Chapter 44: Famiglia

🍪Ellie's P.O.V

It was the time where the snow hits the ground, the nights were colder and longer, and the jingle bell song was on repeat.

Christmas.

I glanced at Theodore, his lips in a concentrated pout as he colored Olaf's nose seriously.

My attention turned to the window, seeing snow slowly littering from the sky. My bruises were gone and so was V and Annie.

They went MIA since the kidnapping incident and Chase made the pack of skittles believe that they went on a secret lover's cruise.

I didn't know how they reacted seeing that I wasn't there when Chase told them, Ark has been on my ass and kept pushing me to tell Alec the truth.

I'm a chicken, you don't even have to say it but a selfish part of me wants to spare Alec the pain of knowing the truth.

Rody's phone hasn't been unlocked yet, apparently there were some virus sh!t that prevented them from fully accessing the data in the phone.

The twins and Connor have been cursing the person who placed it there and had been working on trying to override the virus.

Tonight was the christmas party that my mom will be hosting and the pack of skittles were invited.

"Ellie! Come down right now," Mom's voice rang from downstairs."In the kitchen." She bellowed once more.

I pushed myself up from my bent state where I was helping Theodore color his frozen coloring book and stood up.

"I wanna go go go." Theodore raised his arms, wanting to be carried.

I picked him up, letting out a small grunt at his sudden weight. Theodore had slung one of his hand behind my neck and gently kick his legs back and forth.

"Is it just my twigs arms or did you become more heavier buddy?" I glanced at Theodore, carefully making my way downstairs.

Theodore giggled."Its yow twig awms Ellie."

I pressed a soft kiss to his cheeks, his face beaming at the action."I should probably start working out for that." I muttered.

We quickly crossed the foyer, stopping in my tracks at the sight of someone who stood next to my mom.

"Uh, is everything okay?" I glanced at Alec's terrified expression and back to my mom who slammed the butcher knife into the slab of meat.

"You didn't tell me your boyfriend was coming over sweetie." Mom said, her eyes focused on the task.

I didn't know either mom, I thought. My heart speed up at the sight of my favorite skittle and the smile he gave my way.

I cleared my throat, the familiar heat rushing into my cheeks."He's not my boyfriend, yet." I added noticing Alec who was ready to pipe in.

Mom nodded."But you already swapped spittle, yes?" She continued and the heat crawled up to my neck and ears.

"Mom, no." I denied, shaking my vigorously.

"Technically, it was just a peck." Alec trailed off, both of us answering the same time.

Mom paused before turning around, her eyes narrowed at us and brought the knife upwards.

"So, who's the one telling the truth?" She asks, resting her back against the countertop.

Alec glanced at me before turning to my mom."Ellie's lying." He answered, making me gasp.

Mom set the knife down before bursting into laughter, the melodic sound meeting my ears.
Alec had a confused look on his face and I threw him a glare.

"How dare you Alec King! You son of a snitch!" I accused, placing Theodore down who ran to mom's side.

Alec had a lopsided grin on his face, letting out a shrug."I ain't gonna lie to your mom cookie."

"I ain't gonna lie to your mom cookie," I mimicked sarcastically, making him chuckle.

I turned to my mom, throwing her a slight glare."That's wasn't funny mom," I deadpan.

Mom's green eyes were smiling at me."I'm sorry sweetie, I couldn't help it." She replied.

Theodore who was at my mom's side let out a surprised gasp, his lips in angry pout.

"You were being a momster mom!" Theodore accused, pointing a chubby finger at mom.

Mom was the one looking terrified this time and washed her hand quickly, going to Theodore and brought her in his arms.

"Mommy was just joking baby!" She defended.

Theodore huff before crossing his arms across his chest."It wasn't fwunny mom," He replied.

Mom pouted childishly."Okay fine, no more jokes Theo." She kissed his cheek."For now," She winked at me.

I let out a small groan at her antics but I wouldn't trade her for the world, I thought.

"You came in such an unexpected time Alec. You're going to the party later, right?" My mom turned to Alec, placing Theo down.

Alec rubbed the back of his neck, a sign that he was nervous."Yes Elena but Ellie texted me that you're lacking hands and wanted to offer some help," He replied, his voice trailing off in the end in a hesitant note.

I glanced at him in surprise. It's true that I did text him but that was only fifteen minutes ago. A wide smile graced at my mom's lip and I knew exactly what she was thinking.

Fuck, I thought. She's gonna start planning our wedding after this.

"Can you do the groceries for me? There some missing ingredients and I have to start cooking now," Mom replied, referring to ingredients that were readied on the countertop.

Alec nodded, his yummy lips set on a smile."Absolutely, just give me the list and I'll be on my way Elena."

Mom pulled a paper from the pockets of the apron she wore and handed it to him."Yes and I want you guys to take Theodore. He's been wanting to get out and see the snow." She grinned, her green eyes twinkling.

"Guys? You mean, I'm coming with this snitch? Uh, no thank you." I shook my head while Theodore let out an excited cheer.

When my mom's eyes flashed, I knew I didn't have a choice. I sighed, turning around to the direction of my room.

"Okay mom, let me get change first." I grumbled, walking out of the kitchen.

Annoying skittle.

I changed into a cute knitted sweaters that I tucked into my pants and paired it with black uggs.

Taking my chapstick, I quickly swiped it on my lips and did a small pout before smiling. I nodded to myself before quickly going back downstairs.

"Where's Alec and Theodore mom?" I asked, looking around the kitchen.

"They're already outside babe. You guys be careful," Mom answered, continuing to chop the carrots.

"We will mom, bye, I love you." I walked out of the kitchen and went outside.

I could feel myself shiver, the cold winter air biting into the exposed skin that my clothing couldn't protect. The ground wasn't completely thick in snow yet but there was enough that you could build a snowman.

I quickly made my way towards Alec's car, letting out a satisfied sigh when I was finally inside and heater warming me up. Alec only started driving when my seatbelt was on.

"Is this the silent treatment?" Alec asks, a few moments of silence passing in the car.

I kept my gaze on the window, staring at the scenery that we passed by. I let out a jump when Alec suddenly poked me on my tickle area.

"You're a snitch, snitch." I grumbled, crossing my arms across my chest.

"If you don't look at me cookie, I won't buy you two, no, five pack of skittles in the store." Alec said, his tone filled with humor.

Damn it.

He knows the way to my heart.

I finally turned my gaze to him, smiling at him."You're forgiven baby." I cheekily said, making him bite his lip.

I turned to Theodore checking to see if he was okay. The little guy now wore a beige puffer jacket underneath his shirt, a trousers, and shoes.

He gave me a toothy grin, his dark hair enclosed in his beanie. Theodore was strapped into the child safety seat and I couldn't help but noticed that it wasn't the same that we used.

"Did my mom bought a new one?" I thought out loud.

"No, that's mine." Alec answered, his blue eyes glancing at me briefly.

I paused."Is this your way of telling me that you have a child?" A slow teasing grin made its way into my lips.

Alec low chuckle met my ears."No cookie, I just bought it in case we need to ride with Theo." He answered, his finger tapping unto the wheel gently.

I let out an aw, the image of a giant skittle walking around the kid's section and asking for a safety seat is just damn cute.

"And people call you a bad boy," I shook my head, turning my stare to the front.

"Theodowe's here guys." Alec and I glanced at one another in amusement at Theodore's adorable voice piping in our conversation.

"I'm sorry little man, how are you doing back there? Are you comfortable?" Alec glanced at the rearview.

I turned to my little brother, the seatbelt gently digging into my chest at the action. Theodore gently wiggled his feet, a smile on his lips.

"I'm okay mister! We're gonna get ice cream after this, right?" He asks, clasping his hand together.

"Yes we are buddy, don't worry. Alec's not gonna forget," I assured him, my smile widening.

Alec snorted."I'm totally not gonna forget little man, its ice cream we're talking about."

Theodore's green doe eyes met mine before crinkling slightly."Exactly mister!"

~☺~

The door let out a small ding once we entered the ice cream shop. I could practically feel the excitement waving off in Theodore's body.

"What flavor do you want Theodore?" I turned to small child that was being carried by my handsome skittle.

I was surprised at how attached and close the both of them were with one another. I find it cute how Theodore would literally follow Alec wherever he goes earlier in the store.

"I want chocolate chip cookie dow (dough) large cone!" He answered excitedly, his little feet wiggling.

My mom would probably kill me for buying him the large one but oh well, the little guy deserves to have a craving satisfaction once in a while.

"I'll have a mint chocolate chip, large cone also." Alec piped in, his eyes on the menu above us.

"And I'll have cookies and cream, large cone too." I smiled politely, handing the payment to the lady.

"Thank you for coming here! Merry christmas to you and your family!" She said, handing the cones one by one.

We sat on the corner booth, Theodore in between us. The ice cream shop didn't have many customers and it was probably because of the winter season.

"Chocolate is the best ice cweam fwavor in the entire gawaxy!" Theodore claimed, his green eyes brimming with happiness.

Alec playfully gasped, turning to look at him. "Oh no no no, Mint chocolate chip is the best one little guy."

"Mint is spicy! Ew, what kind of ice cweam fwavor is that?" Theodre disagreed, his nose scrunching.

Alec gently bump his arm against his shoulder."Hey! It still tastes awesome." He said, holding the cone near to his heart.

"Uh, excuse me," I interjected, their stares turning to me."Cookies and cream is considered as the best ice cream flavor mainly because it has a hint of vanilla that many people like and the chocolate that also catches the heart of younger people." I declared, leaning back to my seat.

Theodore gasped, turning to Alec."Nothing is better than chocolate." They both chorused out.

I gave them a flat look."Vanilla is better than chocolate." I stated, finishing off my cold dessert.

"Chocolate is the universal flavor." Alec interjected, Theodore nodding to what he said.

"According to the international Dairy Foods Association or IDFA, Vanilla beats chocolate as America's favorite ice cream flavor. Vanilla is the nation's favorite ice cream flavor and beats chocolate for the second time, and I found this on google." I said, memorizing that phrase.

(A. N: This is true, I searched it on google and was also surprised so slay the world vanilla)

They both glanced at me with surprise in their eyes before turning to one another and nodded.

"She's wying mister," Theodore said, licking his ice cream off the cone.

"I second on that little guy." Alec agreed, both of them casting me accusing looks.

"Theodore! I can't believe you're teaming up with that snitch, just moments ago you were fighting between which ice cream flavor is the best," I pointed out, my lips in a pout.

"Boys rule, girls drool." Theodore giggled, poking his tongue out.

"Why you little—" I moved closer to him and started tickling the bees out of him.

Adorable fits of giggle escaped Theodore's mouth, trying to push my hands away all the while protecting his hold on the cone.

"Mister! Help me, the tickle monster is here!" Theodore exclaimed, jumping into the skittle's awaiting arms.

Oh, how I wish it was me instead him.

Oh Gods.

"Do not fear little guy, the might knight is here." Alec quickly hid Theodore in his chest, pointing his cone at me.

I stared at him in amusement."A cone? Seriously? You're gonna stop me with a cone?" I deadpan, laughter bubbling out of me.

Theodore bursted out giggling and Alec stared at his cone before he started laughing as well.
An old couple passed by our booth and the old woman let out a loud 'aw' and greeted us.

"Oh mio! Che famiglia felice! It's really heartwarming to see families bonding during Christmas season!" She gleefully said to her husband

(Oh my! What a happy family!)

The lady then turned to us,"What a bella moglie and figlio you have! Family these days don't even know the significato of christmas si?" She said, her italian accent evident.

I didn't know king kong about what she said and I turned to Alec, nodding my head for him to answer but he already seemed to know.

"Grazie Signora! Mi considero un uomo fortunato!" Alec replied, his accent making it more heavenly in the ears.

(Thank you! I consider myself a very lucky man!)

Did you hear that? Yeah, that was my ovaries exploding into tiny pieces.

Yeah, not exactly a nice thing to imagine but you get my point ladies.

The lady beamed at his reply."Merry Christmas!" She smiled, walking away with his husband.

When they were out of the shop, I turned to Alec."What did she say?" I asked, my head tilting to the side.

Alec glanced at Theodore who was still in his arms and turned to me, the softness in his gaze made me want to melt into a puddle of ice cream.

"Something along the lines of how beautiful you both are and the family we're gonna have." He smiled, my cheeks heating up at this.

I cleared my throat, feeling flustered. Ah, shit this time its my heart that's gonna explode. I quickly stood up, Alec's stare turning into amusement.

"I need to pee." I declared before walking towards where the bathroom was. I let out a breath, placing a hand to calm my heart.

I quickly closed the door and stared at the mirror, my cheeks were bright pink and my eyes were wide but the wide smile that was on my lips was a sign that I was happy.

Alec King makes me happy.

I fixed my hair briefly before doing my business and walked out of the bathroom, feeling more relaxed and giddy.

Alec was wiping the remains of ice cream on the side of Theodore's mouth. The little guy was sitting on his lap with his head tilted up slightly.

"I wanna sleep now." Theodore pouted, his eyes closing briefly.

Alec ruffled his hair gently, pulling him up to his arms and rested Theo's head on the crook of his neck.

"Okay little guy, let's go cookie." He turned to me, taking a hold of my hand.

"I can carry him you know," I gently weaved my fingers with his, the familiar tingles was present.

"It'll make your back hurt and arms ache beautiful, don't worry. He isn't that heavy." He assured, walking hurriedly to his car.

The drive back was quiet and relaxing, Alec played the radio on but lowered the volume enough that it wouldn't wake the sleeping child up.

I was half-asleep by the time we got back and practically crawled out of the car."I'll get Theodore skittle, you get the groceries to mom." I said, quickly fixing my sweater.

Alec nodded and made his way to the back of his car where it was, I didn't wait up for him but left the door open instead.

"We're here mom," I whisper shouted, passing by the kitchen foyer and peeked in.

Mom turned to us, her stare latching unto the sleeping rascal."Tuck him in sweetie, where's Alec?" She asks, wiping her hand against the dish towel.

"He's bringing the groceries in." I answered before heading upstairs and tucked Theodore in his captain America theme bed.

I did a small stretch before making way towards my room and brushing my teeth. I didn't like the way my saliva felt and the aftermath of eating sweets.

By the time I went back to the kitchen, Alec was nowhere to be seen and my mom was standing at the corner with a troubled look.

"Where's Alec mom?" I asked, glancing around the kitchen.

She gripped her chin, her elbow resting on the back of her other arm."He left honey." She replied, my brows knitting in confusion.

He already left? Well that's odd, its unusual for him to leave without giving atleast a goodbye to me.

"Already? That snitch didn't even say goodbye to me." I huffed, making my way towards the countertop where the ingredients where.

Mom let out a nervous laugh making me pause in my steps."That wouldn't be because of me mentioning that Todd kissed you, right?" She hesitated making my eyes widened.

"Ah shit, that's definitely it mom."
