you going to take for breakfast?"

"The same as you."

I nodded and gave our orders to the patient lady. After taking our food and eating with my colleagues, I kept Kane under my sight. He seemed to be always lost in his thoughts although for the past few days, he was acting the exact opposite. Another weird thing was that young Anderson eyed him as if he knew what he was going through.

I couldn't wait for Kane to ask his favor, maybe then everything would be a little clearer.
