One week later...

Today was my graduation day, and my first time being away from school since I was five. After today I would be able to save children with my psychology degree as a social worker. Checking the time and seeing I had slept till eleven-thirty A.M. I threw myself out of bed. I walked over to my overstuffed closet and looked at the very back for the dresses I never wore. There was no reason for me to wear a dress because I never went out. I only went to the Sinful Soul's, which wasn't the type of place to wear one. Ever since my one night stand with the Johnny, Lily and I hadn't been back.

I found the dress that I was going to wear after looking between my old prom gown and high school graduation one. It was black with a retro feel to it. It was an a-line skirt with a halter top bust. It screamed 'Marilyn Monroe'. I never wore much color, black was the only thing that fit my wardrobe. Soon however, I would have to trade all my college clothes for more professional ones. Now I would have to wear pantsuits, skirts, and blazers. I had to add more colors and heels to my life as well, which was going to be very interesting.

After I got into my dress I scoured through the mess of my shoes to find the only pair of heels I owned. They were black t-strap heels, and lucky for me, they weren't that high. Walking into the bathroom, I put on my foundation, eyeliner, and mascara. The only thing I couldn't do on my own was my hair, so I decided to ask Lily for help with it.

"Lily I need your help please!" I said banging on her door.

"What's up?" she asked opening her door for me. I could tell she was already ready. It didn't take her long to get ready for things, she was simplistic. She had foundation on, eye-shadow, and mascara. Her hair was styled in pin curls and she was wearing a 20's style flapper dress that was a royal blue. She had nude heels, and Cuban heel tights.

"Please help me with my hair, I can't do it myself," I pouted hoping it would be enough to get her to help me. Of course it worked cause she smiled at me and grabbed my hand pulling me back into my bathroom. I sat down on a stool that I kept in in the corner of the room so she could do my hair.

She went under my sink to grab my curling iron, and when she turned it on, you could smell the dust as it heated up. While it took its time warming, she sectioned my hair with a fine tooth comb.

"Ok girlie, how do you want your hair?" Lily asked getting straight to it.

"I was thinking just soft curls and victory rolls," I shrugged.

"You got it girl," she said and started curling.

After about twenty-five minutes my hair was finally done and looked fantastic. Lily was good at doing hair. She went out to our living room and grabbed our cap and gowns from where they were hanging and walked back into my room to give me mine. We put them on and helped each other with our caps. I grabbed my phone from my nightstand and checked the time, it was four-thirty P.M. All in all it took us five hours to get ready.

"You ready to graduate sunshine?" I beamed.

"More than ready," she smile back at me.

I grabbed my keys off the small kitchen bar and walked downstairs to my car. The ceremony didn't start until six-thirty P.M. but we had to be there a little early to get into our spots. My last name was Wyatt so I was stuck in the back. Lily's last name was Anktrivak. So she was up in the front. The college of psychology was going to be graduating in the schools auditorium for the evening.

We arrived at the University at four forty-five and parked in our usual spot in the parking garage. We walked to the auditorium and went inside. I knew my parents and Lily's were supposed to be here, and Lily's brother Stephen. He was the oldest, he was 29, and a pediatrician. He looked just like Lily but he was tall, and he had blue-green eyes.

I was an only child so the only ones that would be here tonight would just be mom and dad. My aunt Vicky, uncle Glenn, and my cousins Matthew, and Phoebe couldn't make it because they lived too far away.

Once I was in my seat, I waited for the ceremony to begin. It was going to be a long night considering how many people were going to be graduating tonight, luckily it wasn't the whole school graduating. One by one they called everyone's name and one by one they went up to collect their degrees. When Lily went up and grabbed hers. I could hear her family and mine yell for her. I screamed and applauded for her as well. She blushed at that and rushed off the stage.

Finally after what felt like an eternity, they called my name. I walked up shook the Dean of the school, Dean of psychology, and a few others' hands and got off the stage while my parents and Lily's cheered for me. As soon as everything was done, everyone moved their tassels and threw their hats in the air except for Lily and I, ours were anchored onto our heads with Bobby pins. Everyone dispersed themselves and ran to their respective families. I followed in suit, and looked for my own.

Once I found my mom and dad and gave them big hugs and we found Lily and her family we decided to go out to eat.

"Well now that you girls are all graduated and such, what are your next plans? When does your internship start sweetheart?" My mother asks as the waiter brings our food to our table.

"Well I'll be starting in a few weeks. I just need to go downtown to set up for it," I say.

"I've already put in some applications for some elementary schools for guidance counselor, Mrs. Wyatt," Lily said.

"That's really exciting news girls. I'm really very proud of where you've gotten so far. You have accomplished so much for yourselves," Lily's father Charles says.

"I would have to agree with you, Charles. They really have gotten far and done amazing. I think they're going to enjoy what we have made for them," my father says.

"We'll talk more about that later," Charles says them pats my dad on the shoulder.

After we finished our dinners, our parents left to go back home, and Lily and I went back to our apartment for some much needed sleep.

Three weeks later...

Waking up with a sharp odd churning in my lower abdomen; I found myself running to the bathroom to release the contents of last night's food in the toilet. After dry heaving a few times, I slowly mustered all my energy and lifted myself up from a kneeling position.

What the hell was that?

I never felt sick to my stomach, or got sick like this. So what was this? I was pretty sure the food I had eaten last night wasn't spoiled. So why was I getting sick? My stomach was a little better once there was nothing left in it, but it still felt off.

Maybe if I ate some crackers and drank Sprite it would settle some.

I walked out of my bathroom and headed to my bedroom door so I could hit the kitchen. When I got to the there, Lily was sitting at the table eating scrambled eggs. The smell was making my stomach churn and twist.

What was wrong with me today?

"What's wrong girlie, you look like shit, no offense," she said with worry written on her face.

Scrunching my nose and walking to the fridge, I grabbed the Sprite and went to the cupboard for a glass to pour it in. Once I poured the soda in the glass, I grabbed the crackers from off the top of the fridge and walked to the table and sat down.

Turning to Lily I said, "I don't know I just woke up and vomited my guts out."

"You poor thing, do you want me to go get you some soup from the store?" She asked.

"Yeah that would be great," I said munching on a cracker.

"Yeah plus I have to go get some tampons, you know that time of the month again," she frowned. I started to choke on the sprite I was drinking. I looked at her in shock.

"What's going on with you today Avery?" Lily asked.

"Lily I'm late," I whispered.

"For work you don't work today honey," she laughed.

"No Lily I mean I'm fucking late. I haven't started my period yet!" I yelled a little too harshly. "I'm sorry Lily I'm just freaking out, I'm sorry." Thankfully I didn't have to work today, I worked at a little diner as a hostess. I needed something to pay my half of the bills. Lily worked as a server at the diner with me.

"Ok Avery, don't panic I'll go buy some tests for you. I'll leave right now ok," she muttered getting out of her seat and grabbing her keys from the counter and leaving me to my own thoughts.

Oh God! What was I going to do now?

If I'm pregnant there goes my career. If Johnny knocked me up, I wouldn't even know how to reach him. I didn't know what to do I couldn't get an abortion because that cost money, money that I didn't have. I don't think I would have been able to even if I did have the cash. There's always adoption. I didn't have the funds to raise a child either, not to mention the dad probably wouldn't help me out. I just didn't know what to do. Hopefully I wasn't pregnant, hopefully.

About a half an hour later Lily showed up and tossed a box at me. I walked through my room, to my bathroom. I did like the directions said and peed on the stick then, set a timer on my phone. I waited five minutes. All the while pacing back and forth thinking about what to do if the test came out positive. Suddenly there was a light knock on my bathroom door.

"What does it say? I bought more than just the one box just in case," Lily said. Just then the timer went off and I walked to the test. Sure enough my biggest fears came to life, crippling me.

"Lily, I- I'm pregnant," I whispered sinking to the ground and cried. Lily opened the bathroom door when she heard my sob's and held me as I cried in her arms.

This was all my fault...
