I enter the airport and head straight for the check-in counter. I tell them that a ticket was paid for me and that I had to collect it from the counter.

The woman behind the desk types my information into the computer. "I have to print out the ticket for you. Then I'll be able to check you in, madam."

I smile. "Thanks,"

She moves towards the printer and she pulls out the ticket. She places on the counter. "Can you place your bags on the conveyer belt?"

I look at the carry-on bag in my hand. "I don't have anything to check-in. I have everything I need in my hand luggage."

I take my ticket from the counter and make my way over to terminal. On the way there I see Landon with a group of men.

Landon walks over to me. He takes my hand. "You can't check-out any leads without me being there with you. I want to be with you every step of the way, during this journey."

I hug him. "She's going to be a lucky girl to have you as her father."

He laughs. "No, I'm going to be the lucky one. I'm going to have two girls that are all mine. I'm going to protect and love you both like no-one else can." Landon points to the group of men around us. "Mikayla, I want you to meet Sven, Mike, John and Malik. They are your bodyguards while you look for our daughter."

I shake their hands. I turn to Landon. "Who hired these guys?"

Landon looks at Sven and the guy nods. "They were hired by the President and the First Lady."

Sven moves behind me. "President Bennett said you can look after yourself. He also, told me that he couldn't risk losing you. You have an important role with the Bennett family as being a Godmother to the first child of The President's Son."

The flight attendant calls my flight number and I board the plane. Landon and I move toward our seat. He puts my bags in the overhead compartment.

I look outside and see the bags get loaded onto the plane next to ours. I turn to the front when the Pilot announcers that the Flight Attendants will be going through the in flight safety procedures and where the life jackets are and how to put it on.

After the safety video the flight attendant walk down the aisles and checking that every passenger has their seatbelts on.

I clip my seatbelt into place and hold Landon's hand. I place my head on his shoulders and close my eyes.

***

Landon shakes my shoulder. "Hey, baby. We're about to land in Miami." I pull the shutter up and look out the window.

I see the beach and Palm trees. I see a group of kids standing next to some cars. People are skating and riding their bikes along the beach.

I wish I was here for a vacation instead of a lead to my missing daughter.

The plane descendants and it touches down. The breaks are applied and I am thrown forward in my seat. The plane creeps along the runway and it stops at the terminal.

Landon takes his belt off. He rises and pulls our things out of the overhead compartment. People start to exit the plane.

Landon holds my hand as we make our way slowly out of the plane.

I need to go to the bathroom.

When we exit the plane I turn to the guys. "I'm going to the bathroom. Then I'll give Callie a call and find out where I have to go."

We walk down the long corridor of the airport. I find a bathroom and I enter.

As I exit the bathroom I see a girl hug Landon. He points at me. "Mikayla, I want you to meet my second cousin Tamara."

I didn't know he had another cousin besides the one that killed Grandmother and Grandfather.

Tamara smiles.

I whisper. "Is she the daughter of the guy that killed Grandmother?"

Landon shakes his head. "I have an older cousin that was a result of an affair my Uncle had. I kept in touch with her until she moved to Spain."

I shake her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Tamara." I turn to him. "Did Grandmother know about the affair?"

Landon shakes his head. "My Uncle kept that under wraps. I found out one night when I spent the night at my Uncles. The woman showed up at his place with a little and all his dirty laundry was aired. They didn't see me though. But, the little girl did." He looks at the ground.
"I tracked the woman down the next day and she told me everything. She introduced me to my cousin. She would come to town every school holidays and I spent time with them. The holidays were my favourite."

I wrap my arms around him.

Tamara has tear falling from her eyes. She wipes her face. "I'm sorry."

I shake my head. "You don't need to apologise. Your mother seem like an incredible woman."

She looks at the ground. "Mum was an incredible woman. I wish she was still with us."

Landon's face pales. "What?"

Tamara looks at him. "Mum, died last week. Today is the first time I've been in America since I was a baby."

I look closely at her and I realise she's a kid. She can't be any older than fifteen.

Landon looks at her. "I'm not having you live on your own, Tamara. "You're coming home with me. I'm going to introduce you to your Great Aunt and Uncle." He looks at her. "Get our bags. I'll leave a bodyguard with you while Mikayla and I run a few errands. You can explore the town if you want."

Tamara looks outside. "I want to go to the beach."

One of the Bodyguards steps forward I'll take her to the beach. "Call me when you have finished here. I want to know if we have to use the President's getaway place here in Miami and if we do I'll have to call the maid to open the door for us."

I nod. "We will. Thanks,"

The bodyguard and Tamara exit the airport.

Landon carries our bags and we exit the airport. A black limo is waiting for us.

I forgot to call Callie.

I look at Landon. "We can't go anywhere until I call Callie. She knows where I need to go." I pull the phone out of my handbag.

Callie answers on the third ring.

Callie: This is Callie.

Me: Hey, it's Mikayla. I just landed in Miami. Do you have the address for me?

Callie: Yeah, it's 1223 Miami Ave. It's in the suburbs.

I chuckle. There's nothing wrong in the suburbs. I was brought up in a trailer.

Callie: You were stolen. That doesn't count.

I roll my eyes. I'll be in tomorrow sometime. I don't think I'll be here long enough.

Callie: I'll let Aurora know to meet you downstairs tomorrow. It will be good to have you in the office, again. Everyone's missed you being around. Quick question before you go. How was dinner with the president?

Me: It was great. I have to go Callie. Thanks for the address.

I put my phone in my pocket and I look at the driver. "We're going to 1223 Miami Ave."

The driver pulls a funny face. "I thought I would be taking you to a glamourous place that the suburbs.

I look at him. "Do you want the money for driving us around? If you don't I have no problem getting out of this car and looking for someone else to take us. They could use the extra cash to buy their kids something."

The driver climbs into the limo and the guards sit in the back with us. He pulls onto the road and takes us to the house.

I pull my phone out of my pocket and I text the Sasha.

Me: Thank The President and First Lady for getting bodyguards for me. Even, though everyone knows that I don't need them.

Sasha: Lol, I asked them the send more people with you. I don't like the idea of you being injured while you're in Miami on a lead to your daughter.

Me: Thanks, sis. I have to go.

I put my phone away and step out of the car.

An over grown hedge separates the neighbour's house from this one. The grass is long and it looks like no one has lived in here in some time.

I walk up the footpath and push the door open. Landon is next to me in an instance and we enter the place.

There's no furniture in the room.

I see a few photo's left on the table. I pick them up and go through them.

These people look my old family. But, it's not them.

I slide down the wall. I shake my head. "It's another dead end, Landon, I don't know why I keep putting myself through all this, Landon. Maybe, I should give up on finding my daughter."

Landon pulls me into his arms. "I don't want you to give up on looking for her. You need to continue this."

I shake my head. "I keep getting my hopes up and then I crumble when nothing turns out." I look at Landon. "I want to go to the bar."

He shakes his head. "I'm not going to take you to a bar. Let's go home."

I take his hand. "Alright," I look outside. "Can you take me somewhere to be closer to Grandmother?"

Landon smiles. "I'll take you to the beach house. It was one of my favourite places to visit."

We exit the house and head for the limo. The driver opens the door. He looks at me. "Where to madam?"

"To the airport. We're going home."

The driver shuts the door and drives us to the airport.

***

The limo pulls in front of the airport. Tamara is waiting there with the bodyguard. We enter the airport and wait for the plane to take us to Los Angeles.

Landon pulls out a newspaper and he flips through the pages.

I look over at Tamara. "Do you want to look at the shops?"

She nods. "Yeah, it beats having problems connecting with the airport Wi-Fi. Everyone is on it."

Tamara and I walk around the shops. I pick up a bag of chips, soft drink and water. I stuff them in my handbag.

I hear the flight attendant call us. "It's time for us go home."

She smiles. "That has a nice ring to do. Do you mind me staying with Landon and you?"

I put my arms around her shoulder. "I don't mind at all Tamara. You'll be around family soon and you'll meet your Great Aunt and Uncle. They are great people."

Tamara looks at the ground. "Can you tell me at my Great Grandmother? From what I've heard you were close to her."

I nod. "I was close to her. She helped me out when I needed it the most. Grandmother was a constant in my life after my nineteenth birthday. I nearly got to have her in my life for ten years."

I tell her a few stories of Grandmother and I.

A throat clears from behind me and I turn. I cross my arms. "Can I help you?"

He nods. "Yeah, you pushed in front of me."

Landon is standing at the side for Tamara and I.

I step into his personnel space. "So, what are you going to do about it?"

Landon gives the attendant my ticket and we walk towards the plane.

***

At 10.30pm, the car pulls into the driveway of the beach house. I step out of the car and make my way to the house.

Landon opens the door and I enter the place.

I turn to him. "Do you know which room was Grandmother's?"

Landon takes my hand and shows me to the room.

I sit on the bed and I pull open the draw next to her bed. I see a fancy letter in the draw. I pull out and read it.

Dear Family,
If any of you find this letter I want you to know I had another Grandchild. She was the result of an affair that my son had.
If I die before my time I want her to have 3.5 billion dollars and this beach house. If my Granddaughter died all this will be left to her daughter if she had one.
Also, I want to leave 5% of the company to the child. Take this letter with you to the Lawyers and get everything sorted for her.
If the child is under eighteen I need someone to be The Guardian of said child. I nominate Landon and Mikayla to take care of her.
On the child's eighteenth birthday $250,000 will be placed into her bank account. Please, encourage my Great Granddaughter to go to University and get a degree in business.

Love Grandmother.

It must have been hard for to keep a secret like this,

"Landon,"

He turns to me. "What?"

I show him the piece of paper. "She knew about Tamara. But, she didn't know the name of the child. You and I need to take care of Tamara until she goes to University."

Landon smiles. "This will be good for us. We're going to be pro's by the time our daughter becomes a teenager."

I climb into the bed. "Goodnight, Landon. Make sure Tamara is comfy before you come to bed."

Landon rises and moves towards the door. "Goodnight, baby."
