Chapter Ten: Casa De Landon

Landon crossed his arms and stared at us, his gaze piercing through mine and Lewis'.

I glance over at Lewis and he does the same.

Landon taps his foot impatiently. "So, anyone care to explain?"

Lewis and I immediately point our fingers at each other. "He did it!" "She did it'"

I snap my head round to Lewis. "This is your fault!"

"No this is your fault!"

"I didn't know HE was your brother!"

Landon coughs loudly. "He's standing right here."

We both stare back at him. I sink in my seat.

Landon picks up an apple and I quickly duck my head. "What are you doing?"

I sit back up. "Oh I thought you were going to throw it at- never mind."

He rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to Lewis. "Lewis, what have I told you about bringing people to my room?"

"Not to."

"Good. You ever going to do it again?"

Lewis silently shakes his head.

"Have you eaten dinner, buddy?"

He taps his chin and makes a 'hmm' sound. "Do Oreos count?"

"I'll order pizza."

Lewis hugs him. "Okay Lewis, you can leave now. I need to talk to your babysitter. Alone."

I sink in my seat further.

Lewis gives me a thumbs up and leaves the room.

I look up at Landon. "I know I'm hot but there's no need to drool, Gem."

I scoff and watch him sit on the coffee table in front of me.

Did he just put his butt on something that cost more then I'd probably earn in a lifetime.

He stares at me intently making me shift uncomfortably under his gaze.

Geez Louise, does this guy not know what personal space is? Did I just say geez louise? Dammit Landon.

"Stop staring at me."

"And what if I don't."

"I'll- ugh why are you so infuriating!" I whine.

He raises an amused eyebrow. "Aw do I have an effect on you, Gem."

"A gross effect, yes. You're like that annoying itch no one can ever reach."

He rolls his eyes at my response.

"I didn't know you were into books, Zuko."

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, Gem." He shrugs.

"Can I see it?"

"Sure let me just pull my zipper down." I gasp and shove him. Freak.

He dramatically falls on the floor. "I was talking about your book collection!"

"Sure you were." He winks at me.

"I was!" I shout as I watch him walk up the stairs.

"Coming, Gem?"

I groan and follow him.

I look around the house and admire its beauty. I must seem like a tourist but this place is a literal castle.

"I can't believe you live here. Being rich must be awesome."

He scoffs. "Not as great as you think."

He opens his door and waits for me to go in. I step in and he bows, making me smile.

"Welcome to Casa de Landon."

"Since when did you become Spanish?"

He spins a basketball on his finger. Show off. "Actually it's Portuguese. Add that to the list of things you don't know about me, I'm Brazilian."

"No wonder Lewis has a great skin tone!"

"Lewis. Seriously? Any sane girl would've thought 'No wonder you look godly, Landon! I always knew you were exotic and beautiful."

I walk over to his bookcase. "I'm not like other girls."

Did I just really say that? Really Heidi? yOu'Re nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs.

"I know you're not." He gets up standing behind me. "Have you ever read this one?"

He leans over and reaches for a book. His breath fans my neck, making me involuntarily shiver.

He hands me a paperback. The edges look worn out as if it's been it's been read a million times. He must really love this book.

The Great Gatsby.

I take it from him and our hands brush past each other. I glance up at him and see him staring down at me, his gaze piercing through mine. The close proximity made my heart race. Was it normal to feel like this?

I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me or Landon actually leaned in, but Lewis chooses to burst through the door at that exact moment. "PIZZAS HERE!"

We both spring away from each other.

Landon has an annoyed expression on his face. "Lewis I swear I just told you to not fucking come into my room without permission."

"Oh I get it... I was 'interrupting' something." He turns around. "More pizza for me."

"I'm the babysitter it's mine!" I quickly run past him and head for the door.

I hear Lewis yell whilst running after me. "It's mine, I asked for it!"

I look back to see Landon running after us too. "I'm the one paying!"

I slide down the banister of the stairs and jump off. I silently do a little victory dance since I reached the door first. I glance at the door and see Landon already standing there with Lewis, their arms folded.

I gape at them. "HOW THE!"

"Never underestimate the Knight boys, Gem." They both tut.

I bite my lip trying to think of a way to distract them. I look to my left and scream. "OH MY GOD ITS CHANNING TATUM!" It was dumb but it sure got their attention, making them turn around.

I run towards the door and they quickly catch on. By the time I reach the door we all have our hand on the door knob, sending each other challenging glares.

"Okay, let's open it together on 3?" Landon suggests.

We all nod.  Landon starts. "3."

"2." Lewis continues.

"1!" I shout and open the door.

We all fall through the door at once, landing on the hard, marble floor outside.

I groan and rub my side and watch the boys do the same.

The pizza delivery boy stands there looking at us, not knowing how to react. I give him a pained smile.

He scratches the back of his neck. "Uh that'll be $20..."
