Epilogue

I went to the college Brad and I were accepted to for a year before Aaron and I had the wedding. We had the wedding at the vacation house on the beach.

I walked down the flower petal covered aisle carrying a red rose bouquet and letting my bare feet dig into the sand. My dress was a simple white spaghetti strap dress that went down to my feet and had a slit up the side to my mid-thigh. My hair hung straight and wasn’t clipped back by anything, I had light make-up and my engagement ring shone on my finger as my dad led me back down the aisle for the second time in my life.

Although this time I didn’t run away. I took Aaron’s hand and stayed for the whole ceremony. We both said I do before everyone moved farther down the beach.

Kalina, Hailey, and Heather had all been my bride’s maids and I’d left an open chair for Zoe. Zane and Brad had accompanied Hailey and Kalina as their dates, their relationships were still going strong. I’d sent an invitation to Nate, I wasn’t as close with him as we used to be because he went to an out of state college but he came to the wedding and he brought a girl he had just started seeing a girl named Julie. She was lovely.

For the dinner we had different appetizers, steak, and dinosaur chicken nuggets.

The ocean waves crashing against the shore rivaled against Zane’s band playing music.

Aaron and I got the first dance and when he stepped on my feet we both laughed and kissed each other.

The night was almost over which meant it was time for Aaron and to get in the car to head to our honeymoon.

He whispered in my ear before I smiled and nodded.

He intertwined our fingers and we both took off sprinting. I heard Zane get our other friend’s attention and I looked back and Zane, Hailey, Nate, his date Julie, Kalina, and Brad were all following us. They kicked off their shoes and dropped their jackets but Aaron and I just rushed in. We ran out until the water was up to our ribs. He pulled me closer by my waist and spun me around.

We suck down into the water and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I opened my eyes and even though the salt water burned I ignored it because Aaron’s eyes were already open, and they were looking at me. I leaned closer and kissed him again.

This must be what a fairy tale feels like.

********************

A year after that Zane and Hailey were married, and Kalina and Brad were engaged.

Zane had joked about making me the best man, but I was a bride’s maid for both weddings even though Kalina’s came a year and half after that.

Nate and Julie married three years after Brad and Kalina’s wedding, although they’d had two sons before they’d gotten married.

After I had graduated college I started my own 'Dancing Boutique' where I taught children to dance and trained dancers and a dancing team. Aaron had considered the army, but I talked him out of it and instead he trained to be a fireman and had graduated from the training program with flying colors.

Years later I found myself back at the vacation house where we had all spent our summers sense our graduating summer.

“Hey, no running in the house!” I jokingly yelled at Ian, Melissa, Trey, and Jace.

“They won’t listen.” Aaron said wrapping an arm around my waist.

Julie walked into the room after seeing he boys run out the back door. “I think it’s a twin thing.” She said laughing while holding their youngest child, Rose who was two.

Aaron and I had Ian and Melissa a year after the wedding. They were eight now, and were twins. Although we lucked out with having two different gender twins, Nate and Julie had Trey and Jace who looked nearly the same except for their eyes. Trey had blue eyes and Jace had green. We had named Zoey after Zoe of course. They even looked a little alike.

Our other daughter Zoey started fighting with our youngest son Danny. Zoey was five and Danny was three. We had named Zoey after Zoe of course. They even looked a little alike. “Hey you two!” I said pointing a finger at them. “Don’t fight or you can’t go to the beach today.” They stopped immediately and apologized.

“Want me to go check if Sierra is awake yet?” Aaron asked before kissing my cheek. I nodded and he left to walk upstairs to the nursery. Sierra was our newest and final child, she was one.

I heard the door open and Kalina and Brad walked in carrying their daughter Jill who was two, and their son Alexander who was four. Their oldest daughter Lianne, who was seven, sprinted in front of them when I mentioned that the other older kids were on the beach. She ran out the door barely saying hello to anyone us.

Zane and Hailey were the last to arrive and they brought their son Sam who was two and was sleeping in Hailey’s arms, and their daughter Zalee who was seven. I believe her name was Zane’s idea. He thought it was smart because it was a combination of both of their names. I just hope she doesn’t get picked on.

We had all spent money on building on to the house to make it bigger so there would be more bedrooms for the kids to share.

We considered us all family because we’d made each other the god parents of our children.

We all sat outside holding the younger kids as most of them played on the beach. Some ran in the water, but only up to their shins because it was a rule we made, some of them made sand castles and Trey and Jace chased Melissa down the beach with some sea weed they had found.

Nate called after them to stop but they either ignored their father or didn’t hear him.

“Someday they’ll be able to come here on their own.” Hailey said sighing while rocking Sam who had previously been screaming.

“I wonder if they will.” Kalina said sounding more like she said it to herself than anyone else.

“I’m sure whatever they decide to do, they’ll be happy.” Aaron said wrapping an arm around me as I shifted Sierra between us. “Just like us.”
