Yoongi's POV

He took several deep breathes as the elevator ascended, way too slowly for his liking. He had tried to get off work soon as possible but he wasn't sure she was awake.

She was. Head bent over a textbook at the dining room table, short hair falling forward. She looked up and gave him a smile that sent his heart-rate through the roof.

He'd spent all day over-thinking, wondering if things would be awkward when he got home. But he had wanted to see her so bad he didn't let those thoughts stop him...

"Anyeongsaeyo."

"Anyeong." She looked a little surprised at his lack of formality but, after all, he was older than her. And he liked her. And, no matter what had brought them together, he wanted to bring every wall between them down.

He leaned over her chair, looking at what she was working on.

"You're very smart." He observed quietly.

"Gomawayo." That's how they stayed. Her working on her studies, him enjoying the fact that he could stand there and it was okay. He could just do this. It was no big deal but yet it was. The fact that it wasn't a big deal anymore made it one.

"I can't believe you liked it that much." He mumbled into his face mask as they exited the auditorium. Even though she had a scarf wrapped around her face and the hood of her jacket up, he knew she was grinning.

Yoongi appreciated music, all kinds of music. He got inspiration from everywhere. But he was still trying to figure out why Y/N had looked so enraptured listening to....Mozart. It was good just....not that good, in his opinion.

She was walking fast, too fast. He glared at a couple that cut between them but they didn't notice, too caught up in their own conversation.

"Y/N." He grabbed for her hand, a little harder than he'd intended, and she stopped. "Sorry, I just don't want to lose you..." He could barely see her face back in her hood but he definitely saw the whites of her eyes and knew she'd rolled them.

"C'mon, it's cold." She was always careful to not say his name the few times they went out in public.

He had thought grabbing her hand might keep them together, and it did, but only because he had to pick up his speed and almost trot to keep up with her.

"Brrrrr." He shivered, rubbing his arms when they got home.

"You've lived in Korea your whole life. I feel like you should be used to the cold by now." Y/N teased him.

"Only soulless people get used to the cold." He shot back.

"I'm not soulless."

"And soulless people also reeeeaaally like Mozart. Really."

"You need more culture."

"I'm the seventh most cultured man in Korea!"

"So, in other words, you're the least cultured." She snorted, walking into the living room.

He liked this banter. They were becoming more comfortable with each other and he had discovered a talent for sass that he didn't realize she had.

He followed her but she was already looking out the window, onto the balcony. He heard her say something so quiet he didn't catch it.

"Bwa?" He looked over her shoulder, out at the lights of Seoul.

"When I went to Switzerland a couple years ago, my cousin took me to see the Zurich Symphony Orchestra. They played Mozart."

"Oh." Now he felt kind of bad about messing with her about it. She could be a chatter-box when talking about what she learned at the university but if he tried asking her about her past she shut down. He wasn't sure if it was because it was bad or just made her sad about their current situation, but it made the few details she opened up about precious to him.

"So it reminded you of a happy time?" She nodded and he smiled a little.

"Well then I'm glad."

"It was...I guess that trip was kind of formative for me." She said softly. He almost held his breath, not wanting to make a noise that might disturb her train of thought and shut her down. "I was happy. After that I knew I wanted to travel for the rest of my life. It's why..." She stopped. "It was like a new lease on life after...maybe if I hadn't gone I wouldn't be here now...but then I'd still be there..." Her voice had dropped and her mumblings made no sense to him. After...what? What was wrong with wherever "there" was? She made it sound like right here might actually be preferable. He didn't think her mind was even in this room and this time anymore, it sounded like it was wandering.

So he took a deep breath and reached forward to give her hand a gentle squeeze and plant a soft kiss on her cheek. The first time he had ever kissed her. Every day he felt like he was pushing some kind of new boundary in their relationship.

"I'm glad we went to the concert." He whispered in her ear. Because I got to spend time with you. Because in this world there is someone who truly understands me. Because sometimes I wish I could just spend the whole day with you. He tried to convey all those emotions in that one sentence.
