Athena

A week went past and school had been much more welcoming than I could've ever imagined. Since last week, Olivia and I have gotten even more closer. In fact, in 2 days, Friday, we are going to have a sleepover. which I've never really had with a girl before. I am so excited.

We also have found out a lot about one another- she use to be super sporty. Although she only did track now (which is sporty enough), she also use to do soccer, basketball, hockey and way more that I didn't want to spend a day listing.

She also told me about her crush in 1st grade, totally flopped because she farted in front of him. Unfortunately, we were in class while she told me and we both couldn't stop laughing. We ended up getting split apart and even despite that we would make slight eye contact with one another and burst out in a fit of laughter all over again.

Cole and Alex have been inseparable. They play basketball at school every day and if they weren't at school they were doing the same at the park or either one of our houses. They even went far enough to take away a few fence's down which was quite a hasty move despite not knowing each other for very long.

Furthermore, the two of our families have become super close to the point of my dad and their dad agreeing to replace it with a gate. Using that as a little 'stereotypical man building bond moment'- what a bunch of idiots.

What made everything worse was that Ryder constantly pisses me off. Why? I wanted to know that myself. I breathe and somehow it becomes a trigger to become a dick. Every time I think of him I feel myself sigh. While in class he pulled my chair backwards to I missed it and fell on the floor ass first. You didn't understand how close I was to becoming wanted for murder in those moments. I would be facing trial as of now, pleading guilty if I was brave enough. But I wasn't brave enough, not for murder at least, so a swift slap to the head settled it for me.

Not that it did anything because he simply continued to laugh, but harder. It didn't even affect him one tiny bit. Which made my embarrassment worsen. He also dared to get me a detention after school. Which I guess wasn't a big deal. But I didn't want to be in school any longer than I already had to be if Olivia wasn't by my side.

It's Wednesday and I had been standing in the shower for way too long thinking about life. I decided to get out because I know I take a little too long to get ready and I didn't want to be late.

I decided to wear a grey Nike hoodie and a pair of light blue jeans, it was quite a bit colder today so a hoodie was a necessity. I did the same as I did every morning and kissed my mum goodbye as both my brother and I walked out of the house. Knocking for Cole then going to school.

As soon as we got there I sorted out my books and headed over to Olivia. She, Charlotte and  Evie were in a deep conversation and I didn't know whether to interrupt but Olivia did a 'come here' hand motion and I instantly walked over there.

"Can she know?" Olivia asked Evie and she nodded with a smile that was put on. She didn't seem in the best mood. As soon as I walked over she instantly began with her troubles.

"I have noticed Romeo being distant to me, I didn't think much of it but it just worried me slightly how he's not been around me as much or talking to me in general. But I wasn't worried about me but him because I thought something was on his mind and I was going to ask him about it on Friday but I saw him laughing with another girl.

So I didn't want to interrupt and decided to ask to meet up so we could talk about him and if there was anything wrong and just to see him in general. But when I texted him later if he could meet on Saturday he said he already had plans, I asked the boys if he was meeting them but they didn't know. But I just guessed he was going to meet another friend or something with his family. But it was weird as he would always tell me what he's doing.

I tried doing the same on a Sunday but he just opened it and didn't reply and I got so confused. Maybe he didn't realise I messaged him and accidentally opened it.

Then Monday came and he avoided me, And when I saw him he was with that same girl laughing" I can feel her struggle to get words out.

"Then yesterday I saw them two being super touchy, they even hugged. And I wouldn't be so worried about this if he wasn't acting this way. I mean am I meant to be feeling like this? Am I overreacting? It's just a hug, right? Maybe he's just in a bad place right now" She sniffled, I could tell she was trying to hold the tears back. It was hard to watch. So I hugged her and she cried while I did so, even if it wasn't too comforting its the least I could do.

I knew she needed it. She got herself together and smiled slightly at us all. I mean just from her story I felt as though it was as clear as day he was cheating on her. I mean Evie didn't even know the girl and he was being touchy with her all while avoiding Evie. It was probably only a matter of time before he breaks up with her and his avoiding her was probably to prolong the breakup.

" How about we spy on him" Charlotte suggests as a joke but we all looked at each other and realised how dumb but slightly smart, not really, that idea was.

"You know his lessons right, Evie?" Olivia asks her and she nods while grinning. The bell rings and we instantly run into the girl's toilets until 15 minutes have gone past. The 4 of us all go into the same toilet which is at the back, As it's the biggest one.

We wrote down a fake note just in case a teacher spotted us. We were going to bunk some of the day. And it was super easy to do so but no one does it just because.

We walked out of the toilets and we walked by the window near the classroom he was in. luckily he was on the bottom floor for this one. So we didn't have to do some next up spy shit.

I saw him laughing with some girl and they were being quite touchy. "That's her" Evie says while biting her nails I could tell she was on edge. But I rubbed her back. She looked at me with a worried expression but I smile and she instantly smiles back at me. I could see why she was worried.

But I wasn't someone in the place to say that. I had known the girl for a week and was not going to give myself a title to comment on her almost two-year relationship.

We watched the two of them talk non-stop throughout the lesson. And then it ends and the next lesson comes and when we check they weren't in the same lesson together. So we all decided we would go to our next lesson in which we all had together luckily.

  We all came in late but as the teacher wasn't bothered he just shrugged it off. We all sat at the back joking about every now and again but also concentrating because we don't want to fail anything.

One more lesson goes by which he also doesn't have with that one girl so Olivia and I decide to go to our class while Evie and charlotte go to theirs.

Next break comes by and we notice Romeo isn't here so we all nod and tell the boys we needed to go to the toilet which is a good enough excuse as what girl goes toilet by herself?

We decided we would go secretly search for him but it fails and we don't find him. Next period charlotte is in his lesson and she told us that she'll look out and see how he acts when that certain girl isn't around. Which turned out to be him acting how he usually does.

The next period we found out he had a class with her. So we snuck into the toilets doing the same we had done the first period. After 10 minutes of staying in the toilet we walk about heading to the classroom he was in and as we turn the corner a sudden flash of Deja Vu happened. I smash into someone's hard stomach.

I felt myself falling backwards but an arm suddenly went around me before I could hit the ground and as I looked up I saw certain grey eyes. Both Ryder and I stood there for a few seconds just staring but I heard a cough which definitely was not one of the girls. We both snapped out of it and stood straight. He had a long way to go up.

"Is this the girl in the rumours?" One of his friends say. "What rumours?" I ask but I wish I didn't.

"Well the first ones would be 'The short cute girl with the goos body' 'The one who's friends with Ryder Johnson' and many more," he says laughing slightly at my taken aback expression when he said friends with Ryder. That is not true at all. His other friend just stands there quietly. I guess he was shy? Or uninterested.

"Me and the midget aren't friends." I nodded but then the idiot just carried on "We are more" He laughs slightly "No we are not you idiot" I slap his side but he puts his arm around my shoulder.

"Get your heavy arm off of me" I yell. "Be more quiet midget, you could get caught and get a detention" I shut up realising that was true. I didn't want to get the rest of them in trouble for truanting because of my loud mouth. He laughs slightly and finally moves the arm he had kept on me while I spent the whole time struggling to get it off. I turn to the girls and mouth "run" Then turn to Ryder and kick him in the shin and we all run away. Them in front of me. Obviously, since I don't run fast. Or run at all, really.

That was for continuously calling me a midget.

He doesn't even seem fazed when he starts running at me and gets me in a sort of headlock. I was whacking him continuously to let go. He was gentle but the position was not a nice one and lead me to start yelling. "GET OFF ME RYDER."

We heard the door open and by then both of our friends had ran away. We looked at the door and out came a teacher with a furious expression. "Principals office. Now" She screams and we let go of one another as we try to untangled out of our little excuse of a fight where I was trying to get out of his head lock by trying to punch him backwards.

We walked over to the door of the principals office, and the nice man whom I had met on my first day opened up with a smile.

"Ryder, Athena- Nice to see the two of you. come in" He says and we both fight on who goes through the door first but I just managed the slide in, feeling proud of myself.

"The two of you have gotten close" The principal states and just when I was about to disagree The idiot does his little interrupting me thing he enjoys so much " Yep, we have haven't we" He smirks at me making me roll my eyes.

"What brings the two of you here?" He asks just before taking a sip of his tea. "Couple counselling" Ryder says in a serious tone.

"Oh shut up, We are here because we got caught truanting" I say to them both. The principal nods and writes a on these red slips and give us one. "This is for your couple counselling, come back later today" The principal says as my Jaw hits the floor but then he just laughs "I'm joking Athena, its a detention slip, you both go to the class written on the slip for an hour and go home" He still laughs slightly after. "Yes sir, that's what normally happens when you have a detention" Ryder laughs slightly and so does the principal and I.

The bell goes telling us its lunch and we say goodbye to the principal and walk out, He goes one direction and  head to the cafeteria where everyone apart from Romeo was. "What happened Athena?" Olivia asks "I got sent to the principals office with Ryder and got a detention, that's it" I smile and she smiles back. "guys" Charlotte whispers "We have a mission to finish" And so Evie, charlotte, Oliva and I walked out.

We walked around the school and headed to places we didn't have enough time to get to in break.

We searched around the whole school not finding him until Evie suddenly spoke up "What about the back of the school? we haven't gone there yet" And so we done that. But the results wasn't unexpected but just horrible to see. And I wasn't even Evie.

There Romeo was. With that same girl we was suspicious about , tongues down one another's throat but my eyes didn't stare in horror at that and more at Evies reaction. She started crying deeply and fell to the floor as her legs gave up on her, making Romeo turn, scared and guilty. "E-Evie?" He stutters.

The rest of us block him out as we turn to Evie and help her up. No one was outside luckily and we managed to get her in the car as we could tell how heavy her body felt for her.

"I'll take her to mine. You guys can leave" Charlotte says as she goes into the car and leaves.
