Because nothing makes me happier and nothing makes me sadder than you- unknown.

Athena's POV.

Just then Henri pulled up alongside the curb as we stepped into the vehicle.

"I'm going to tie this over your eyes okay?" He stated as he slipped the material over my eyes and knotting it to the back.

"Where are you taking me?" I questioned as my curiosity spiked.

"Just relax." He murmured sounding much closer than I expected him to be as he abruptly took my hand and started rubbing soothing circles with his thumb in an effort to calm me. The comforting motion did not go unnoticed by my traitorous body as my inner heat and womanly hormones rose to its peak. I could have blamed my racy thoughts on the kinky romance books I read but I knew the subject of the matter was sitting right next to me in total oblivion to my turmoil.

"Come." He whispered in my ear as the tie was removed from over my eyes.

"Pardon...?" I breathed out as heat scorched my face wondering if he read my thoughts.

"We have arrived." He explained motioning to the busy street.

Only then had I realized we were at an immobile pace as I quickly scrambled out the vehicle.

"Where is this?" I asked as he interlaced his hands with mine leisurely strolling behind the pedestrians.

"This is the world famous book market." He responded as I halted and looked up at him overwhelmed by emotion from the gesture, "You'll find any and every book here I believe."

"Come on..." He said gifting me with an adorable smile that was equivalent to a hug on my overzealous heart.

Tables upon tables were laden and all stacked with books of all genres filled with a history of their own. Excitement burst through me as I basked in the atmosphere.

"This is amazing!" I exclaimed overjoyed as I browsed through the huge pile of books in utter awe, "Do you come here often?"

"No." He coughed out failing to hide his sheepish smile.

Just the sight of him left me winded.

It was quite obvious he was away from his usual comfort zone. No one else was dressed as immaculately as he was or had carried that air of suave sophistication. How can someone look so out of place yet so right at the same time?

Dressed in a deep cobalt blue suit and a powder white shirt he looked every inch the businessman as he should have been a model. Standing tall in his brown leather shoes he was a sight to look at and I had soon realized, with a touch of envy that I was not the only one staring. It was a comfort to know that it was not I alone affected by his sheer beauty.

"A mutual mate of mine rants about this place all the time." He went on saying as I latched onto his lasting words pushing down the green monster of envy, "I figured you would have enjoyed it instead of being imprisoned as you so see it for once."

The current book that I held reading fell through my hands as I looked up into his mesmerizing eyes. He looked...hurt.

Gathering my inner courage I stepped forward and grasped his hands in mine, "I don't think I'm being held against my will." I stated with brutal honesty, "I should have never phrased it like that to you and for that I am sorry."

Pulling his grasp out of my hold, his course knuckles came to rub against my tender cheek as he held an earnest look in his pool blue eyes, "There are so many things that I should not have said to you and I..."

Just then his cellphone rang as his soft gaze turned into a look of annoyance that made me giggle. Unexpectedly his mouth came down placing a gentle kiss to my lips, "One minute..."

Nodding I smiled up at him as he answered the call...rather harshly I must say as I winced sympathizing for the person on the other line as I collected the rest of the books.

"...is that all?" He snapped as those raspberry lips formed a thin line of irritation, "Did I not specifically say to not call me unless there was an absolute emergency."

...

"Deal with it." Was his lasting line as he hung up.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

Slipping the cellphone back into the pockets of his trousers he took the few books from my hands as he grasped the other, "You never happened to read any Human Resource books now have you?"

"I can't say the urge has ever come across." I replied to his attempt at a joke, "Are you thinking of downsizing?"

"Rehiring." He commented dryly.

"Hmm I don't think you have a problem in that department." I offered up.

"You do not?" He questioned.

"I think you would never settle for anything less than the best...not even by a miniscule margin so your staff has to have the highest level of competence and efficiency. They are just very dependent on your final decision because you are a hands-on boss."

"I must say that might be a very accurate insight." He said smirking down at me.

After paying for the books, which Nico insisted upon, we made our way to leave just as a whirled of fun zesty colors came bounding our way. Immediately letting go of my hands, a breathtaking smile transformed Nico's beautiful features as the honeycombed blond became enveloped into the warmth of his arms. Placing a delicate kiss onto both of her creamy smooth cheeks, her bright blue eyes shone with laughter. She was stunning like a fairy. She reminded me of Tinkerbelle herself with her slim body and busy movements. Dressed in a pair of white shorts and knee high black suede boots, her trendy loose fitting top complimented her look causing me to wonder why she wasn't gracing the cover of any fashion magazines. As I took in the pair animatedly chatting easily with the other a deep sliver of anguish tore through my heart. It only bought to pass the reality of such a situation that we were stuck in. And it was then I realized that other than longing I felt for my father, for the first time I felt pure anger.

How could he have done this to me?

Did he not consider how I would feel?

Their twin burst of laughter bought me back to the here and now. She was as equally gorgeous as him. A perfect pair that complimented the other. Guilt settled within me as the deep sense of outrage wreaked havoc to my insides.

What if he was in love with her but they could not have a future together because of me?

Question after question tormented my mind, I felt like sobbing.

"...pardon my rudeness, let me introduce you to my fiancée, Athena." I heard him say at the back of my mind as his arms gripped my waist.

Only this time, his touch felt unwelcomed.
