The Bad Girl Sleeps In My Bed ❁ Chapter Fifteen

Some of the greatest survivors have been women. Look at the courage so many women have shown after surviving earthquakes in the rubble for days on end. –– Bear Grylls

"Somebody call 9-fucking-11!" Diego yells as he rushes to Hollie's side and kneels down next to me. A lot of the students have come out and they're all shocked to see the scene in front of them. Today is just supposed to be a fun evening where we all enjoy prom and just let loose before school ends for the summer.

"You're not going to die on me," I yell as I start doing CPR on her. "Do you hear me Hollie? You won't die today!"

Elise has tears running down her face as she's clutching onto her chest and hyperventilating. Cole has his arm around her while he's trying to calm her down. He is extremely shocked as well. When he saw Hollie lying on the concrete I swear I could see a thousand emotions flashing through his eyes. My head snaps up from Hollie's body when I hear the ambulance arrive.

Four paramedics jump out of the car as they take a gurney from the back and rush to Hollie. They place an oxygen mask around her face as they lift her onto the gurney. The paramedics apply some medical pads onto her wounds so it would stop the bleeding a little bit. They place different wires onto her, which start showing her pulse and blood pressure on the small screen in front of me.

"There's no pulse," One of them says. "Intubate her and charge paddles to 200." He's handed two paddles as another one charges them. "Clear." He says and presses the paddles onto Hollie's chest, sending shocks through her body as it jumps up from the ground about 5 centimeters. There's a small beep on the screen as the paramedic hands the paddles back. "We got sinus." He says as he lifts up the gurney and rushes to the car.

"What hospital are you taking her to?" I ask as I run up to them quickly.

"Riverview Central," one of the men replies as they push Hollie's inside and the ambulance disappears from out vision, the sound of sirens echoing through the air. I grab Diego and Elise and rush to my car.

"We need to make sure she's okay," I stutter as I'm trying to get my seatbelt buckled. "Why the hell isn't this thing going in?" I yell out of frustration. I just push the seatbelt aside and turn on the car, backing out of the parking lot as quickly as I can.

Diego places his hand on my shoulder, "Take a deep breath. She'll be fine, make sure you don't crash into someone. Keep your mind clear and your eyes only on the road."

Yes, I'm slightly intoxicated right now and adrenaline is rushing through my veins, now obviously isn't the best time to drive a car as my mind is somewhere else but I just have to make sure everything is okay with her and nothing serious happened. I can't even imagine what I'd do if something bad happened to her. Once that thought crosses my mind, I press down on the gas pedal harder as the car accelerates to 60 miles per hour. I park my car once I get to the hospital and immediately rush into the emergency room, my eyes scanning the room to desperate find Hollie.

"Where's Hollie O'Connor?" I ask as I run up to a nurse. "This is important, we're her friends and we saw what happened to her." The nurse looks as us and points to a room. We run there and I notice the words 'Trauma Room 2' written on it. I peek through the window and see a ton of doctors around her, all doing something different. She still has the tube in her mouth while they're injecting all kinds of things into her body.

"She's coding!" a doctor yells loudly enough for me to hear. "Charge to 250," he says as he's handed the paddles. He presses them against Hollie and shocks her. There's no change on the monitor in front of him. "Push one of epi and charge to 300." The paddles are charged one again and the doctor places them onto Hollie's chest. "Clear!" He shouts as everybody removes his or her hands from Hollie's body. "Book an OR and somebody page Dr. Holt right now."

A nurse runs out of the trauma room and pages someone as the doctors rush out of the room and start heading for the elevators. "Is she okay?" I ask, running up to them. I look at Hollie and her face is completely blank like she isn't alive anymore, but the little green light on their screen gives me reassurance.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we aren't allowed to reveal patient details unless you're part of her family but judging from your attire we're positive you're not. Now, if you please excuse us." I freeze in my steps as they leave me. I get a final look at Hollie before they turn on a corner and disappear from my vision.

Diego places a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Everything will be fine."

"I need a fucking cigarette." I mutter as I grab Diego by the arm and lead him outside. Taking a seat on the bench at the emergency entrance of the hospital, I grab a cigarette from Diego and light it as I place it in-between my lips. My stress level is so high right now I couldn't care less about the police seeing me like this. I lift my gaze as I see a creepy looking man walk into the hospital, his hands in the pockets of his jacket. Diego takes a sip of his vodka as I finish the cigarette and throw it into the rubbish bin. Elise tightens the jacket around her shoulders as we walk back inside the same time Hollie's parents arrive.

Mike grabs Diego by the jacket before we can walk in and slams him against the rock wall. "This is all your fault!" He yells, way too close to Diego's face. "You're the reason why she turned into a bad person, it's all your fault. If she dies I swear to God I will make sure you don't just get away with it. You will pay for what you did to her."

Amy, Hollie's mother, places a hand on her husband's shoulder and pulls him away, "Stop threatening minors, you'll the one going to jail if you're going to continue the way you behave. We need to make sure our daughter is okay. Go and ask the nurses."

Mike releases Diego and huffs as he walks inside. Amy turns to us and gives us a little smile, "Sorry about that, he can be a little dramatic sometimes."

Diego snorts, "I think you meant to say psychopath."

Amy chuckles. "What happened to Hollie anyway? The details they gave us weren't that accurate."

"She was shot. Simple as that." Diego says. He doesn't listen to another word Amy's saying. He just grabs Elise and I and drags us inside as we head to the waiting area of the hospital. We will stay here for God knows how many hours but I need to make sure Hollie's okay before I can go back home. I'm positive I'm not going to leave her alone for one second after this happened. Diego and Elise take a seat on the uncomfortable seats they've lined up against the wall as I pace back and forth in the waiting area, probably making everyone pissed off but I couldn't care less.

Now we just have to wait and see what happens.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

3 and a half hours.

That's how long we've been waiting and no sign of Hollie or the doctors. It's past midnight now and I've chugged down like three espressos to keep myself awake. Amy and Mike are sitting with us as well but they aren't saying anything to us. Mike is acting as if we don't even exist. I hastily run a hand through my hair as I sit down. I grab my phone out of my pocket and see a few missed calls from my parents so I just text them I'm okay and place my phone back into the pocket.

My head snaps up when I hear a door opening. I notice two surgeons walking towards us and my heart picks up speed as I imagine the worst scenarios in my head. What if Hollie lost all her memory and has no idea who I am? What if she died? What if she's in a coma? A thousand more thoughts run through my head before the doctors reach us.

"Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor?" Dr. Holt asks and Hollie's parents nod their heads. He looks at us for a second, "I'm guessing you're her friends." I nod my head, waiting for him to continue.

"Hollie's injuries were bad," He starts. "There was a lot of bleeding, which we had difficulty to control. We found out her liver is in a bad stage, which I'm guessing is due to alcohol, and if she's going to continue her lifestyle that way she may need a liver transplant before she's 20."

"Just tell us if she's okay or not." I blurt.

"There was a lot of bleeding. Her spleen was completely ruptured due to the bullet, which is why we had to do an emergency splenectomy. She coded twice on the table and we barely managed to save her but we did. She's currently in ICU, but we're monitoring her closely."

"Can I see her?" I immediately ask.

"She's currently under anesthesia but she should wake up shortly. If the parents don't want to see her first then you can come with us."

Hollie's parents don't respond.

"Alright, let's go," I say as I almost grab the doctor from the arm.

As I get up I notice the man who walked past us earlier sitting there. He gets up as we're about to leave and I motion for Diego to look at his phone.

Me: The man in all black clothing looks suspicious. Go follow him and see if he owns the black SUV.

Diego: Roger that.

Diego grabs Elise's hand before they closely follow the man. I walk behind the doctor through some doors and then some more doors and even more doors until we get to a small corridor with patient rooms. The doctor leads me to one and that's where I notice Hollie. Her eyes are closed and there isn't a single sound in the room. Her face is all-clean from the makeup and I admire the girl laying on the bed. Even after surgery she manages to look beautiful. I take a few steps closer to her and grab her hand, desperately waiting for her to wake up. She stirs in her sleep and I straighten my posture to look at her closely. Her eyes slowly open and she looks at me.

I've never felt to glad in my life.

She's okay and that's all that matters.

a/n: you didn't think I'd kill Hollie, did ya? Well we'll see what happens.

Who's the mystery man though?

Let me know your thoughts down below. All feedback is welcome.

Next update: idk hopefully before Christmas.

All the love,

Charlie
