TUESDAY

Later that evening, Kate was sifting through her papers of information from the college. She noted one that stated she needed to get a college email address, regardless if she had a personal email account already. Pulling out her laptop, Kate went to the listed web address and signed up for the college account. The account was for the college to be able to send her news, information, updates, and online assignments through.

Beep-beep! Beep-beep!

Her phone went off, signaling a new text message. Picking up the new iPhone her parents got her for graduating and being accepted to the medical school, she opened the new message. It was from her friend Megan, back home in Glendale.

“Hey CITY GIRL! Hope all is great so far! You should get a Facebook account so we can keep in touch!”

Kate replied to the message. “Yeah, I’ll have to do that. Maybe tonight. There was no need for one in G’dale. Everyone I ever knew was already in town lol.” Hitting ‘send,’ she set her phone down next to her laptop and typed in ‘Facebook.com’ into the address bar.

After several minutes, her account had been created. She typed Megan’s name in the ‘search’ bar. Her friend’s name and picture showed up, and clicking on it to go to her friend’s profile, she clicked on ‘send friend request.’ Kate searched for a few other close friends, and sent them friend requests as well, along with a few family members. She had officially entered the social network society.

Closing her laptop, Kate got up and went to her bathroom. After a long relaxing shower, she brushed out her medium length auburn hair and took out her contacts. Yawning, she crawled into her bed. She had a long day ahead of her tomorrow. She had to take the tour of the college, and get her schedule and books for her classes.
