I know many of you guys skipped the author's note. Please do glance at it once before you start with this chapter :)

Three years later after the prologue:

"It's high time you settle down with someone.", the feminine voice over the speaker, making him groan in annoyance. It wasn't the first time his mother asked him to get married and settle down. He shook his head slightly, visualizing his mother would be giving him a disapproving look. She had been nagging him to wed since his nephew was born.

"Mom, this same conversation again?" he asked, repressing his irritation from the tone.

Last week, they had this same conversation when they had an occasional family dinner. The previous year his elder brother and sister-in-law welcomed their second child. His mother now wants him to settle down like his elder brother and start a family. Talk about Indian family and their urges to get their children married as soon as they reach the age of twenty-five. He still remembered her aghast expression and the depiction of dissatisfaction on her face when he declared to wait for a few more years.

"You will be thirty in three years, Viransh!" she said from the other side of the call. He let out a sigh and leaned back in his seat as he halted his car at one of the traffic signals displaying a red light. He was already late for his meeting with Mr. Jaideep. Coincidently her mother called him when he was on his way to meeting the shareholders and executives at Desai Enterprises and started the same topic of conversation he was dreading, counting to his nasty mood.

"I already told you that I am not ready. Can you please drop this topic?" Viransh requested, almost beseeching.

"No, I won't. It's time for you to start a family of your own. Look at your brother. He got married to Rhea when he was twenty-three. Now, he has a beautiful family with her." she said as a matter-of-fact. "Also, remember your college friend, Abhinav? He got married a few days back. Even your younger brother is dating some girl. When are you-?"

"What do you expect me to do then? Encounter some random woman today and fall in love with her at first sight, then get married and have children? This isn't some Bollywood movie, mom. The real world doesn't work like that. Maybe, nowadays, it goes around like the Tinder app. Swipe left and right, and boom, you are matched." he said while swiftly driving ahead. "But I am not like that. This marriage and romance are not my things," he nearly growled while narrowing his eyes on the caller id, and his gaze lingered on the device, not realizing the car in front of him had halted.

"Well, son, there are plenty of women out there waiting to marry you-" she spoke only to be cut off by a crash sound. He jerked forward while his hands were tightly gripping the staring wheels.

"Damn it!" he cursed as he pressed brakes.

He heard a gasp from the speaker, followed by a series of questions with concern evident in her voice., "Viransh, what was that? Are you okay?"

"I am fine, mom. I will call you back later." Before his mother could reply, he ended the call.

Cursing something under his breath, he got out of the car. His initial anger ebbed, catching the sight of the woman getting out of her car. He noticed a pretty girl coming toward him. Suddenly, he couldn't look away from her. As she came closer, he got a better look at her, except that the girl with rich brown eyes and the downy onyx hair had him bewitched.

The girl stood cold, looking at him. The fury visibly clouded her senses, judging by her flushed expression and narrowed eyes. She looked at him with narrowed eyes as if ready to murder him with her bare hands.

Viransh had to remind himself that they were at the parking lot. Realization seemed to sink in on his mind as he realized that he was responsible for crashing his car with hers. He opened his mouth to apologize, but her loud soprano voice forced him to shut his mouth.

Taking a step towards her, he placed his hands in his slack's pocket and manifested an inimical look on his handsome face.

Avni was already running late for today's meeting. She groaned, realizing her usual spot got occupied by some other vehicle. With an important conference on the tow, there were several cars parked, causing it difficult to find another space for her car. Suddenly, she pressed the brakes and started looking for the right parking spot, but a car came crashing into hers, making her jerk forward. Luckily, she had her seatbelt tied around her petite body, saving her forehead from hitting the board in front of her.

Getting out of the car, she walked toward him, eventually trying not to deem intimated by his six feet tall frame. "God gave eyes for a reason, you idiot!" She hollered at the man in front of her without thinking twice.

Did she call me an idiot?

Viransh blinked his eyes twice at her. He stared at her, horrified. No one dares to call him that. Not even his brothers!

A logical part of him considered apologizing for his mistake, but anger spiked in his body for being called an idiot by a woman. That too, a stranger. He just glanced at the caller id for a moment. How come he missed out on a big white car in front of him? It wasn't possible until she stopped her car abruptly.

Taking a deep breath, Viransh roared in a deep voice, "Do you even know how to drive this thing? How did you manage to get a license?"

"And do you think Mumbai police will allow me to ride this vehicle without a license?!" she spoke as a matter of fact while crossing her arms and pursuing her lips. She couldn't take her eyes off him.

His looks were something that could cause people to stop in their tracks, compelling them to look at him again and savor his handsomeness. He had thick, jet-black hair curled around his ears and the nape of his neck. His prominent features included a flawlessly straight and narrow nose. A chiseled jawline made him look more appealing while his pair of amber eyes flickered towards her in an inquest demeanor.

He was a charming man. Those catastrophic amber eyes with the dark coloring of the hair were alluring and seductive. He had a muscular toned body, and his stance screamed power and authority. He looked stunning in black slacks and a perfectly tailored white button-up shirt, with a navy blue tie faultlessly knotted around his collar.

Avni never knew she would come across as such a handsome man, and here she was openly gawking at him. Men like him only appeared in her will-o'-the-wisp. Nothing prepared her for this moment like she was half-dreaming and half-dreading.

Viransh observed her dark-bright fire-lit eyes held a glint of admiration. He was trying hard to hold back his smirk. His eyes trailed down, noting her flushed cheeks and her salacious cherry lips. Those lips looked like a red plum, ready to savor. Feverish. She had a long pointed nose. Few strands of her hair brushed on her flawless delicate olive cheeks, making his hands itch to pleat them behind her ears.

She wore a white button-up shirt and paired it with ginger-bread brown front crease pants. The velvet raven block heels added four-to-five inches to her height. She didn't have heavy makeup on her face making her look simple but elegant. She held her head high trying not to feel intimidated by him.

Trouble never looked so god damn beautiful.

Breaking out of his staring trance, he composed himself and asked her, "Why the hell did you stop abruptly?"

"Oh, shut up. You don't have any right to blame me for your blunders. I came here before you, and you would've seen me parking here. But, looks like your driving speed didn't let you put your foot on your brakes." she said in one breath while his light orbs bore into her darker ones.

Tearing her gaze away from his handsome face, she looked at her car. It also had scratches on the rear bumper, and the tail lights were damaged. She went near the car and started tracing her fingers at the scratches with a teary look on her face.

Suddenly, a tall figure towered behind her. She turned back and saw the same Viransh peering back at her with a thoughtful look. Avni stood upright and looked into his alluring eyes.

He snorted, curling his face in annoyance, "Even my car has some damage. Look what you did," he said with a voice filled with arrogance and disdain.

"What do you mean by that? It was certainly your fault. I should be the one complaining about the car's damages," she voiced out.

A frown appeared between his brows, "Really? Does it looks like I will apologize to you for crashing when it's your fault?" he scoffed.

She dared him, facing him head-on, "You will apologize for your behavior."

He raked his hands over his hair, messing it up. His hair looked so smooth that Avni's hands were itching to touch them. Those hairs were so black, darker than her. It was making her envious promptly.

He let out a loud sigh, "I won't!"

"Look, here, I don't know if you are suffering from short-term memory loss or not because I can guess that you forgot that it was you who caused this crash. You were driving behind me. You should've been more careful." She raised her angst voice.

"Are you sure it was my fault? Who told you to stop swiftly? Look at my car, which has more damage than yours." he muttered with a snort.

Calmly, she stated, "I think you are making it a big deal by -" he cut her off in the middle.

He asked her in a tone brittle with annoyance, "Do you even know who I am?"

Avni rolled her eyes as soon as those words left his mouth. After all, the male ego was a horrible thing.

Why didn't God create a man with good looks and a good brain?

Shaking her head, she said, "It doesn't matter what your name is! Why don't you accept your fault, apologize and end this dispute here?"

"What if I don't?"

From the corner of her eye, she saw people gathering to look at their banter. Glancing at her watch, she stifled a groan, realizing they were wasting each other's time on this issue.

Avni and Viransh looked at each other. Their eyes held unspoken challenges. "So you won't apologize, huh?" the woman asked him while gritting her teeth. In response, the man just shook his head in no. "Don't tell you were daydreaming or using your phone while driving the car?"

Viransh's face visibly paled, which didn't go unnoticed by Avni. He parted his mouth to say, but no words came out.

Avni raised her eyebrows while a smirk plastered on her lips. A vague idea of him using his phone while driving crossed her mind. An old trick in the book does work. She didn't know that her guess would come out to be correct. Walking closer to him, she rebuked, "I see, Mr-do-you-know-who-I-am drives the car while talking on his phone. Do you even know how dangerous it is?!"
