Will's P.O.V.

She's dead.

I frowned. Hold on, that can't be right. How could she be dead? Still frowning, I turned towards Trinity, Ben still in my arms. "What the hell just happened?"

She blinked right back at me. "I don't freaking know! They must've put a fail-safe in the system, and I triggered it on accident, and... and this happened," she sputtered, exasperated, gesturing with her arms towards Ben.

My eyes tried to escape from their sockets. "You're the computer genius! How did you not know that this wouldn't happen!" I took a deep breath, trying to calm down, but it only ended up being a shaking wheeze. Looking down at the limp girl in my tiring arms, a pang reached deep into my chest. I can't lose her. Not her.

A ringing noise broke the silence as we stared at Ben. My head snapping up, I searched the room wildly for my phone, before seeing it on the table that Trinity was recently working at. Confusion caused my brows to inch towards each other before I shook my head, handing Ben over to Trinity. I guess I put it down while trying to figure out how to help Ben.

Briskly crossing the room, annoyance spread through me as I saw the caller. Jake. That Agent had been nothing but a distraction for me since our two agencies teamed up to help Ben.

Picking up the phone, my eyes drifted over to where Trinity was setting Ben down on the ground before grasping her computer roughly and harshly pounding the keys with a determined look on her face.

"Hello?" I murmured, feigning ignorance to the identity of the caller.

"Don't mess with me, William. What the hell is happening over there?" My lips twitched at the self-importance apparent in his voice.

Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. "Nothing good. We killed her." I brought my phone away from my ear, anticipating the outburst that was sure to follow my statement.

"You did what?!" His voice became muffled, as if he was covering the speaker. "Max! Max! They killed Ben! Hey!"

I raised my eyebrows in surprise as a new voice spoke lowly into the phone. "What have you done to my sister."

Sighing again, I looked to Trinity for an update. She held up one hand, her five fingers spread apart indicating that she would be done in five minutes. "Nothing that can't be fixed. Her boyfriend's just over-reacting, Max. We're doing the best we can," I bitterly admitted, clenching and unclenching my hand repeatedly.

"He's not her boyfriend, nor will he ever be again," was the reply, causing a hopeful flame to ignite in my heart. As much as I wanted to question him on that, I knew that right now wasn't the time. "We'll be there in five." Max ended the phone call, and I placed my phone into my pocket.

"Update?" I strode over to Trinity, staring at Ben's lifeless body on the ground.

"Good news is, I figured it out. Apparently, whoever did, well, that to her, really screwed up her insides. And by that, I mean it's all connected. Everything! Her brain, wings, heart, lungs, everything! So when I accidentally triggered the fail safe, it stopped her heart." Trinity grinned up at me, her teeth glinting in the darkness of the room.

"So..." I still wasn't getting it, and I guess the confusion was written on my face, as Trinity just rolled her eyes and turned around, hands flying over the keyboard.

"So, that means if I can override the fail safe, everything should start working again." She typed more things into the computer, and then sat back, staring at Ben.

"What are you doing?!" I ground out, flabbergasted.

"Waiting," was her soft response.

I gritted my teeth. "For..." Trinity might find herself without a job if she doesn't give me a  clear answer.

A jerk of Ben's body gave me her answer, along with a relieved smile. "That."

Ben shot up, looking wildly around her as Trinity stood up, creating a barrier with me to the door. I crossed my arms as I stared, curious as to what would happen.

"Mom? Mom!" Catching sight of us, Ben froze, reaching toward her hip where I guess a gun normally would rest. "Who the hell are you? And where am I?"

Crossing the room, I stopped a few feet in front of her. "My name is William, but you can call me Will," I explained, sending a relieved wink her way. Thank goodness she didn't remember what happened. Disappointment suddenly crashed down on my. But that meant she didn't know about my wings, either.

Trinity took a slow step forward as well. "I'm Trinity. You're at The Invisible's Agency. You're safe, Ben." She gave her a reassuring smile, but that only caused Ben to subtly move into a fighting stance.

"How do you know my name."

  Well, shit.

Agent 5's P.O.V.

Whereishewhereishewhereishewhereish-

My thoughts abruptly cut off as the guy who called himself Will took a self forward, and I took one back, trying to calm my racing heart and put distance between myself and these... people.

"We know friends of yours, Ben. I promise you're safe and that we are not going to hurt you." Will ran a hand through his head for what seemed to be the fifth time. It must be a nervous habit of his, I thought while glancing at the door that was, of course, situated behind the two.

I froze. Friends of mine? My heart dropped in my chest, and I felt numb. No. No no no no no no no. They must know the scientists. They were going to take me back again. No! My chest rose up and down rapidly, as the floor seemed to spin beneath my feet. They made me a monster before. Not again.

"No." I spat, glaring with a burning hatred into his eyes. "I won't let you take me back there. You'd have to kill me first." Confusion was cleared by a glint of understanding on his face, before worry set in.

"You've got it wrong, I swear. Nothing like th-" My only way of escaping suddenly made a loud noise, and I jerked, stumbling back as Jake, Max and more of their agents flooded into the room.

What the hell was going on?!

My eyes searched the room wildly, terrified, for an other means of escape. They'd betrayed me. They were working with the scientists. I was right, after all. I couldn't trust anyone, not even my own brother. My family.

Max's eyes widened as he spotted me. "Ben! Thank God you're alright, I was so worried!" A grin split his face, and he stepped forward, opening his arms wide, but I flinched, disgust clear on my face.

"How could you?!" I practically screeched, my mouth setting into a hard line.

His face contorted with confusion. "What? What do you mean?" Turning to Will, his expression hardened. "What did you do?" His hand clenched, as if he was holding himself back. Please, I thought, go ahead and punch him. I'll use the distraction to escape.

Will's face blanched. "I-I..." he sighed. "Well, her memory is wiped from when she was with the scientists. That was the side affect for un-brainwashing her. She kept on asking where her mom was and who we were, so I told her that we knew friends of hers... and I guess she thought I meant the scientists, not you all, so... this happened." He gestured vaguely in my direction, and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"So you're not working with... them?" My eyes darted to each face, skeptical.

"Ben, how could you think that? We would never do that!" Tom stepped forward, then quickly back, as I stared him down.

"If anyone takes one more step forward, I will invert their rib cage. And that's exactly what someone who was working with them would say," I growled, promises of pain glinting in my eyes.

"Well if you don't believe our words, perhaps you will believe something else." Will turned to Trinity. "Call Michael and Ava."

Trinity nodded, bringing out her phone, before quickly dialing a number, talking in a low voice to whoever was on the other end. Within minutes, two others came into the room, one an Asian girl whose clawed hands caused me to gasp, and the other German guy around Max's age, whose glittering red eyes caused a chill to creep down my spine.

Curious as to what would happen, I crossed my arms, lifting a brow. "What are you trying to prove?" I directed the question towards Will, who had taken off his sweater and was... unbuttoning his shirt? What the hell?

A flush crept up my face, but I scowled, trying to hide it. "What on Earth are you doing?" The other three were doing similar things.

"Watch," was the only thing Will said. I looked to the other agents in the room, and they seemed as lost as I was, except Jake had a look of recognition dawning on his face that caused me to narrow my eyes at him.

Turning around in a line starting with Trinity, then Michael, Ava and Will, they lifted the top of their shirts so the top of their backs faced me.

The color drained out of my face as I realized what I was looking at. Tattoos. Scales for Trinity, an eyeball for Michael, talons for Ava, and... and wings for Will.

I met his eyes, wonder in mine, and understanding in his. Understanding. He knew what it was like. He was like me. A monster. A slight frown worked its way onto my lips. But... from what I'd seen, he didn't act like a monster. My heart lifted with a flicker of hope as a thought entered into my head. So... did that mean I wasn't a monster?

By the time I collected my thoughts, everything was back to normal, and all the agents were standing together, watching me closely for my reaction.

"So Ben? Do you believe us know?" This question came from Will, who, despite his wondering question, was looking at me with a gleam of something that I couldn't quite put my finger on, in his eye.

I straightened self-consciously, meeting all of their imploring eyes once more, before nodding my head firmly, in affirmation. "Yes. I do."

---

Some time later, we were all crowded around Trinity's computer that was now on the table.

"What's the plan?" I looked to Will, who seemed taken back that I was directing the question to him, but I didn't waste time on what that meant.

"Ah... we really don't have one." He looked sheepishly to Max, who had the same look on his face.

"What!? What were you planning on doing then? Just letting fate take it's course? Max Waters, you know better than that." I pinned him to the spot, disappointment coursing through my veins.

"Well we really just had the plan of getting you back, we didn't think past that." Lydia's voice caused my stare to change direction, and the destination was now my best friend.

"Bloody hell you guys. This is why we failed the last mission." I groaned, rubbing my eyes with my hands, looking up to see very aghast faces.

"What? It's true. Now, Tom, get on the computer with Trinity and open the file that you used to access my brain." Tom stood frozen, while Trinity jumped up, and began typing on the computer. "Tom? We don't have all day. Unless a plan suddenly came to mind." I raised an eyebrow at him, ready to pull some threats from my reserve, but he was already moving.

"Now what?" Trinity looked to me, and I came around her back, peering at the screen.

"Okay, now go here. Yeah, there. Okay, press that, then that. Click the file on the left. Okay, now open the one that says 'Eyes'. Great." By the time we were finished, everyone else was standing behind me, trying to get a glimpse at the screen.

"Scroll through the videos until you see the one numbered 041520. Fantastic. That's what we need. Play it."

---

By the time we were done with the video, everyone's faces were shocked. I rolled my eyes, gesturing to the computer. "Now we know what they're going to do, we can come up with a plan." I stood up and was about to go around the desk when someone spoke up.

"I don't get it." I sighed at Tom's voice. Turning, I studied his confused face. "Why would they want everyone in the world to be 'perfect' so that whatever happened to them, wouldn't happen to anyone else? What happened to them?"

I shrugged, pursing my lips. "I don't know. Something really bad, I guess." Something that made them the way they were today.

Tom continued, seemingly oblivious to  what I just said. "And the four of you," he gestured to Will, Trinity, Michael and Ava, "were the beginning of the family, and you," he looked up, peering into my eyes, "were the end. The fifth." His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. And he just... stared. At me.

Right when I was going to comment about catching flies, he spoke. "That's why! I get it now! That's why you are Agent 5! Not because you were the fifth person on your old team, but because you were the fifth person they experimented on. You're their Fifth Agent!" He grinned at me, looking as if he was about to start jumping up and down in happiness.

All I could do is stare. It was like a puzzle piece had fallen into place. It did make sense. The corners of my mouth turned up slowly, a smile tugging at my lips. Shaking my head, I looked to Will. He was the beginning, and I am now the end.

Max cleared his throat, looking flustered. "So, Ben, as you're the last one, you get to make the plan. What do we do now?"

I scanned their faces, biting my lip at the trust in their eyes, before straightening, determination molding my features.

"We take them down. Once and for all."

Once and for all.
