Baleigh's POV

We ran down the hallway, passing door after door. We found no way out. I kept looking behind my shoulder to see if the red-haired boy was still following us. He had disappeared from view but I could tell he wasn't far behind.

"We need to find a way out of here!" I called to Collin.

"But where?" he said. "This house is like a maze. We'll probably die before we get out of here."

I didn't like the idea of dying. I may have been depressed in the past, but dying was not something I think about regularly.

Nate suddenly stopped. He had been in his wolf form after he saw the boy holding the knife to my neck. Nate looked exactly like one of the wolves from the Twilight Saga movies. He was big and muscular with fluffy black fur. He looked more adorable than scary. However, I knew that when he's angry, you would want to run away.

Nate sniffed the air. He looked around. He turned to the right and started bounding down the hall. Collin, Kato, and I weren't far behind. We didn't ask where he was going. I had a feeling that he knew where to go.

We ended up by a grand staircase. The staircase looked more modern and nicer than anything else in the house. I assumed that because of how old the house was, the staircase needed major work on it.

Nate stopped and looked around. Collin and I leaned against one of the rails on the stairs to catch are breath. I looked around the room. I didn't see any grand door anywhere. Usually houses like this would have two giant french doors as clear as day.

I tried to remember what the front of the house looked like. It was dark when Nate had pulled up to the house. The only light that we had were from the headlights of the car and the bright light of the moon. I closed my eyes and tried to trace my mind back to that time. I felt like Shawn Spencer from Psych when her remembered an important detail to a case.

I remembered pulling up to house. It was dark. There were big trees covering most of the front. Something then hit me about the front of the house. The front porch was very small for a big house. I remembered that the front door to the house was a small wooden door. My eyes flashed open. I let out a gasp.

"What is it, sweetheart?" Collin asked. Sweetheart? When did that happen?

"I know how to get out of here!" I leaned away from the stair post and started opening all the wooden doors in the area. "Quick!" I called. "Check every wooden door you can find! One of them is bound to be the front door."

Collin nodded and ran the opposite direction. Nate sniffed all the doors since he couldn't open any without shifting back to human.

We spent about 5 minutes searching for our way out when Collin yelled from down the hall.

"I found it!" He shouted.

"Yes!" I quickly followed his voice with Nate in tow. We almost reached the door where Collin was standing outside when I heard a loud bang.

I turned my head to the right where Nate was and saw blood coming from his right front leg. Nate collapsed to the ground.

"No!" I shouted. I ran up to him and fell to the ground.

"Come on, Nate! We're so close! Get your furry butt up!"

I began to pull Nate up when I heard another bang. I ducked low, just barely missing the metal bullet that flew above my head.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." I looked up to see the red-haired boy standing there, holding a shotgun. Behind him were two people that I wish weren't here.

"Please Baleigh," Keira said. "Just do as he said." A black hand gun was held up against her temples. Trinity was the one holding the gun.

"We can do this the easy way, or the hard way." The red-haired boy gave me an evil smile.

I turned to head to see if Collin was outside. I didn't see him anywhere. Did he run when he heard the gunshot?

I turned my head back. I felt tears in my eyes. I tried to hold them back. I needed to be strong.

"Now, get up." The boy gestured for me to sit up with the gun. I slowly stood up, putting my hands up.

"Good," he said. Nate whimpered. I wanted to drop back down and try and help him but I knew that was a death sentence.

"You are coming with me," the boy said. He stepped over Nate and grabbed my arm. I wanted to fight, but I felt limp as he pulled he towards him.

Suddenly, a golden wolf came out from behind Keira and Trinity. Both girls screamed. The wolf pushed Trinity down, knocking the gun away from her. The boy turned around.

"Baby! No!" He started firing at the wolf. I started to gain to strength. I grabbed the boy by the shoulders and turned him around. He looked at he strangely before my fist was in his face.

He stumbled backwards. I swung my leg around and knocked him on the floor. He laid there, unconscious. I smiled. It felt good to punch his stupid face.

I looked up and saw Keira looking at me in shock. The golden-colored wolf was still over Trinity. She laid there, limp.

"Did you just kill her?" I asked the wolf. The wolf shook its head.

"Collin knocked her out when he pushed her," Keira said.

"Wait. Collin?" I looked back at the wolf. He nodded.

"Well, thanks. I thought you left us." Collin shook his head. I smiled.

"Um, should we help Nate?" Keira asked."

"Oh! Yeah, Probably should." I crouched down and tried to pick him up. Nate wouldn't budge.

"Little help here, Keira."

Keira came over and grabbed Nate by his rear. Together, we picked him up. It felt like carrying a giant furry weight.

We slowly carried him outside before we dropped him on the grass. Nate was too heavy for us to carry.

"We need to call Dr. Stone. We can't carry him by ourselves," I said.

Keira nodded. "I agree." She pulled her phone out of her back pocket and dialed.

Collin walked up to me and bumped my elbow.

"Hey!" I rubbed his furry head. "Thanks for saving me back there." Collin rubbed his head on my arm. I think that was his wolf way of saying 'you're welcome'.

As I was busy petting my mate, I suddenly forgot someone. "Kato!"

Running down the steps of the front porch was the little munchkin cat. Kato ran up to me. I held out my arms and engulfed the cat in a big hug.

"Oh Kato! I thought I lost you!" I squeezed the cat. I could tell he missed me.

Keira turned around. He hung up and placed her phone back in her pocket. "They said they would be here soon," she said.

Bright lights shined behind us. The three of us turned around. In the black Toyota SUV pulled up. The headlights turned off and out came Dr. Stone, Evelyn, and my dad.

"You all have a lot of explaining to do," Dr. Stone said.

Yay! Crazy chapter, huh? I felt like ending it after Jacob fired the gun but I couldn't find any way to end it. I felt it was best to keep going. Kind of makes up for the short chapter previously. Anyway, hope you all like it! Leave some comments too!
