chapter 15

When Harry and I finally relaxed, we were suddenly tired. Harry gathered his things and I pulled on a pair of sweats and my previously worn shirt along with a towel and quickly headed over to the bathrooms.

I went about my business and showered, trying to rid of the sweat in my hair that would eventually make it oily. I rinsed my body after all that moisture that made me feel disgusting.

Sex, great. The aftermath otherwise known as showered in your own sweat? Gross.

When I got back, what I thought was gonna be an empty cabin was actually a room with the light on and Harry passed out on a bunk. My bunk.

I sigh, not wanting to wake him so I threw a blanket, I had folded, over him and climbed up his bunk after shutting off the light. The ceiling was so low, I'm surprised he hadn't hit his head yet.

The next day, it was casual. Harry and I weren't awkward; not when we got up. Not when we got to breakfast. There were no awkward glances between us from across the room. Nothing.

Even when we got to our cabin to change, despite the silence, we weren't awkward in the slightest.

Mr. Adams called us out to the centre of the cabin facilities in order to inform us of the activity we'd been assigned to today.

For some reason he thought setting up a tent would be a great lesson to learn today.. Even though we sleep in a perfectly set cabin.

Harry and I waited in line and got our supplies that were handed to us one by one and given an assignment that I thought would be a piece of cake, which actually wound up being a total nightmare.

Now, hours after meeting with the class and getting our stuff, here we were, middle of the woods, just barely halfway through setting up our tent which was to be done today; and all I've done is watch Harry failing miserably as he attempted to set up the tent that honestly looked like a rag being held up by a stick.

I have tried numerous times to help him but every time I even stepped no little to five feet near him, or even the tent, he'd throw a fit claiming I did something wrong.

So I just stood. I stood back, bored and frustrated that I couldn't do anything to help; as much I didn't want to, but needed to in order to get a grade for this trip.

Sure, there were other activities we were to be graded for but this was only the second one and the last thing I needed was starting out this trip with a bad grade, all thanks to Harry.

"Harry, the more you struggle the more frustrated you get and its gonna make you struggle even more," I yell out to him as he tried to hold the tent upright.

"Well, maybe if you helped it'd be easier," He yelled angrily back at me.

"I tried helping you like ten times now and you keep shooing me away-"

"Because you're doing it wrong!"

"Well, from the looks of it you're clearly not doing it right, either," I growl, rolling my eyes.

"How's it going?" Mr. Adams comes up behind me, smiling at the shitty progress before him.

"What do you think?" I hold my hand out towards Harry with a narrowed gaze at our teacher.

Mr. Adams just nods, still smiling his spine chilling smile and walking away without a word.

Mikaela then comes up beside me moments later, "Hey, how's the tent coming?" She asks before looking over at Harry's struggle.

"I know this is mainly participation grade but what's the point if Harry isn't letting me do anything."

"Have you tried-"

"Ten times now and he keeps yelling at me saying I did it wrong," I huff. "How's yours?"

"Working with Miranda isn't so bad. Despite the fact that she snores crazy loud at night, I feel kinda good about having her as my partner," She smiles and I frown at her.

"You're just using her for an A, aren't you?"

"She's got brains," Mikaela shrugs and I roll my eyes.

"Listen, while I've got you here, I really need to talk to you later."

"Sure, cafeteria after we get graded?"

I nod and she walks away.

A bell then goes off just as Harry finally gets a piece of the tent to stand on its own.

"Wait, wha- Ray, what.. What time is it!?" Harry yells in panic.

I don't answer. But I can tell from the way he sees everyone gathering up and leaving the area full of perfectly set tents, even ones not so perfect but still set up, he slaps our poorly made tent angrily and watches as it shamefully falls to the ground; hopeless.

I grunt, turning on my heel and catching up to the group without saying a word.

We may have gotten the whole getting along thing down to deal with, but we clearly have team work skills to work on, as well. And I can only imagine how that's gonna work out.

hope this one was okay. it was an old chapter but it got unpublished & republished now so it makes more sense in the story. it was short but a filler, of course.
