Max's P.O.V

She walked out of that door, I sat on the couch my face buried in my hands. How could I say all those things to her like that?

I know I'm mean and cold. She deserves someone better. She deserves a proper job with a good boss. Not a shitty boss like me.

She knew so much about me and I didn't even know anything about her only where she lives and that she used to be with Matt Marley also she is friends with my only ex Alex.

I got up from the couch I have to look for her. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and rang her number as I walked out of my office. Hers in front of the office just as you walk in and out.

I heard a ringtone I walked over to her desk and saw her bag I picked it up and placed it on the desk her phone was there ringing I picked the phone up. The caller ID was Dipshit.

I put it back in her bag and put her bag back where it was. I walked out of the doors only to see Matt in front of me.

"Hey we got a problem "He said with sigh "It's important "

I looked at him I have to find River "Can it wait?"

He looked at me and hesitated for a second "I'll take that as a yes "I said "I have to do something important "

"Well I'll bring the files and give them to River?"He suggested "Then you could look at them straight after when you come "

"No "

"Why?"

"Because she isn't there "I sighed "she's gone out to do something "

He nodded "I'll come back after " then he left.

I quickly walked to the stairs area and walked down those stairs really quick.

I had to find her.

I ran the streets of New York and I even walked in all of the shops she wasn't there at all.

I ran down to Avenue street and walked into the shop there. It was a Chinese restaurant. She wasn't there. Where could she be?

I walked out of the shop I pulled out my phone ready to call Linton. I turned my head a little only to see her there.

I put my phone down and slipped it in my pocket as I looked at her. I ran towards her. Her top was rip her trousers was down to her knees.

She had a rag in her mouth I placed her body on my lap her eyes were closing "Riv "I spoke softly "I'm so sorry "

She couldn't even look at me my heart was aching so badly. "Don't close your eyes!"I scolded her "Just don't I need to call an ambulance "

Her eyes closed. "River!"I said frantically "River!"

Her eyes were still shut I pulled out my phone and rang the ambulance." They'll be here "I stroked her hair softly "Then we will sort us out "

I looked at her the bruises on her face. The bruises she had on her legs on her stomach. I can't believe I let her walk out and I should of went after her straight after then this wouldn't of happened.

"Wait till I find out the people that did this "I whispered "I'll torture them I'll make them bleed "

The ambulance came and she was took on the stretcher. The paramedic looked at me "Are you going with her?"

I nodded and got in that ambulance I looked at her she had a oxygen mask on face  as the paramedic was taking her bloods.

I held her hands and my thumb rubbed her wrist softly as I looked at her. Those big brown dazzling eyes of hers. That cute nose of hers. The way she bites her lip. Her comebacks.

The paramedic looked at me "She's been through a lot "She sighed "Whoever did this to her are pigs "

I nodded and just kept my eyes on her just her. Just to taste her lips again. Just to touch her face again.

The ambulance stopped and then I got out she was rushed in I tried to go in with her but they wouldn't let me.

I sat down in the waiting room, I pulled out my phone and called Linton.

"Hello"He spoke in a gruff tone "What is it?"

"Meet me at the office at nine "I replied "We got some shit to do "

"Yeah I'll see you then "

Then I put my phone in my pocket and the nurse walked over to me "We set her up in a room "She said "She isn't awake she on machines and is on morphine "

"Can I see her?"

She nodded and started to walk I followed her then we were in this room. River was on the bed with machines behind her and a drip was there.

The nurse left I walked to her side and sat down on the chair. I put my hand on top of hers "I'm so sorry River "I sighed "I should of came earlier then this wouldn't of happened at all "

My phone buzzed I picked it up from my pocket and looked at it was Matt. I placed a kiss on her cheek then walked out of the room I answered the phone "What is it?"

"We got a massive problem "Matt replied "You need to get here now "

"I'll be there " then I hung up I walked over to the nurse desk "How can I help?"She asked

"Can you ring her family?" I replied "I have to do something very important and if she wakes up tell her I'll be back "
She nodded "Yeah sure I will "

Then I left I got a taxi to the building and walked up the stairs it was eight thirty already. The office doors wouldn't open.

For fuck sake!!! I kicked the door in "Max "Matt said as he walked towards me "Have you forgotten your pass?"

I turned around "Yes I have!"

He nodded then swiped his pass and we walked in and walked into my office.

I stood up by the window as he stood a few metres away from me I poured bourbon in the whiskey glass and took a sip of it "What is it?"

"Donathan has evolved this plan in England to take over our company over there "Matt answered "And there is a massive chance he is in contact with Italy's prime Minster therefore our company in Italy and England might vanish away it'll be like the company never existed "

I looked at him "Anything else?"

"He is also attending this charity event in two weeks time "Matt said "We could do a plan to get rid of him "

"Just book four tickets for next month to Italy and England "I said with a sigh "We will come up with something by then "

"Why should I boo-"

I cut him off "Just do it "

He nodded and left then Linton walked in he looked at me as I finished the drink quick.

"Someone is drinking "He chuckled as he took a seat

"Shut up " I rolled my eyes at him "this is important "

"What is it?"

"Someone I know has been raped and left for dead around about in the afternoon round about two or three "I replied "Avenue road alleyway by the Chinese restaurant. "

"Name?"

"River Rose Allen"

His eyes lit up "Isn't that your assistant? Your father told me her name was river"

"Just do it "

He nodded "okay it'll be done in a few weeks "he got up and headed for the door

"Wait "I said he turned around "You got vacation next  month to London and Italy "

"It isn't a vacation if it is going with you "He chuckled the left.

I walked out of my office and locked it up I picked up River's bag and then locked up.

I walked out of the building and got in my car and drove to the hospital.

I parked the car and got out of the car I walked into the hospital and walked to her room.

The door was opened and I walked in only to see Alex there and River's mum.

Alex looked at me "H-Hi"She stuttered 

River's mum looked at me and gave me half a smile "Hi "

"I just came by to drop River's bag "I said then I dropped it by her bedside "Tell her I stopped by "

They nodded and I was just about to head out "Thank you though "River's mum said "Thank you "

I turned over my shoulder "You are welcome " then I left

I started to walk out of the building then someone screamed my name I turned around to see Alex stood there.

She was still the same she walked to me and looked at me "It is good seeing you "
I just looked at her and ready to turn around she grabbed my wrist "Does she know?"

I looked at her "No she doesn't "

Then I turned around and walked put of that hospital.
