21. Monday Week Seven

"What the hell!" Kie exclaimed, "you two have kissed before."

"Not surprising, it was very tense between you two that one lunchtime," Tori added

"Which lunchtime?" Lana questioned.

"Oh, yeah, you're right, you still should've said though bitch," Kins remarked in relation to Tori's statement.

"Only once before, and I never said anything because things got weird between us afterwards and," I paused for a moment, "we haven't really been hanging out just us girls anymore."

The girls all looked contemplative for a moment before Lana released a sigh and nodded, "yeah, you're right. With the group getting bigger and us all having our own stuff going on, it has been hard to find time to hang out."

"We could do a girls night at mine?" Kie offered, looking around at all of us.

"Um, it wouldn't really be a girls night with your brother around, Kie?" Tori pointed out sheepishly, Kie pouted but nodded her head in agreement.

"Well my house then," Kinsey declared, "everyone come over straight after school?"

Everyone nodded in agreement and my chest felt lightened at the thought of spending the night with the girls, just unwinding but my moment was ruined by Lana.

"Rei, chica, keep the hair over your neck," Lana admonished from the other side of the table. Embarrassed, I grabbed my hair and hastily pulled it in front of my ears and made it fall in a way which covered the hickeys adorning my neck, goddamn Eli!

Speaking of the devil, his voice whispered into my ear, "why you covering them up tigru?"

I won't lie, I exploded. I jumped up out of my seat, swivelled around to face him, my hair flying and pointed my finger into his chest angrily as I exclaimed, "why? Why? Why do you think Eli!?"

He gave me an arrogant smirk in return before nodding in the direction of my neck again, "I can see them again," he let out a low whistle, "damn. They're pretty bad tigru."

Completely exasperated, I let out a breathe of air before grabbing his wrist and tugging him out of the cafeteria and into the outside area where there were less prying ears.

"You smug little bastard," I stated as I dropped his wrist and crossed my arms across my chest. Eli took no care of my blazing anger and instead leant on a tree trunk casually before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. Sensing that I wasn't done, however, he said nothing and let me continue in my rant.

"You are honestly the most arrogant person I have ever met! Do you have any idea how stressful it is trying to keep these covered?" I motioned agitatedly to my neck, "it is 83º out here Eli, I would most likely die if I wore a high neck so instead, I have spent the entire day using my hair to cover up your stupid hickeys!"

Eli made no response to my outburst, merely taking drags of his cigarette and staring over at me with a small smirk on his lips.

"Seriously?" I paused and narrowed my eyes at him, "you're just gonna stand there."

He pushed off the tree and put his cigarette out before stepping close to me, "what do you want me to say, tigru?" He raised his hand to cup the nape of my neck, pushing my hair out of the way as he did it, I sucked in a breath of air at the action. His breath smelt of mint and cigarettes as he spoke to me, "want me to say sorry, Reillyn?" He tilted my head to the side and pushed my t-shirt down slightly with the back of his wrist so he could get a good look at his handiwork, "cause I'm not sorry."

How is it that everything he said was always the right thing to say and the wrong thing to say?

I expelled another breath, unsure of how to respond and he took a step back, his eyes flickered towards the football field behind me and I turned to see what he was looking at. Noah and Arik came into view, Arik turned into the canteen but Noah headed in our direction after spotting us.

Eli stepped forward and planted a kiss against the corner of my lips that left me wanting more before shoving his hands in his pockets and striding off. I silently prayed that Noah hadn't seen that.

I quickly rearranged my hair to cover my neck as Noah came to a stop in front of me. "Hey," I breathed out.

"Hey," the greeting got drawn out as Noah craned his neck in the direction Eli had disappeared too before asking, "what was that about?"

"What? Oh, yeah, nothing, just something about Riley and the twins." It scared me how easily the lie came out but something in me knew that Noah would not react well to whatever was happening between me and Eli.

"Okay then," he sounded unsure but dropped it and gave me a smile, "we haven't spoken in ages, Rei."

I released a sigh but nodded in agreement, "I know, last time we spoke was last Wednesday morning." Right before my encounter with Marcus, I didn't say.

Noah looked guilty as he said, "I heard about what happened at lunch. I'm sorry I wasn't there Rei-Rei."

"What? Why are you sorry Noah?" I chuckled and pulled him into a hug, "if anyone should be sorry, it's me. I should've told you about it, we've both just been so busy."

This, at least, was true. Noah had early morning and lunchtime football practices, along with other clubs, so our schedules never lined up anymore meaning we had barely seen each other in the past week.

"Yeah, I know, how have you been getting to school by the way?"

"Kie's been driving me," the lie just slipped past my lips and the guilt about lying to him grew exponentially. Kie had driven me to school this morning but all of last week was Eli, I think he wanted to make sure I was okay after the whole Marcus thing. Even though I hadn't told him the full story yet, I'm pretty sure he already knew that there was a lot more going on.

"Oh, I didn't realise you two were close."

"Yeah, ever since that first night out we've been getting along. It's kinda weird actually how well you can get on with someone so quickly. You know she's actually a year younger than us?"

Noah smiled at me, "yeah, Rei, I know. Do you think we could hang out after school? Practice finishes early today so you'll only have to wait like 30 minutes."

Deciding to mess around with him a little, I teased, "hmm, I don't know, 30 minutes is a very long time Noah."

He rolled his eyes, "I'm sure the princess can manage it."

I laughed at him before looping my arm through his and letting him drag me back into the canteen to wait out the rest of lunch.

Noah and I ate at an Italian restaurant in town that we both loved and we spent about 2 hours just laughing and messing around. It was good to spend time with my best friend again after so long. I hated it when we didn't speak, it felt unnatural, Noah and I had been through so much together that it was impossible to imagine my life without him.

We ended up going back to his house to watch some movies and it was around 11pm when someones keys rattled in the front door and I saw a glimpse of thick blonde hair.

"Rei?" She questioned as she stepped into the lounge.

I jumped up from my cuddled up position on the floor and went over to give her a hug, "Sienna! It's been so long, how are you?"

"I'm good thanks. How have you been? How's your Nan? And Ty?"

"They're great actually, Ty has gotten so big its actually starting to scare me."

"Will you two shut up? I'm trying to concentrate," Noah demanded with a mouth full of popcorn, eyes still staring intently at the tv.

I rolled my eyes, "it's Finding Nemo, Noah. If you need to concentrate then I have some concerns."

He flipped me off and Sienna just let out a chuckle before steering me into the kitchen. Physically, she looked the exact same as when I had last seen her. Her blue eyes were mature, showing how she had grown up so quickly and her hair was in its immaculate straight bob like it always was. Her nails were polished to perfection, not chipped like mine always were. And even though it was 11pm at night she was dressed flawlessly in skin tight blue jeans and a flowing white blouse. I tugged the sleeves of Noah's oversized sweater further down and prayed the pair of sweats which I had tugged on earlier didn't have any stains on them.

"So, tell me how you've been," she questioned with a smile, grabbing two bottles of water from the fridge.

I took the one she gave to me before answering her, "yeah, like I said, all good." I mentally cringed at my pathetic answer. Sienna was like a sister to me; why did I now, after becoming close with Eli, feel so awkward around her?

"Oh come on, there has to be something going on with you, it's your senior year! Any boys?"

"Nope. I don't really like anyone in my year," what complete and utter bullshit, "what about you though. Must be plenty of boys at college to choose from."

This started Sienna off on a long list of stories about the long list of boys she's had in her life and I was left contemplating how the hell Elias Ryker had managed to weave himself into every aspect of my life.

I've decided to just start uploading chapters as and when I write them. I've also started splitting my chapters into parts because some of them are long so from this chapter onwards most of them will come in two parts but I'll never just upload pt1, you'll always get both!
