Paige McGuire wasn't raised in a family where living was a luxury. She was brought up watching her parents struggle from pay cheque to pay cheque. She lived on the wrong side of the tracks in a trailer. She thought she had it all when Damien Josef showed interest in her. Damien was the complete opposite, he got everything handed to him on a silver plater.

Here's an excerpt:

I walk toward the school building on our Graduation Day. My boyfriend Damien is standing around with a group of guys from the football team.

I move toward him when I see a blonde hair, blue eyed, girl wrap herself in his arms.

She points to me. "There's the trailer trash Paige McGuire." She turns in Damien's arms. "Please, tell me you broke up with that trash?"

Damien shakes his head. "Nah, I couldn't break up with her on my own. I needed to have an audience when I broke up with her."

Arsehole.

He smirks. "Baby, you're not going to amount to anything. You're trailer trash, dirt poor and you have nothing going for you. You didn't even get into University. How can I continue to be with a person too lazy to do a thing? Have fun on welfare.' Oh, and don't come to the party at my place."

I don't want to go to the party anyway.

He walks away, laughing with his friends.

I run straight to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. I have tears running down my face.

I sigh. "Paige McGuire, you're a beautiful woman and you won't let any guy hurt you like that again. You aren't nothing. You will go to University once you decide what you want to major in. Then you will prove to the world you are more than the trailer trash people think you are."

I throw water on my face. I pull some paper towels from the dispenser. I dry my face.

I exit the bathroom and move toward the hall.

I find my seat and I'm surrounded by the jocks and their girlfriends.

Damien looks at me. His eyes narrows and his nose scrunches up when he looks at me.

I don't know why he all of a sudden hates me. Everything was going perfect last night.
