14. Friday Night Week Five (the fight.)

I'm not going to lie, we had done an amazing job.

The house was covered in fairy lights and photos of Tori hung from strings which laced across the ceiling. I might have used One Direction's 'Story of my Life' music video for inspiration. By inspiration I mean we straight up copied it.

But, in my defence, the place looked amazing. There was a small room to the left of the main entryway which was empty of furniture, we had covered the walls in white paper so people could write nice messages to Tori. We had all accepted, some of us reluctantly *cough* Lana *cough*, that there were bound to be a few stupid ones as people got drunk but we still decided it was a nice idea. We had hired a professional DJ and a proper bartender and bar — someone willing to serve underage of course. The pool out back was full of balloons and floats and we had covered the house in streamers and personalised banners. All the doors that needed to be locked were locked, and we had hidden away all the precious furniture and ornaments; we were ready.

It was now 9:15 and we were all patiently waiting for Arik to arrive with Tori as he had volunteered to pick her up. Everyone was hidden, there were only around 30 of us right now. Our whole group, even Eli who had decided we would just leave from here, and around 20 other people who Tori considered actual friends. Everyone else was set to arrive later so that we had a chance to celebrate with Tori just us first.

"They're coming," Kyle announced as he got a text from Arik.

"I see the car, they'll be here in a sec, everyone hide," Kins added

"I just told everyone that," Kyle responded through gritted teeth at the same time Lana exclaimed, "we're already hiding Kinsey!"

"Shhh." Noah

Everyone was silent as we anxiously waited for the door to open. With a quick glance at Eli, I noticed he was stood casually in the kitchen doorframe, not even attempting to hide. I motioned to the floor and gave him a stern look. He raised his eyebrow and shook his head. 'Now' I mouthed to him with a glare and pointed at the bar which was in front of the kitchen door. He rolled his eyes but still crouched down and hid behind the bar. It was actually a comical sight, Elias Ryker, the 6ft 4' boxer crouched behind a bar, he looked very uncomfortable — I couldn't help but let out a giggle.

"Shhh." Noah did it again.

"Fuck off Noah."

"Bite me Rei." I rolled my eyes at him.

We heard the door-handle jiggle and the sound of Arik talking and Tori laughing before the door was thrown open. Jasper flicked the lights on and everyone jumped up; except Eli, who took his damn time.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted at once which in turn made Tori jump.

Shock graced her face and then tears sprang into her eyes, aww, and she turned into Arik's chest. He wrapped his arms around her as she cried for a bit before she slowly turned back to face us, Arik's arm still around her waist, "I can't believe you guys did this."

Lana stepped forward holding a 'Birthday Girl' sash, "of course we did, chica. It's your birthday and we love you." She put the sash on Tori who proceeded to pull her into a hug. I'm pretty sure I heard a mumbled 'thank you' — well that's not okay.

"Hold the fuck on," I marched over and put my arms around the girls, "recognition for me too please."

"Yeah, and us." Kins added before dragging Kie over to our hug.

Tori laughed and tried to wrap her arms around us all, "thank you so much, guys. I love you all."

"Okay, enough of this bullshit. Where's the alcohollll!!" Kyle shouted. The DJ started playing music and everyone came over to give Tori her presents and wish her a Happy Birthday. She looked so happy; it made me happy.

"We should probably head off soon," Eli's deep voice proclaimed from behind me.

I turned to face him before nodding, "okay, yeah. Let's just wait for more people to show and then we can sneak off."

Tori came over to me and pulled me into her arms for another hug, whispering as she hugged me, "thank you Rei." She pulled back but kept her arms resting on my shoulders and tipped her head up to look at the photos overhead, "that was definitely your idea. No-one loves 1D more than you."

I laughed at her before nodding in agreement, "you look great by the way." The tight black dress which came to mid-thigh showcased her stunning figure. It was strapless and had a sweetheart neckline which complimented the cute silver choker around her neck. Her strawberry blonde hair was tumbling down around her shoulders in waves and it swayed as she moved. She had on black and silver heels that looked dangerous to walk in — but those were the best kind.

"Me? Look at you, you look hot." I took her advice and looked down at my outfit. I was wearing a black mini skirt and a white lacey crop-top that had a criss-cross back. My shoes were black with strings which wrapped around the ankles and they had a silver glittery thick heel because I already had zero balance in normal shoes. I had also brought my pink denim jacket to take with me to Staircase because I didn't want to feel too exposed.

"Thank you Tor," she smiled but then someone called her name and she trotted off promising to catch up with me later. I checked the time on my phone, 9:54, time to go.

I was just about to go look for Eli when someone pressed up against my back, the smell of leather and spice enveloped me and I knew instantly it was Eli.

His breath tickled my ear as he spoke, "she was right," his hands came to rest on my waist, "you do look good." Holy. Shit. He placed a kiss on the shell of my ear before stepping back and motioning to the door with his head, "let's go then."

Way too frazzled to speak, I nodded and followed him out of the house but my mind soon cleared when he stopped in front of a grey Ducati 848, "this is yours?!"

"Mm-hm." He pulled out two leather jacket's from the seat compartment in his bike and put one on, yummy. He motioned me over, I complied, and he removed my pink denim jacket placing it in the seat, before replacing it with the other black leather jacket which actually fit me quite well; was a little tight around the chest area though.

"Okay; A, who's is this and B, it most definitely does not go with my outfit."

Eli rolled his eyes, "It was my sisters."

"Ah, the girl from the photo's in your house," he nods, "where is she?"

"College, she is three years older than us." He ended the conversation by handing me a helmet before hopping on the bike himself, helmet on, visor up.

I put the helmet on before I climbed on behind him, ignoring how my skirt rode up — nothing I could do about it now. I went to put my hands around his waist but it felt entirely too intimate. The choice was taken from me however when Eli grabbed my hands and placed them under his jacket. The only thing between my hands and his ridiculously toned abdomen was a flimsy back t-shirt, oh god. The top did nothing to hide the defined muscle, on muscle, on muscle, that this boy had.

"So your hands don't get cold." He explained then he flicked his visor down. I could feel his abs tensing and contracting under my fingers and I had to use everything in me to stop myself from swooning at his actions.

The ride was quick, maybe 15 minutes but every second of it was amazing.

"That was bloody amazing!" I exclaimed, my eyes wide as I bounced on my feet, "you have definitely got to take me on that again."

He had an amused smile on his face, "maybe I'll teach you someday."

I nodded vigorously, a huge smile stretched across my face, he chuckled and we then proceeded to put everything back in his seat compartment, he pulled my jacket out before putting it on me.

"I can dress myself, boxer boy."

"Been a while since you've used that one," he stated.

I shrugged, "it seemed fitting." I motioned over to the club which had a long queue out front, Eli could jog on if he thought I was going to wait in that; absolutely no chance.

He grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers, and pulled me in the direction of a back entrance to the club, thank god. I ignored how much I liked him holding my hand and I definitely ignored the way my hand felt all tingly in his.

He knocked on the door and was let in by a beefy looking guy with a shaved head and dark brown eyes, he nodded at Eli before his eyes flickered to me, scanning me up and down. I shuffled on my feet uncomfortably and used my free hand to tug my jacket tighter around me.

Eli's grip tightened on my hand and he growled, stepping in front of me, "where the fuck is Max?"

The guy stood up straighter at Eli's growl and averted his eyes from me before responding that he was in the locker room.

Eli nodded and stepped forward stopping when he was nose-to-nose with the guy, "you don't ever fucking look at her, understand?"

The guy nodded and Eli tugged me past Mr Beefy and led me to what I presumed was the locker room. Eli didn't bother knocking and when we stepped through Maxon turned to look at me with surprise, "Rei? What're you doing here princess?"

I could've asked him the same thing, I had no idea Max knew about Eli's fighting but it made sense since he was the one who taught him after all. Max and I had become close over the past few weeks, with me going to the gym every Sunday and he was surprisingly very fatherly.

Eli answered before I could, "it's a long story, just stay with her tonight Max."

Max nodded, "of course." He handed Eli a gym bag which I knew contained his hood and the other stuff he needed for his fight. Eli went into a room in the back and changed before coming out and handing me the tape for his tattooed hands.

Max and he discussed his opponent's weaknesses and strengths as I stood in front of Eli wrapping his hands. Max had taught me how to do it two weeks ago when I asked him why they used it. Eli was not happy about be used as my practice dummy, he grumbled the whole time — he wasn't bloody grumbling now was he.

My eyes couldn't help but run over him as I worked, he really was gorgeous. His inky black hair was a mess on top of his head, strands of it flopped down onto his forehead. His icy blue eyes were hard and concentrated on Max as he spoke about the best way to defeat his opponent. He had removed the ring from his nose and the stud from his ear, his nipple piercing was gone too. His lips looked like they would be soft and I, thankfully, restrained the urge to trace them with my fingers to find out if that was true. His hoody was open and I could see his tattoos peeking out, his abs flexing as he moved.

I stepped back when I was done with his hands, he flexed them a few times to make sure the tape was okay before he looked over at me, "you stay with Max." I rolled my eyes causing him to grip my chin between his thumb and forefinger meaning I had no choice but to meet his stare head-on. "I mean it, tigru, you stay with him the whole time."

"Okay Eli, I get it," I pulled my head out of his grasp and looked down at his chest before poking a finger at it, "and you be careful." He gave me a cocky smirk which was all 'I'm amazing, I don't need to be careful.'

"I mean it, Elias," I mocked him in a deep voice causing his smirk to deepen.

Someone banged a fist on the door, quite rudely actually, and Max nodded, "time to go, boy."

Eli nodded and before we moved, I reached up on my tiptoes and pecked him on the cheek. My lips lingered against the slight stubble there and my eyelashes fluttered against his cheek as nerves crept through me. Feeling shy for some reason, I looked up at him through my eyelashes after leaning away to gauge his reaction. Unfazed, he winked at me before all traces of emotion vanished and he put his game face on.

He pulled his hood up and over his face, putting a mask on today as well, before turning and striding out the door. Max stepped forward and stopped next to me, holding his arm out, "shall we?" I smiled with a nod before putting my arm through his and following Eli out.

The fight was a little longer than the first night I watched him, over in 10 minutes maybe. The difference this time was; every time Eli got hit, I flinched and every time he landed a hit on the other guy, I cheered. To say I was confused, would be an understatement, I didn't understand why a situation like this wasn't bringing back up old memories, why I wasn't more disgusted or frightened. All I knew was that for some reason, all of the reactions I should have been having, I wasn't.

I shook it off as Max dragged me back to the locker room to meet Eli. As soon as he stepped out of the back room (which was apparently a bathroom), one hand drying his hair with a towel, dressed in his black jeans and top from earlier, I ran over to him and launched myself at him. My arms hooked around his neck and my legs around his waist. He stumbled a little from the shock of my weight but he dropped his towel as his arms wrapped around me and he burrowed his head into the crook of my neck. We stayed like that for a moment before Max cleared his throat awkwardly from behind us.

My cheeks flamed as I unwrapped myself from him and attempted to land on the floor, but in my heels I ended up losing my footing but like he had multiple times before Eli grabbed my waist before I could fall. I stepped out of his hold slightly flustered before grabbing his face in my hands and moving his head from side to side, my eyes perusing up and down his body.

"Where are you hurt?" I demanded to know.

He grabbed my hands from his face and pulled them away, letting them fall to my side, "nowhere, Rei."

My eyes narrowed at him, "I saw him land a few punches on you, Elias. Don't lie to me."

Eli's eyes flickered to Max over my shoulder and I turned to see him holding his hands out, "this is all you kiddo."

Eli looked back at me, "fine but he didn't land any on my face."

He pulled his top up and I saw a few bruises here and there which were fine but there was a big one on his left ribcage, just next to his bird tattoo which looked bad. I pointed at it, "this needs ice."

He let his top fall back down, "it's fine tigru."

"Ice, Elias. Now."

He rolled his eyes but nodded at Maxon over my shoulder. Max left and returned a few minutes later holding ice out for me. I thanked Maxon before I placed it on Eli's bruised ribs and told him to keep it there until the swelling went down, he complied holding the ice to his rib cage with his right hand.

I gave Max a hug and told him I'd see him on Sunday and Eli did the bro hug thing with him before grabbing my hand with his free one and tugging me out of the club, I waved at Max one last time over my shoulder as we left.

When we got out to his bike, Eli threw his ice in a dumpster outside, I glared at him but said nothing, choosing to appreciate that he at least kept it on for as long as he did. We swapped our jackets, donned our helmets and I took care of his bruises when I placed my hands on his front before he sped off back in the direction of the party.

It was only 11:15 when we arrived meaning I still had plenty of time to get drunk with my friends, I grinned in anticipation.
