CHAPTER 14: Our Favorite Place

🍪Ellie's P.O.V

"Wait. This isn't a dream right?" I asked, glancing at Sadie with a wide eyes.

She giggled,"You aren't dreaming Ellie. Everything's real, including your hair." She assured.

I grinned, turning back to the mirror and leaning in close. I touched my hair once again before pinching myself and indeed confirming that I wasn't dreaming.

I had fucking ombre hair.

The color contrasted nicely on my pale skin and I couldn't help but uwu at how it also made my eyes popped.

I stood up and pulled Sadie in for hug. She was quite surprised for a few seconds before she hugged back, patting my back like what a mother would do.

"Thank you! You made the making me more than average looking project quite successful. I really really really love it," I smiled, pulling away.

"I knew from the moment that I saw you, You're one of those girls who preferred to hide in those cute glasses and be low key. Well, I just want you to know that you were already beautiful before this dear. Accept who you are and flaunt it, the world deserves to see such precious beauty," She said, her words giving me a sense of warmth and encouragement that I didn't know I needed.

I couldn't say anything and pulled her in for another big hug. Sometimes, all we really need is a push to realize something and I'm thankful that Sadie was the one who gave me that push.

I'm not insecure about my looks, I just get really shy and lack the confidence in putting myself out there.

It's sad because there are people who are complete assholes when women empower theirselves and place hate instead of encouragement.

Like why can't ya'll just continue scrolling down when you have nothing good to say?

"Just do me a favor and take care of our Todd. He needs genuine people in his life," She said, once we pulled away.

"We haven't met that long but I already consider him as a good friend of mine." I revealed, a genuine smile forming on my lips.

"That actually made me blush," A voice piped in behind us.

I turned around, Todd did a little pause in his walk when his eyes met mine and took notice of my hair. He did a small double take and I couldn't help but grin.

"You look stunning," He complimented,"You truly are the best Aunt Sadie." He turned to her, a smile on his face.

Aunt Sadie gave a little curtsy and bow earning a giggle from me. Todd chuckle before he ruffled his hair lightly and fixed his beanie.

"I'm guessing its on the house?" He cheekily asked, his lips pulling back to reveal his pearly whites.

"What? Nooo!" I interjected, shaking my head profusely.

"You know me so well," Sadie said, offering me a nod of reassurance as if to say its okay.

I was surprised when Todd gently wrapped his hand around my wrist and pulled me towards him. I stumbled lightly and felt my cheeks heat up.

"Well, we better get going Aunt Sadie." Todd said, pulling her in for a short side-hug.

"Be safe darlings and please tell Annie to visit me." She replied, a look of mischief in her eyes

Todd nodded and I once again thanked her profusely which only earned a laugh from her before I was ushered by Todd out of the salon.

"What do you want to do now?" He asked, letting go of my wrist to place it on my back.

"Let's go eat some donuts," I suggested, suddenly craving something sweet.

"You're hungry again?" He paused, giving me a bewildered look.

"Hey! I didn't get anything sweet earlier and besides, sitting for almost two hours could be tiresome too!" I defended, a blush on my face.

Todd raised his hands in surrender,"That wasn't an insult. I'm hungry too, let's go feed our monsters." He said, a smile forming on his lips.

We walked for a few minutes, looking around for a donut shop. When I saw the sign, I grew excited and took a hold of Todd's wrist before dragging him inside the Krispy Kreme.

I felt my stomach grumble, my senses getting a hold of the deliciousness wafting in the air. Thankfully, there wasn't much of a line and we were able to take our order in a few minutes.

"Hi, I'll have an original glazed 4 pack and one frozen caramel latte. What about you Todd?" I asked, turning to look at him.

"I'll have the same but with glazed chocolate cake doughnuts instead," He answered, taking out his wallet.

I turned to the cashier and handed him my money before Todd could. The guy gave me a polite smile before charging it in and handing me the change.

"I'll just wait over there." I pointed at the empty table, ignoring the playful glare Todd was giving my way.

"Are you sure you can finish this all?" He asked, handing me the box of doughnuts and my latte.

"You think I'd order these if I couldn't?" I rolled my eyes, taking a bite out of the doughnut.

"I admire your appetite. It makes me sad that there are girls who restrict themselves from eating because they're scared to gain weight." Todd said, taking a sip of his cold drink.

I shake my head gently at him."We all have that fear Todd. I guess it's just a different level of fear to others that makes them do that." I clarified, glancing at the guy who passed by us.

"I fucking hate society for that," Todd retorted.

I nodded in agreement."Is Sadie your mom's sister?" I asked, the question slipping into my mind.

"Nope, she's the wife of my mother's brother. You know, Uncle Bob." He corrected, shaking his head.

"I don't know why but his name makes me laugh," I giggled, an apologetic smile gracing my lips.

He chuckled,"What its like to have a police dad? Is he threatening every boy that knocks on your front door?" Todd asked, changing the subject.

I snorted,"My dad's a softie and a nerd underneath his uniform. Alec was the only guy he met so far and now, you." I shrugged, my heart twisting at the flashback of my first date.

"I'm sorry," Todd apologized, seeing the sad expression that briefly casted on my face.

"Hush, I'm fine. What about your dad? What does he do?" I changed the topic before smacking my head at the question when I remembered he, not once, mentioned his dad.

Todd saw my panicked expression and chuckled."I haven't met my dad and I have no plans on finding him. My mom and him broke it off before we were born. I don't exactly know the full details because my mom doesn't like talking about it," He explained, taking a bite on his third doughnut.

I nodded."Are you close with your twin then?" I questioned, taking a huge gulp of my drink.

"Yeah no. Despite being twins, we don't share the close twin bond like others have. We're quite opposite and I'd rather stay away from her." He answered, leaning back slightly to his seat.

"Well, I have a little brother. His name is Theodore like the Alvin and the chipmunks." I giggled, suddenly missing him.

"Oh yeah? That's a cool name. I haven't met him earlier though," Todd pointed out, pulling his beanie off and ruffling his hair.

"He likes to sleep in late. My mom lets him though saying that he needs it to grow taller," I mused out, twirling the straw of my drink.

"I'd like to meet him," Todd declared, a grin on his face.

"He'd love that," I agreed, finishing off my final doughnut.

We decided to finish our drinks before Todd would fetch me home. Before we left though, he bought a dozen of doughnuts for my parents and Theodore which I found extremely sweet.

We were walking towards his car, my eyes glanced down unto my wrist watch before before a sly grin formed on my lips. I turned my gaze to him, my feet trying to keep up with his pace.

"Let me drive your car," I said, feeling excited all of a sudden.

Todd paused."Hmm, that's gonna be a huge progress in our friendship. You're not planning on wrecking my car right?" He joked, looking up from his phone.

I gasped dramatically,"I wouldn't even dare. Come on, I'm taking you somewhere." I said, opening my palm.

He glanced at my open hand and pouting face before he sighed defeatedly. Taking out his car keys, he placed it on my palm.

"One scratch and you'll be dead," He said, pointing a threatening finger at me.

"Aye aye captain," I beamed, making my way towards the driver's side of his sleek red porsche.

Before I could open the door, Todd stopped me. He gave me a cheeky smile, opening the car door for me.

I couldn't help but laugh, entering his car and my ass appreciating how soft his leathered seats was.

I did my seatbelt first before turning the ignition on, feeling excited at the soft rumble of his car. I gripped the steering wheel and waited for Todd to get in the car.

"So, where are you taking me?" Todd asked, looking down as he did his seatbelt.

I backed away from the parking lot and turned to grinned at him who looked up suddenly alarmed.

"It's a secret," I answered, stepping unto the pedal hard.

"Shit!"

"You are forbidden to drive again!" Todd scowled, his curly hair in a rumple mess after the way he was gripping unto it tightly earlier.

"Why? Was that too slow for you?" I teased, my laugh echoing in the car.

"Are you kidding me blue? You freaking drove like a police car was chasing us! Damn it! You're making me lose my masculinity here." Todd glared, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Oh yeah? I think you lost it the moment you started screaming in a whiny voice to slow down." I retort back, earning a glower from him.

"Shut up," He pouted, still glaring at me.

Laughter escaped my lip, not long before Todd joined in and the reminder of his hysterical screaming earlier made us laugh harder.

"What are we doing here?" He asked, glancing at the open space were a few people were scattered and staring at the view.

"We're here to watch the sunset," I answered, unlocking my seatbelt and going out.

I let out a blissfully smile, the sun's warmth casting unto my face. Todd and I took a
seat at the hood of his car enjoying the breathtaking view of the sun saying goodbye for the day.

"This is beautiful," He stared at the view with complete awe.

"I know, this is my favorite place." I revealed, glancing at him with a smile.

"You brought me to your favorite place?" Todd repeated, giving me a surprised look.

"If we're gonna be friends then it should start off with you knowing my favorites," I shrugged, giving him a sly smile.

Besides, he let me drive his car and helped my achieve one of my dream. He deserves to know one of my many secrets that I have.

"I told you we moved around a lot, so I don't have a favorite place," Todd responded, staring ahead with a sad smile.

"Well, this could be your favorite place if you want too?" I offered, glancing at him.

Something flashed in his eyes for a moment before he smiled softly."I'd love that," He beamed, letting out a light chuckle.

I nodded quietly, a smile still on my lips.

Sunsets are truly magnificent. Its another reason why I loved walking, seeing the colors that danced around the sky and surrounds the sun reminded me that tomorrow is another day and another chance to try again.

"Thank your for today Todd. I absolutely had fun," I softly said, the wind gently playing with my hair.

The soft chatter of the people around us grew deaf in my ears as I stared at him. The sun's glow gave Todd's profile an ethereal look.

I couldn't help but feel a sudden rush of gratitude in the big guy above for giving me a new friend.

He gave me a soft smile,"Just remember that I did it because I wanted to blue." He said, turning back to the view.
