Nico was kissing me and I still couldn't believe it. I didn't know where it would lead us, I didn't even know what was he thinking about. At the beginning of our friendship, he told me he wanted to sleep with me but I let very clear that I didn't want more than what we had. I thought he just wanted that, he was used to sleeping around, I bet most of his friends had passed by his bed. But he told me he liked me as more than a friend, what did he mean? Did I just unconsciously agreed to have sex occasionally? Or did he mean he liked me romantically?

How could he say I was smart? I felt so dumb. I didn't understand a thing.

His phone rang. Nico pulled away and gave me a tight smile, grabbing it from his pocket. As he talked, he intertwined his fingers with mine, and pulled me towards the red brick building again. I let him do, I felt dizzy and a tingling sensation down my stomach, the butterflies from our kiss still fluttering around. When we got inside, he ended the phone call. He guided me down the stairs, people passing by and congratulating him. Some of them gifted me with curious glances, some of them as if they knew something I did not.

"People are loving it." I said.

"They're making good offers." He smiled, guiding me to the bar.

"What is a good offer to you?" I asked, leaning on the bar.

"We're talking thousands." He muttered, getting closer to my ear so I could hear him over the music.

"Really?" I asked, opening my eyes wide.

He nodded, a big smile on his face. "It's a good night."

He ordered two drinks, one coke for him, one non alcoholic apple liqueur for me. It tasted sweet, he thought I would like it.

"I want one." I said, a little embarrassed nodding to the paintings. A blush creeping up my neck.

"You want one?"

"It's only fair, since I was the one who inspired you." I half smiled, taking a sip.

When he got closer to my face, I caught my breath. "I'll paint one just for you." He spoke into my ear.

"Nico, my boy!"

We quickly turned around to see Luca and Riley, along with that couple they introduced me once, Ace and Tina, I believe they were called.

"Hey!" Nico laughed as Luca picked him up from the floor, ruffling his hair.

They all talked for a moment, congratulating him, until Riley saw me.

"Cara, hey!" She smiled at me as she gave me a quick hug. "Do you remember Martina, right?"

Oh, so that was her name. "Yeah." I said waving at her.

She smiled. "So, how does it feel being the main character in the room?"

"The main character?"

"Girl, you're all over the paintings, everyone is worshipping you."

I took a sip, trying to calm down. I was used to being the center of attention when I was on the ice, but right now I just felt like a fish out of the water.

"To be honest," I began, "I didn't know what the exhibition was about."

"Really?" Riley asked surprised. They both opened their eyes wide.

"But you let him paint you." Martina added.

"Nope." I chuckled. "It was all in his imagination. I could never pose like that." I mumbled, more embarrassed by each minute.

"They're still not dating, Martina." Riley smiled, somewhat looking excited. "Can you believe that?"

"What?" I asked, not understanding.

"Oh my god." Martina laughed. "That boy's got it bad for you." What does that even mean? She then glanced down at my empty drink. "Want another one? What's your poison?"

Riley sensed my confused expression. "She means drink." She chuckled.

"I- Uhm-"

"What was that? Cider?" Martina asked.

"Yes." I nodded. "It's... cider."

I know what you're thinking about, I couldn't drink alcohol. Well, good news. I was still on a break from meds, so I technically could.

Nico was talking to a bunch of people. After our kiss, we didn't have much time to talk, and I got it, but my head was spiraling and I needed to clarify some things.

The way he talked to people, the way he touched their shoulders, the way his intense look studied every person... I was beginning to think my thoughts were not deceiving me. He may want me just to have sex with him.

But maybe tonight, after one cider and a half, I was willing to let my guard down.

Turned out, the party was actually at the gallery. The music didn't stop and people started to get more and more drunk. I danced with Martina and Riley, the latter not very happy at the beginning, but completely loving it after a few drinks. Martina said this party was the perfect excuse since she wasn't celebrating her birthday this year. I had totally forgot but she was getting married. The guys were talking, but after much convincing from Luca's part, they came to dance too.

Ace and Martina had some sexy moves that could be choreographed, and Luca was really good at dancing, although he was more focused on making Riley laugh, which she did, hard.

"Hey."

I turned to my left to see Nico standing there. He had a smile on his face. "How is it going?" I asked, maybe I stumbled a little, but I had turned too fast.

"Great. I might be keeping my apartment after all."

"Wow. You're rich again?" I widened my eyes.

He laughed. "I'm not rich, but I may have verbally agreed to do a private collection to a very wealthy man-"

"Translation?" I asked.

"I'm not rich at the moment, but I can be." He smiled.

I smiled up at him. God, he looked so good. I felt my lips tingling, I wanted to kiss him again. I glanced down at his mouth.

"Wanna get out of here?" He asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

I nodded out of air. He grabbed my hand, gently pulling me towards the exit. He said goodbye to everyone as he did so, but I could just concentrate on walking up the stairs.

"Where are we going? Don't- don't you have to talk to more people?" I was feeling hot and sweaty down there, the cool breeze of the night making me shiver. Nico put his jacket around my shoulders.

"All business is done. I just want to be with you." He looked down at me. "Unless you wanted to stay-"

I shook my head, my lower stomach getting tingly just by the way his eyes pierced mine.

"Let's go to my apartment, did you bring your car?" He asked, rubbing his hands along my arms.

"Mhm, no. I mean, yeah. But I can't drive." I said.

"Why?" He furrowed his brow and scoffed amused. "Did you drink?"

I looked away.

"You did?" He widened his eyes. "But I thought you..."

"I'm still not taking any meds, it's okay." I blurted out.

"I'll have to look up the side effects of that." He frowned, the amused expression not leaving his face. "Okay, hand me your keys, I'll drive. I came with my manager."

As I handed him my purse, I laughed. "Oh, a manager! you're famous now?"

Nico rolled his eyes amused, hanging my purse on his shoulder as we walked.

I didn't remember where I had exactly parked, so it took us almost twenty minutes to find it.

His apartment was dark and warm. The only lights the ones in the street coming from the big glass walls. I waited until he turned the lights on and made me enter his room.

"Want something to eat?"

I shook my head.

"Does your mom know you're here?"

"She knows I went to the gallery." I muttered, taking off his jacket as I sat on the bed.

"Okay, text her letting her know you're staying, I need to take a quick shower." He smiled.

Oh, so apparently I was staying.

I nodded and lay back on his bed after I took off my shoes. I was nervous, but also incredibly hot just thinking about it. Were we gonna do it? Maybe it was the alcohol making me feel hot, but I wasn't really sure if I wanted to.

I texted my mom, I told her I was staying. She sent me a thumbs up and I tried to relax on the bed.

I could do it, right? It wasn't so difficult. I didn't remember having to do anything at all. What I remember was the pain. God, I didn't know if I was prepared for the pain. But Nico said sex was supposed to feel good. Would it feel good?

Maybe I just needed to go through with it. Maybe he'd like me more if I did?

Nico got out of the shower quicker than I thought he would. He wore a pair of basketball shorts that were hanging low, his chest fully naked, displaying his own art gallery of ink.

He was quickly drying his hair with a towel as he looked at me. Little water drops running from his shoulders along his collar bone, all the way to the scar in the middle of his chest. "You look amazing tonight. I didn't tell you before, but you do."

I tried to fight my smile as he threw the towel to his desk, coming to sit beside me. His eyes searched mine slowly, his hand coming to meet my cheek, brushing my hair away from it.

"Nico." I whispered, glancing down at his lips. My head felt dizzy again and right now I didn't know if it was because of his proximity or because of the alcohol.

"Mhm?"

"Are you gonna kiss me again?"

One of the corners of his mouth, curled up into a smile. "Maybe." He said softly. "Do you want me to?"

I nodded.

His expression changed into a serious one when he closed the space between us and pressed his lips against mine. Relief came over me at the same time as the heat I was feeling deepened. Contradictorily, that relief I was feeling, crushed down into pieces when the need to have him closer became stronger. He kissed me harder and I didn't pull away, I just pulled him closer. He opened my mouth with his tongue and I let him. I was all his for tonight. Grabbing my waist he lifted me up from the mattress and placed me on his lap so I was straddling him.

I felt him hard under me, and I gotta admit, I got a little scared. But I kept on kissing him, my nervousness seemed to get weaker as his lips mixed with mine.

We pulled away out of breath, his thumb caressing my cheek as the other hand rested just above my butt. I studied his eyes. He studied mine. "Okay." I swallowed. "I'll do it."

"You'll do what?" He asked with a frown.

"I- I'll have sex with you."

His frown deepened.

"You-" I glanced down at his chest and traced one of his tattoos, suddenly embarrassed to meet his eyes. "You said you wanted to be more than friends, so I- I guess the next thing you usually do-"

Nico shook his head. "Do you really think that what I said was about sex?" I glanced up at him, giving him my reply with my eyes. "God, no, Cara. It was not like that. I... Putain, we need to have a talk." He closed his eyes as he sighed. "I'm not having sex with you tonight, okay?"

"Why? Don't you want to?"

"You're drunk, bébé." He brushed his lips against mine, comforting me a little. "You don't even want to do it."

I keep staring at him. "How do you know?"

"You're not ready." He gave me a tight smile.

"It's not fair, you know everything!" I blurted out.

He laughed. "I don't know everything, but I've learned to read you."

I rested my head on his shoulders, my lips brushing his neck. "What do I want right now?"

"Well." He said, softly rubbing my back. "You're tired, you just want to go to sleep."

"You're so smart." I said, my eyes already closing after I yawned.

Nico stroked my hair and whispered on my ear. "Goodnight, Cara." He kissed my temple. "We'll talk tomorrow, okay?"

I nodded and let him engulf me in his arms, as he lied us both down on the bed. Last thing I felt, was the covers being pulled over my body and his arms wrapping around me.

Even if it didn't last, even if I was a mess, even if I ruined it all, I could get used to this.
