Yoongi's POV

That night Yoongi touched her belly, rubbing it affectionately.

"I can't believe our kid is in there." He said, resting his ear against her bump. Our kid. The kid he wanted to raise together. He fell asleep with his hand still on her belly. Something had still seemed off about Y/N but he assumed she was maybe a little touchy that he'd misjudged her. He was just relieved that it hadn't been what he thought. And...yeah he felt a little guilty. And resolved to do better next time.

Y/N was wide awake, her insides churning. It had taken everything in her to act somewhat normal until he fell asleep. She had purposefully tried to avoid hurting him and had still done it. Had been doing it this whole time. He'd been so upset earlier, she hadn't seen him that upset in awhile. And looking at him in his studio, she realized how much her indecision was killing him. How much of a toll it was taking on him. How scared he was of losing her.

When he'd turned to walk away and she finally found her voice she'd wanted to yell at him, to plead with him not to leave. She'd have done anything right then. She wanted to tell him she loved him.

And that's why she had to leave. She looked down at his sleeping face, tears silently falling down her cheeks. She didn't deserve him. And he didn't deserve to have his heart wrecked. If she stayed she'd just keep doing it. The rest of their lives she'd do it. He'd hurt. Because he loved her. And it had scared her to realize she was willing to throw away all her self-respect right then, once again, to beg a man to not leave. She loved him too much to let him subject himself to hurt anymore.

This would hurt too but someday he'd meet a nice girl and he'd forget. His feelings and memories would fade and he'd be okay. Maybe she would be too.

She let herself lean down and softly kiss his forehead, then she carefully moved out of the bed. She pulled a spare duffel bag out of their hallway closet and threw in some clothes and toiletries. That was all she'd take. She wasn't needed anymore, she finished signing the paperwork for the company earlier that morning. She was the Chairwoman in name only, Lee had at last gotten his reward for his steadfast loyalty.

There was just one last thing she needed him to do.

Yoongi was awakened by his doorbell ringing and he cursed, instantly worrying that it would wake Y/N up. He groaned and rolled over, eyes opening a little wider when he realized she wasn't laying next to him. She'd probably already gotten up and would grab it. He closed his eyes, trying to settle back in to dream land, but became annoyed when it went off again. Was she in the bathroom...? He sighed and slowly hauled himself out of bed.

His hair was sticking up every which way and he was yawning as he opened the door to see Lee.

"Uh." That wasn't who he'd expected to see. "Hi." Lee looked serious.

"May I come in?"

"Um...yeah, sure..." Yoongi stepped aside to let him in and gestured towards the living room. Lee waved him off.

"I'm not staying. I just..." He hesitated.

"You need Y/N?" Yoongi said, already turning towards the hallway to go knock on the bathroom door.

"No. She's not there." Yoongi took two more steps before he comprehended what Lee had said. He slowly turned around. No. What...his brain was muddled this early in the morning.

"How do you..."

"Mr. Min." Lee's face was grave and he hesitantly put a hand on Yoongi's shoulder, trying to communicate through that simple touch how much he disagreed with his former employer's choice. How much he wished she was here and he wasn't. "She's chosen. She's gone."

Yoongi was sure that audible crash he heard was the sound of his aching heart shattering into a million, jagged pieces.
