Tyler's P.O.V

That's strange.

Wendy didn't come to school today.

Today of all days.

After she had promised to be by my side today on my first day of school since the coma.

We were also supposed to announce to everyone that we're dating.

Did she not come because she's chickening out of the announcement?

Is she ashamed of me?

I could feel anger rise up inside of me so I decided to push these thoughts to the back of my mind.

Maybe she's sick.

But she sounded fine last night over the phone.

The least she could have done was drop me a text to tell me that she's not coming. Sure, I would have still been angry but at least I'd know.

School eventually ended and I decided to go check on her at her house.

Halfway there I realised that this was a suicide mission because if her parents, especially her dad, were at home, I was dead meat since they banned me from seeing her.

Not to mention her dad literally threatened me.

I decided that I will tell them that Wendy has my History textbook or something, if they're home.

I can't go a day without seeing my girl, no matter her parents or how angry I am.

I saw multiple vehicles that looked like police cars as I turned a corner in Wendy's street.

The closer I got, the more cars with flashing blue and red lights I could see.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when I realised that those police trucks, were parked in Wendy's yard.

Wild scenarios clammed up my head and soon my legs started sprinting over to her house.

There was a mini crowd standing around the gate. What scared me the most was seeing multiple news reporters surrounding the house.

Why the hell would there be news reporters here?

I tried barging in the gate but a police officer stopped me.

"Please, I need to speak to Wendy." I begged.

"And you are?" The cop asked.

I hesitated. "Her boyfriend."

His eyebrows shot up. "Haven't you heard the news?"

I could feel my legs getting numb. "What news?"

"I'm sorry but...she's missing. We believe that she has been kidnapped."

I didn't believe him. "What?"

He nodded. "We believe, last night."

It felt like my brain was rejecting this information in order to prevent my body from malfunctioning. "B-But I was speaking to her last night, that's impossible."

The officer's eyebrows shot up again. "What time?"

"23:00PM." I answered.

"Interesting," The grey haired cop stepped out of the way. "You might have been the last person she spoke to because it is believed she was kidnapped around that time."

My world came crashing down and I struggled to breathe.

"Woah, are you okay there young man?" He asked as he put his hands around my waist to stop me from falling.

He helped me walk to the house until the stairs leading up to the door.

I sat down on one of the stairs and inhaled as much air as I could.

"Thank you," I said to the officer once I was calm. "I-I just can't believe it."

"I'm sorry. Do her parents know that you two are dating?" He asked.

"Well, uhm, her parents knew before that we were dating but they banned us from seeing each other," I hesitated telling him everything but I knew I had to. "We kinda continued dating anyway."

"I see," He nodded. "Detective Robert and Gerald are inside the house questioning the family. I think you need to be there too."

I nodded, agreeing with him.

We went inside the house and to the lounge where her family, her extended family and detectives were seated.

Most of the women, including her mother, were crying with boxes of tissue besides them.

Wendy's father looked completely different to the poised and strong demanoured man who was threatening me the other day. Instead he looked weak and vulnerable.

His shirt was loose and some of the buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned. His hair was sticking up in all directions and he just looked like a complete mess.

As soon as his eyes met mine, they grew dark and he snapped up the couch.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He shouted, as detectives stood alongside him.

"And who are you?" One detective with dark, silky hair asked me.

The cop who came with me answered. "He's her boyfriend." He said before adding. "And it looks like he was the last one to speak to her last night."

The detectives briefly looked at each other before nodding at the officer.

"Ex-boyfriend." Wendy's father corrected.

I swallowed the gulp that formed in my throat. "We are still dating, sir."

His eyes became darker than I thought was possible as he clenched his jaw.

I got a text on my phone and though I knew it was not an appropriate time to view texts, something inside me told me to view it.

Unknown.

It was the same number that had been sending me threatening texts the last few weeks.

I hadn't gotten a text from them over the last few days.

The last text I had gotten from them had said 'Your life will be a living hell.'

It only dawned on me then.

Could they have been the ones to kidnap Wendy?

No. I refuse to believe it.

I opened up the text that tore my whole world apart.

Unknown: You're probably wondering where your beloved darling is, aren't you? I'll give you a clue: she's in a brown, rectangular prism'd box. Yup, in a coffin :). Dead.
