Earl POV

At breakfast, I still couldn't find Arma. He disappeared God knew where. I should give him a cellphone, it would be more practical. I opened another door to find it empty again.

When I was going to find him, I would make him eat all his breakfast by his nose.

He could at least write a note or something, it had been almost an hour and a half since I started looking for him and I was starving.

I entered the cafeteria hoping he would be hungry, but it looked like he wasn't. I walked to the table I usually sit at and asked my fellow colleagues.

"I think he may be at the gym, I saw someone there," one of them answered making me groan a thanks.

Why didn't I thought about this sooner?!

I walked to the gym room and opened the door. I stopped right there mesmerized by the man's elegance. Even though he was only punching and kicking a sandbag, it looked like he was dancing. He seemed so light on his feet and every punch or kick were as powerful as the last one.

Then he stopped and took out two dangerous, sharp looking curvy blades or daggers out of nowhere. He started to fight an invisible opponent and the gaze in his eyes were so intense and fierce.

He was sweating profusely and was half naked, but he didn't seem tired at all.

I walked further into the room and sat down on a chair meters behind him.

"Good morning," I greeted after awhile and he stopped right in his movement before turning around.

When he saw me, his glare softened and relaxed a little.

"Good morning," he greeted back as he lowered his arms before coming next to me and take his bottle of water. In a few gulps, he finished it entirely.

"How long have you been here?" I asked curiously as I looked at the weapons dangerously close to my face.

"Since 6:27," he replied putting the weapons down on the chair next to me.

"And where... Did you get those?" I pointed at the daggers.

"Where you found me," he simply answered as if it was the most logical thing.

I nodded and was about to ask more questions, but my stomach furiously growled.

"Hungry?" I asked him as Arma was still looking at me as if he didn't hear anything which made me even more uncomfortable.

He nodded and we left the room. He said he didn't mind if we go eating or showering first. So, too hungry to think about it, I just walked back into the cafeteria which was almost empty since it was almost ten.

I ordered some eggs, bacon and pancakes. I started eating as I waited for Arma who ordered some sausages, eggs and bacon.

"Will you like some coffee?" asked a sweet woman behind the counter.

"What's coffee?" Arma asked making me look at him wondering if he was joking. However, he seemed dead serious.

"Two coffees, please. And put the sugar, milk and cream on the side. Thanks." I ordered for both of us.

As we sat down at a empty table, I gave him his cup of coffee with everything on the side.

I resumed eating and time to time I took a few sips of my black coffee here and there.

I could feel his eyes watching my every moves. When I was about to finish, he finally touched at his food. He slowly took his fork and began to eat.

After his first swallow he stopped and something weird happened. One of his eyes was crying while being filled with emotions and the other one was blank and even colder than before. As if two part of him were fighting each other.

"Are you okay?" I asked worried. "Why are you crying?"

His hand moved to his face and touched the wet trail of salty water. He looked at his finger confused for a few second before covering his crying eye.

"Please excuse me," he said before standing up and walked out of the room.

I was utterly confused, what happened? It was the first time Arma showed any kind of emotions. I looked at his food and at mine, it was made by the same chef and I took a bite of his sausage.

The flavour exploded in my mouth as usual, but maybe I was... Used to all this luxury.

When Arma came back, he was back to normal, impassive and emotionless.

"My apology, I don't know what took over me," my roommate said as he sat down and took a sip of his black coffee.

He looked at it for a few seconds before putting it back down and took another bite. This time nothing happened.

"You don't like your coffee?" I asked after I saw him watch me took another sip of the hot beverage.

He didn't answer and just continued eating making me smile a little.

"You can put some sugar and milk and or cream inside," I said taking a small pack of sugar before ripping it open and pour it into the mug. I did the same with the milk and cream. Then I mixed it all together. "Here, try it now."

He took the mug before looking at it then back at me as if showing he didn't like my idea. But in the end, he did take a sip then another one.

"Good?" I chuckled.

"It does taste better," Arma admitted.

Soon, we were out of the cafeteria. Arma went to take a shower and I, to the laboratory. As I entered the lab, I put my lab coat and protective glasses on.

"Got anything?" I asked Heather when she finished talking to a colleague.

"Unfortunately, none of the two others woke up. If only we could run an X-ray on Arma maybe we could find why he woke up," she sighed surely remembering when she asked for it, but got refused.

"The meeting with the Anderson family can't come any sooner," I sat down as I looked at the files on my desk.

I took off my glasses and put my hand through my hair. "Did you knew that this morning, Arma left the HQ?"

"No, I didn't. Why are you asking?"

"I checked, he didn't use a car and he said he was at the gym since 6:27," I started explained to her. "Unless he woke up at 3:00 or so... But that's impossible... I saw him sleeping way past this hour..."

At the same time, Arma came in a plain black shirt and leather pants. Without forgetting the two dangerous looking daggers dangling on each side of his waist. He looked deadly, but everything fit him perfectly... Too perfectly.

"Hello Arma, sleep well?" greeted Heather with a big smile.

"Yes, thank you. How about you?" he answered back.

"Good I slept well too, thanks. So... What are these?" she pointed at the weapons.

Arma simply answered that it was daggers, obviously. I was wondering why she would ask that to him since she already knew.

"How did you get them? I never saw those here before... Can I see them?" she asked her eyes filled with curiosity.

Arma gave the same answer he gave me this morning. The man was a mystery, at one moment he was a cold as ice and another moment he was crying because of some food.

He took out the daggers and put it on the table in front of Heather. She got mesmerized by it very fast and completely forgot about us.

"How did you get there?" I asked him since Heather wasn't going to ask.

"I ran there," he looked at me while crossing his arms.

"Run? How long did that take you?" I sat up as I went to the computer to access to the surveillance system.

"Almost an hour," he answered after a few seconds of silence.

"You mean to go only?" he shook his head and gave me an answer that was hard for me to believe. Even Heather stopped drooling on the daggers. "That's impossible, or you will have to run at... 90 kilometres per hour! No human ran that..." I stopped talking when I saw the recording of the surveillance camera.

I could see Arma come out of the building around 5:00 am before starting to run. He was telling the truth he could have run at 90... I advanced the video and he was back at 6:06 am.

An hour, from here to the research base, a few hundred kilometres from here.

"Are you serious?" asked Heather in disbelief.

Oh yeah, a human could easily do that... Of course not Heather! I tried to convince myself even though I already saw the video.

"I am always serious," he answered shortly before getting back his weapons and I silently groaned.

We stayed in the laboratory for a few hours, I was completing some paperwork as my colleagues were asking questions to Arma.

I didn't understand why since he would not answer to the majority of it which are the important ones.

I needed to inform him about the meeting with the Anderson family which was in a few days...

He will need a passport, but without knowing his real identity, I couldn't legally do it. How was I supposed to get him out of this country and in another. I couldn't contact both government since we still didn't have any convincing results. Let's hope I wouldn't need to do something illegal...

When I finally left the laboratory, everyone was already gone. I walked back to my room needing a shower.

Arma was there laying on his bed reading a book. I guessed now was the best to tell him.

"Arma, there's something you need to know," I first said as he put the book down.

"I'm listening," he answered making me sat down on the corner of my bed.

"In a few days, we have to go to France to meet the Anderson Family," I explained as he sat up. "And for that you need a passport."

"Anderson... You made your research well boy," he praised as I ignored the fact that he called me a boy again. "But I refuse to go see them."

"Why?!" I exclaimed loudly as I sat up and look at the man in disbelief.

"I have my reasons, but if you want me to see them, they'll have to come to me," he firmly said as he took back his book showing that it was the end of the discussion.

I sighed, and went to the bathroom. If he wasn't a precious subject, I would already have killed him! Who did he think he was? However, that wouldn't change the fact that Arma didn't want to go. Why didn't he want to go?

I couldn't afford to lose precious information because he didn't want to go! I had no other choice then, they would have to come or they would never believe me if I go without Arma.

I showered quickly and dressed myself before leaving my room. I walked until I reached a familiar door. I knocked and waited for the person to answer.

"Yes?" asked Ashley as she opened the door. "Earl what brings you this late to my room?" she asked with a small smile.

"Arma doesn't want to go meet the Andersons," I grumbled annoyed as she let me in.

"He WHAT?!" she screamed making me glare at her. "Sorry B-..." I sent her a death glare daring her to continue to speak. As expected she didn't.

"He doesn't want to go meet them, so they have to come meet him," I explained at I leaned on the wall.

"How are you going to do that?" she asked as she gave me a mug of tea.

"I'll have to persuade them..." I rubbed my eyes as I sighed. "Give me your phone," I opened my hand as she dialled their number on her phone before giving it to me.

I put the cellphone next to my ear and waited.

"Aaron Anderson, qui est à l'appareil?" boomed a voice on the other side of the call.

"Earl King," I shortly answered.

"I thought you would have called sooner or later, how can I help you?" this time he answered in English.

"For our meeting in a few days, you would have to come at the research center."

"You know I'm a busy man and I can't afford that," he sighed as I heard voices in the background. "Why the sudden change of plan?"

"I have discovered some artifacts and I can't afford to transport them without damaging the good. I'll pay for the transportation fee if you would like," I explained as I leant of the chair and looked at Ashley who immediately understood.

"Fine, but answer this question first. Why me? I'm no expert in the field."

"I'll tell everything to you, but in person only. And if you want to know come meet me and I hope you remember your family history. You'll need it," I evaded the question. "Well then, I'll send someone to greet you at the airport. Have a nice day, until then," I said before finishing the call before he could argue further.

I gave back Ashley's phone to her before swallowing half of the content in the mug.

"Inform Heather of this and do the necessary preparations," I told her before wishing her goodnight and went back to my room.
