The Day of Jaehwan's Wedding, 3 pm, Yoongi's POV:

- You had been in the dark for weeks. Or, you thought it had been weeks. Without light, there was no way to tell how much time had actually passed. Jackson's appearances were random, you didn't know if he brought you food in the morning or the middle of the night.

- At least you were no longer tied to that stupid chair. After a cursory exploration of the darkness, you figured out that you were in some sort of cell. If the lack of any sort of breeze was any indication, you guessed it was underground.

- You were currently doing pushups in the dark. There was literally nothing else to do down here, and exercise stopped you from going crazy. It also tired you out so you could sleep. You slept most of the time, but you couldn't sleep forever.

- Jackson had told you about the note he left in your room, so you knew nobody was looking for you. The fact that Jackson was a traitor still shocked you. He was the last person you though would ever betray Namjoon.

- The faint sound of footsteps in the darkness made you stand up. You had mapped your cell in your mind, and instantly pressed your back against the far wall. It was probably just Jackson bringing you your daily meal, but you never took chances in case he decided to try and kill you.

- The beam of a flashlight crossed the wall, and you hissed under your breath and shut your eyes tight. It was the first light you had seen in so long, and the brightness felt light it was searing your retinas.

- "Yoonie?! Are you down here? Tell me your down here!" Jimin's voice called, and your eyes flew open.

- "Yes! I'm here!" you shouted, just as Jimin appeared in front of your cell. He pointed his flashlight at you, and you shielded your eyes with one hand as he exclaimed, "Finally! I've been running around these tunnels for hours!"

- "How did you find me?! I didn't think any was looking for me!" you exclaimed, and he pulled out something that looked like a nail file and began to pick the lock in the barred door.

- "I've been looking for you for weeks! Jin and I didn't believe you had gone after Jaehwan, it was too out of character! I've been all over our and Sanghyuk's kingdom trying to find you, and I just got back!"

- "I saw Jackson sneaking into Ravi's office, and I followed him through a hidden door! I had no clue these tunnels existed until this morning!" You had moved right in front of the bars, and the loud click of the lock opening brought you so much relief.

- Jimin threw the door open and jumped into your waiting arms a second later. You held him as tight at you could, cupping the back of his head and inhaling the smell of his vanilla bean body wash. His warmth enveloped you, piercing the deep chill in your bones.

- You just stood like that for a moment, closing your eyes and pressing your lips against his cheek. Your Minnie was here. He found you.

- "Come on, we have to get out of here before Jackson shows up," you said quietly, releasing Jimin but immediately taking his hand.

- "Jackson isn't coming. He's dead. I got his confession, he was King Sanghyuk's agent and had been for five years," Jimin replied quietly, and your heart skipped a beat.

- "I had no choice. He would have killed me. He caught me following him, but I was faster," Jimin continued, his voice faltering for a moment, and you pulled him back against you.

- "He was a traitor, he would have died anyway. You did the right thing," you said quietly, dotting kisses across his forehead in an attempt to comfort him. "I know," he replied, but you didn't let him go.

Three Days Later

Monday, Your Carriage, 10am, Jin's POV:

- Your grief was complete and all-encompassing. Nothing could penetrate the fog it created in your mind. Not thoughts of your son, not your husbands voice, nothing.

- You had stayed this long because you were unwilling to miss your best friend's funeral. His husband had disappeared after he brought Jaehwan's body back into the palace, not reappearing again until the ceremony.

- He had given a very heartfelt speech, and the funeral had been open to the public because that's what Jaehwan would have wanted. His subjects cried many tears, but you had barely noticed. Nothing but memories of Kenjumma filled your head.

- You knew you were in your carriage, but you didn't actually care. It wasn't where you were in your mind.

- In your mind, you were in the dining room at your old palace. You were just a 23-year-old prince, with no real responsibilities, a guard for a boyfriend, and endless time on your hands.

- You were sitting on your fathers left, trying to listen to what he was saying, but not smiling was very hard. Kenjumma was standing against the wall across from you with Suho, and he wouldn't stop making eyes at you. It was incredibly distracting.

- Your father was discussing something rather somber, but when Kenjumma stuck his tongue out at you, you had accidentally laughed. A grin spread across his face as everyone looked at you, and you quickly took a sip of water and tried to disguise your laugh as a cough.

- "Jinnie, baby, are you hearing me?" Monie said from next to you. You vaguely felt him squeeze your hand, but his voice went in one ear and out the other.

- The memory switched, and you were in your old bedroom. You were only 21 this time, and it was a month after Kenjumma became your guard. The two of you were sitting on the floor, and you had just beaten him at cards for the millionth time.

- "I always win! Can you do magic?! This is impossible!" Kenjumma nearly shouted, smacking his cards down on the floor and slumping in half.

- "I'm unbeatable, Kenjumma, just accept it and move on," you replied happily, dropping your winning hand over him like confetti.

- He made you so happy, it was like Sehun didn't exist when he was with you.

- The present day you closed your eyes, feeling tears start to slide down your cheeks. Kenjumma was the second person to die for you. Both your best friends were gone. You didn't think you would stop crying for the rest of your life.

Namjoon's POV:

- You had your arm securely around Jin's shoulder, and you brushed his tears off his cheeks with your free hand, but you were pretty sure he couldn't hear you.

- You were doing your absolute best to put up a brave front for Jinnie's sake, but it was incredibly difficult. Jaehwan's funeral had been heartbreaking, and one image wouldn't leave your head.

- Jaehwan's gravestone had a beautiful picture of him on it, in formal blue and a flower crown on his head. He was looking back at the camera and seemed just about to smile. Under the image were the words 'The People's Prince of Lucha. Strong, Brave, Loved.'

- You thought the memory of it surrounded by white lotus blossoms would be glued to the inside of your eyelids forever.

- Your ex-guard captain had taken your secret to his grave. You were overwhelmed with grief at his loss, but you couldn't talk to anyone about it without revealing what happened. You wouldn't tell now, you didn't want to tarnish Jaehwan's memory.

- Jaehwan had been loyal to Jin until the end. That's what broke your heart the most. He always said he would die for your husband, and he had. Despite being sick, despite the way he was treated by all of you, despite everything. He was the most loyal person you had ever met.

- Being the murderer of Lucha's prince, Baekhyun didn't get a funeral ceremony. You knew that Tae had gone and lay flowers on his brother's headstone before you all left though.

- He was almost as upset as your husband, but you were too overwhelmed with Jin's sadness to comfort him. That was Jungkook's Job.

Time skip: The Castle Entrance, 5 pm, Jin's POV:

- Monie was holding you tightly, but the feeling of him didn't break through your fog of memory.

- You half heard him say something, and the voices of Jimin and your cousin replied, but you didn't catch their words.

- In your mind, you were in your bathroom at the old palace, watching as Kenjumma rinsed his hair out in your sink.

- It was the only time he let you dye his hair, and both of you were laughing at the bright teal color. He turned off the tap and shook his head like a puppy, sending water droplets everywhere before dropping a towel over his face.

- Then, it was a few days later. The two of you were in the library, and you were staring at his wavy blue hair as it caught the sunlight from the window. "Don't stop reading, Mr. Smurf. I want to finish this story before dinner," you said playfully, and he scowled at you before continuing to read.

- You had called your guard a smurf for a solid week but dyed your hair pink so that the two of you looked like cotton candy.

- "Jinnie, let's go inside," Monies voice said in your ear, and you let him pull you into the little castle.

- Once inside, you took off and walked as fast as you could, heading straight for Yoonsun's nursery. Hongbin and Jaebum were on your heels, but you shut the door before they could follow you inside.

- "Eomma!" your son shrieked from his crib, and you scooped him up, cradling him against you and sitting in the arm chair as your silent tears started up again.

Flash Forward Three Years:

- Jaebum has assumed the job of The Royal Head of Security, and he and Hongbin are always watching Jin's back, unless they are with the kids.

- Jin finally moved past his grief six months after Jaehwan's death, and two years ago he and Namjoon adopted a baby girl, Princess Yoonhwan.

- Ravi quit his job as soon as Jaehwan's funeral was over, and he returned to being a bounty hunter. Youngjae stayed, but with his lord's death, he stopped spying and threw himself into composing. Nobody ever figured out that either of them was a spy.

- Yugyeom turned out to be just as crafty a leader as his big brother, and despite Hyuk's accusation, he got away with the murder of Jinyoung and his father.

- Kai and Kyungsoo finally got married six months ago, and Hoseok ended up meeting a lovely princess in one of the neighboring kingdoms. The two have been courting for about a year, and he plans to propose in the summer.

- To everyone's surprise, Jimin and Yoongi also got married, and the royal children now have a baby cousin, a girl named Jirah.

- Jungkook and Taehyung are still too young to contemplate having kids, and they now live at the palace in Jin's old capital but visit the little castle regularly.

- To this day, Jin keeps Jaehwan' small framed picture of the two of them on his desk, and it is one of his most treasured possessions.

- Namjoon never told anyone his and Jaehwan's secret and was never unfaithful again. His love for Jin and their children grows with each passing day, and the feeling is mutual.

- Jaehwan goes down in history as the most beloved royal in Lucha's history, despite only technically being crowned for four hours before his untimely death. The People's Prince lives on in the hearts and minds of his subjects and friends.

- The war between Lucha and Amoura continues to this day, with no end in sight.

- King Sanghyuk almost never leaves the seaside palace, but he hasn't stopped plotting, not for a moment. The loss of his Jaehwanie on their wedding night nearly broke him, and he never remarried. Instead, he uses his prince's memory like fuel as he makes plans to take over every kingdom he can.
