"Why are you doing this?" I suddenly asked.

Stretching out his hand he pulled me down next to him before waiting a beat to reply, "Everyone deserves a chance Evelyn.''

"Not all the time" I replied back after some time had passed, "But if it's worth it then why not?"

His piercing gaze never left me. Moments like these I felt as though he could have peered into my very soul. It was as if he saw more than me.

"And what about me Evelyn?" He questioned in that same calm deep sensual voice, "Am I worth it?''

Was he worth it?

A gasp got stuck in my throat. Never in my life have I seen Lucas look so vulnerable. His face seemed passive but his eyes, beneath that dark smoldering look was filled with some type of emotion I could not have identified. My heart beat a rapid tattoo against my chest as we continued staring at each other and I got my answer right there.
