Author's Note- still on a hiatus... But I was allowed a break today towards the end of my groundation. In yearbook class, I discovered a bonus scene. Another version of their first kiss that I wrote earlier. You see, as a hopeless romantic I was getting sick of the fact they weren't together yet so I wrote the scene waaay too early. I've outlined my next book, designed the cover, and am working on chapter one! Anyway, I didn't think I'd be adding to this but, why not? Sorry it's short. :(

"Imogen?" Declan approached me carefully. His blue eyes were vulnerable and peaceful, like a mask had been removed from his face. He grabbed my arm and turned me around to make eye contact.

Tears were still streaming down my cheeks, but he just wiped them gently. I looked up at him. "Why are you here? Don't you hate me? Aren't you mad?"

"I'm sorry," He said. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

"For what?" I crinkled my eyebrows.

"I hurt you. All this time. You never did anything to me- and I just hurt you. Just because you were easy to hurt," He pressed a hand to his forehead. "God knows that I'm an idiot."

"It doesn't matter," I looked away. He tilted my face up to his, eyes wide and glazing over with tears of his own.

"It does," He told me simply. "After the world ended I only had one regret."

"And what was that?" I sniffled.

"That the whole time I was convinced to hate you for almost no reason- I wasn't falling in love with you like I am now," Declan pressed his forehead to mine.

I couldn't believe my ears. My cheeks were flushed and my brain was in hyperdrive. What? What did he just say? "What?" My voice was a mere whisper.

"I should've done this a long time ago."

His lips were on mine in an instant.

He was kissing me with everything he had, pulling me closer to him while he weaved his fingers through my hair. I kissed back, I didn't know why but I did. He trailed his lips to my face and let me catch my breath.

"I love you," The words were breathless.

His heart was racing and it was because of me. I brought his hand to my pulse on my frail wrist- my good wrist, so he knew I was the same. I felt very, very sixteen. Typically you grow up after the world ends, but not in all areas.

"I'm stupid," He kissed me. "I loved you- I love you. I was stupid."

"Was I the girl you were talking about? The girl you loved?"

"Love. Present tense," He pulled me closer, leaving me to listen to his heart and the trees dancing in the breeze.
