"Mr Hayfield? The new candidate is here" the beautiful brown haired woman said, as I watched her poke her head through the heavy black double doors.

I didn't hear his reply. The woman closed the door and turned to look at me. "Mr Hayfield is ready for you" she said, plastering a fake smile across her face.

I stood up,  smoothing my black pencil skirt. "Thank you" I said as I trotted over to the door.

I took a deep breath, reminding myself that I was on my own and I needed this job. I turned the square handle and pushed the door, it swung with ease and I stepped forward.

Mr Hayfield looked up from his desk, slowly sliding a piece of paper into his hand. "Miss Jackson, correct?" He asked.

I opened my mouth but all that came out was some strangled noise. I couldn't piece any words together. Mr Hayfield oozed drunk nights lying next to women with a bottle of bourbon in his hand. "Correct?" He asked again, looking at me with raised eyebrows.

Get it together, woman!

I cleared my throat. "Yes, that is I" I replied.

What are you? From the 17th century?

"Please take a seat" he said, gesturing to the seat in front of his desk.

I nodded and quickly moved to the seat, wanting to make a good impression and also so he couldn't see my shaking legs.
"Have you worked as a Assistant before?" He asked, glancing at the paper in his hand.

No ring. Not married.

"No sir, this will be a first, but I have a graduates degree in Administration" I replied, smiling slightly.

Hayfield glanced at me. "Here at this company, having a degree doesn't matter, what matters is if you can get the job done and on time" he replied, dropping the paper back on his desk.

God, his jaw could cut my finger.

"Of course sir, I myself hate tardiness on anything" I replied, immediately frowning at myself.

I saw a slight hint of amusement play across his face.
"Another thing I hate, is when people lie to me, tell Miss Jackson, would you lie to me?" He asked, cocking his head.

Please! Why are you so hot!

"Depends sir, what's the situation?" I replied.

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. He stood up, making my mouth drop as he turned to face the window.
I took the time to roll my tongue back in and force my jaw closed.

A black dress shirt and silver waistcoat sat on what I could only assume to be a very fit body, displaying the hard muscles under the tight fit.
"You're hired" he said before turning to look at me.

I had been too busy shaking the dirty thoughts from my mind until his words actually registered. "Wait? For real?" I asked, excitedly.

Mr Hayfield kept his amusement under control. "Work begins tomorrow and you will sign the rest of the forms in that time, work begins at seven a.m and I expect you to not be tardy" he said, his brown eyes searing into mine.

I nodded and stood up. "Of course sir!" I exclaimed.

I held my hand out and Mr Hayfield shook it. Warmth crept up my arm and I pulled away a little too quickly. "First thing tomorrow" I said, mostly to myself.

I practically skipped from the room. The blonde woman at the desk gave me another fake smile. "Congratulations" she said.

"Thanks" I replied.

I walked past her and into the elevator. The doors closed with a ding and I squealed. "I got the job!"
