All the blood in my face drained and dread filled me. Oh no, no, no, no! What would he think now after seeing me with Brian getting out a janitor's closet?! We all knew what students in the janitor's closet do and it would make no exception for me.

Blake's eyes drifted towards Brian who had one of his hands on my shoulder. Betrayal and anger filled his eyes as he turned back to me. I opened my mouth to explain but he abruptly turned away from me and walked away. I didn't know what to do- let him cool off or run after him? Conflicted feelings kept circling and I could feel myself panicking.

"Go after him," Brian said. I looked up but he averted my gaze and removed his hand from my shoulder.

"I-"

"-go now," he interrupted and gave me a slight push to the school doors. Before I could rethink, I took off in the direction Blake took and thrust open the door to the school yard. A few meters away from me I could see a tall guy clad in dark jeans and a black jacket getting into his car.

"Blake!" I screamed before I could even make out what I was doing. The guy's head whipped back and surprise flitted across his face before anger quickly replaced it. He wrenched open the door just as I pelted down the stairs and towards the parking area. "Wait!" I called and just when he was going to enter the car, I curled my fist around his collar.

He staggered back slightly and snatched my hand away, "Don't touch me," he hissed. To my great shock, I felt something painful in my chest. Was I actually hurt by his words? I quickly shook off the thought.

"Please, listen, it's not what you think!" I tried to reach out to him once again but he stepped away and I felt the pain again.

"Or is it? You mean to say that you didn't just run away from me to go get it on with Brian in the janitor's closet?" He growled.

"I didn't do anything with him!" I instantly denied.

"You seriously think I'm that stupid to believe that?" He sent me a disgusted look and that hurt me more than I could possibly imagine. I could manage anger and disappointment but disgust? The kind of look that you would give to sluts and people who would give away their body for free.

I could feel tears pricking at the back of my eyes.

"How could you? How could you even think about me so lowly?" I shook my head slowly and took a step back, hurt and disbelief portrayed my face clearly. He blinked and his face slowly started to change as if he had just realised what he had said but the damage had already been done.

"You know what? After showing me how little faith you have in me, I really wish I had done something with Brian now," I spat. He froze as his eyes widened in shock. I didn't wait around for him to move, I just walked back to school.

And he didn't come after me.

I speeded to my locker with the intention of going to clear my head but standing in front of it was Stacy, Brian's sister. I slowed down to a a stop before frowning, "Hey?"

"Hey! You do remember me, right? I'm Stacy," She grinned.

"I do remember you but what are you doing in front of my locker?" I grimaced at my choice of words as she laughed. I really did have to talk more nicely in society.

"I wanted to go to lunch with you," She bit her lip nervously and I could hardly believe what I had just heard. Did she really want to go with lunch with me? Since when had someone said that to me?

"Uh- uh am flattered but..." I didn't know what to tell her. I wanted to get away from school but at the same time I wanted to stay and walk to the cafeteria with Stacy, "Ok, I'll just put away this book," I finally said. Her eyes instantly brightened up and she nodded enthusiastically.

"Come on, we can go now," I gestured and she instantly went to stand by my side. Although she was wearing heels, she was still a few inches shorter.

"You know; you seem like you would make a really good friend," Stacy suddenly said. I nearly stopped walking in shock.

"I...Um, thanks," I blinked. She laughed, "You're certainly not used to compliments."

"I'm not," I chuckled in agreement.

"Here we are," She said while pulling on the doors to let the sounds of laughter and clatter of plates reach our ears, "You can sit at my table- if you want that is."

"Sure," I laughed and we headed for the trays of food. I stuck my hand in my pockets and only felt two coins. Well there goes my lunch- I'll just have to hold in my hunger until dinner.

Stacy took a tray and then turned to me, "Aren't you going to eat?"

"Nah, I'm not hungry," I shook my head and she rose a questioning eyebrow.

"You're not on a diet, are you?"

"No, come on let's go join the others," I quickly changed the subject and thankfully, she stopped questioning me.

"Hey, guys!" Stacy chirped before leaping into her seat. I waved and a chorus of 'hey's' was heard. My eye caught Brian's as I sat down next to him and he sent me a lopsided smile.

"Hello again, Hayley," he said.

"Hey," I smiled back sadly. I really didn't mean what I said to Blake- he was just so immature that it made me explode.

"I'm guessing that it didn't go too well?" He grimaced.

"You guessed right," I sighed.

"I'm so sorry, this is all my fault for trying to talk to you in the first place," he groaned.

"No, no, you are not to be blamed for anything," I shook my head, "Everything will re-arrange itself, I'm sure,"

And I really hoped it would go as I said.
