I must say it was quite the upgrade from Johns apartment living up above the cafe, not that I wasn't grateful for the shelter, anything was better than living out on the streets again,

But I was a maturing adult woman. Well "maturing" is a little bit of a stretch

But the small homely space seemed to grow smaller with time and cramped so though I was thankful for the space he'd provided me, I realize now that it wasn't quite enough.

With dad in mind, I made a mental note to check in on him as soon as possible to tell him how I've settled in!  feeling a mini headache beginning to form I rolled onto my side and tugged the sheets up under my chin getting comfortable as I let out a quiet sigh and let the darkness embrace me.

-Tony Stark-

"well she's like any other guest, she can turn into a cat, sure, but she's still partly human" Natasha interrupted,

"We should report this to Fury" Clint replied an uneasy glance sliding to me while Natasha glared at him.

"and why would we do that? she's not a threat, Barton, did you see how timid she was? I've dealt with people that have the same emotional struggles, I know for sure that she hasn't got a bad bone in her body!" She snapped.

"I can agree with that, she could make an asset to joining our team, with training and time" I said with a shrug. "What would she do?" Clint asked his brow furrowing, "we could get her to the training room and test her abilities? I'm sure we could teach her something and her cat to human changing abilities could come in handy" Capsicle chimed.

"She's not going to Fury" Loki's voice startled the group, he walked out from behind the counter appearing practically out of nowhere on the 76'th floor of the tower, a good meeting place for the team.

Clint scowled at him as per usual, of course I didn't blame him, Loki was beyond something to despise, no one really enjoyed his presence in the tower so casually walking around as though he were higher and Better than anyone else.

But of course that was just his inflated ego,

"Oh, of course, you would be the one to protest on that, what? you think whatever you say goes? this isn't Assgard" Clint snarled as he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms huffing,

"You truly believe that? let I remind you how easy it was to turn your pathetic self against your team and I can very well do it again" Loki seethed narrowing his emerald eyes dangerously on the archer.

I clenched my jaw and stared at him hard, I knew he couldn't and his threat hung empty but it was still uncomfortable to hear from him, no one was pleased with what he had done in the past. I didn't think he would be either seeming as he failed his objective to rule over us,

but he took pleasure in berating us for nearly failing and allowing him to get so close to the point of destroying most of the city.

But he seemed adamant on not letting Fury even remotely close to Sparrow that peaked my interest,

was it not the other day that he despised her and couldn't stand the sight of the small cat? Now it seemed as though he was ready to protect her, because if he wasn't why would he bother protesting against the idea so adamantly?

After a bit more bickering between the two I decided to step in understanding it was going nowhere,

"Alright reindeer games, calm down we need to tell Fury about her at some point" I confessed and he avoided looking at me clearly taking displeasure in the idea, well not idea, more like a plan.

"No, she's fearful enough as it is" Loki sneered.

I sighed, why has he got to be so stubborn? I opened my mouth to elaborate further on the importance when a cry rang out and FRIDAY alerted me immediately of its origin "Sir there has been a security brea-c-ch-S-Heeeii--ll-d--" She glitched out and I let out a grunt as we all dashed toward the elevator quickly taking it to the floor the one team member was located on that we weren't.

Looking around the penthouse, cushions were strewn about and the door to her room was closed, I strode up the steps but Loki was ahead of me as he grabbed the handle and frantically jiggled it only to receive no entry.

"move" I demanded leaving no room to argue as took out my phone the small laser frying the metal handle clean off before he barged through it, my eyes widened as two shield agents had their backs to us and a small weak cry sounded somewhere in front of them but we couldn't see because they obscured the view.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" I yelled, my voice reaching its peak as the two agents turned with wide eyes, Loki stormed toward them and shoved past them forcefully.

He dropped to his knees and scooped something up while I dealt with the two agents who looked at each other and were now timid with nerves "Sir-the-um- Fury told us to get the girl without a fuss we-"

The other blonde one elbowed the agent next to him, of course, barely passed as trainees, I didn't put it past Fury to throw rookies into the job and get things done efficiently. If one of them was injured or died it would barely make a dent in the team's structure, it was cruel, yes, but his way of thinking was different to mine,

"we weren't supposed to tell him you stupid fuc-"

"It's fine Bern, James, you two can leave" the voice behind us team made us turn toward the man in question, Nick fury,

his dark eye locked onto me and I ground my teeth as the two idiots walked out, "what made you think you could burst into my tower unauthorized and try to take a member of our team?" I tried to keep my voice calmer this time around.

At this, his eye narrowed "you already failed to comply to the agreement we made for new additional members, they go through me first, and you've already breached that by hiding her, there is nothing wrong with taking matters into my own hands seeming as you cant make the right decisions for yourself" his voice was collected,

"you couldn't have confronted us about it? at least Stark? why exactly did you feel the need to corrupt the systems to sneak your men in here?" It was Loki who snarled and I glanced down my features weakening at the unconscious Sparrow in his arms as he cradled her head against him, a new softer side coming from him.

She had a metal collar latched around her throat which made me heavy with worry that it was draining her or doing something to her,

"she's not even a threat, but here you are thinking it was necessary to what? kidnap her?" Natasha stepped forward with an aura of authority to her figure as she glowered at the man I'd thought I could trust with a fair amount of information.

It was clear that it needed to be altered now.

Suddenly my jaw ticked "how did you know we weren't bringing her to you?" When I first ask, at this his singular eye widened a fraction before it narrowed, "why else would it take so long?"

"Unbeknownst to you we were dealing with something" Steve butt in and I nodded, "Now if you'll excuse Loki, he is going with Banner to remove whatever you had put around her neck"

My voice was a void of emotion as I dared Fury to continue on or to step in to stop what was going to happen,

I turned back to Bruce who nodded stiffly and glanced at Loki who stood up carefully holding the limp Sparrow as he stormed past Fury but not without purposefully shoving his shoulder which caused him to stumble back as the god continued onward.

It was time to deal with how things were going here between our agreement.

But after some debate, it came to the point where either she would become an Avenger or would not have full residency here for it was too dangerous to risk her gaining information and then to leak it into the outside world where she wouldn't have anything holding her back.

Though I had faith she wouldn't, people could change. So we shook on it and that was that.

-Loki-

I felt beyond Ill, already was she sickly and thin, she was fragile and was in the process of healing and yet she was forced into dealing with consequences out of her control. Holding her limp form made my heart clench tightly in my chest to the verge of my footsteps stuttering as I tried to keep an even pace.

I had to hold onto her fairly tight but not too tight to keep my hands from visibly shaking in both rage and fear. "Loki?" I blinked out of my daze and up to the scientist who had already stepped out of the elevator that had moved us to his laboratory floor.

I stepped forward and followed him to the metal table swallowing the dryness in my throat at the sight of it again. Laying her down gently on the surface I stepped back and tucked my hands behind my back shakily clasping them in a desperate attempt to gain composure.

I scolded myself, how could I be so beaten up about such an insignificant mortal? she has brought nothing but agitation my way and yet here I am concerned for her?

What would father think of me? a true king does not wallow over one inconsequential mortal like this,

I scowled at the invading thoughts while Banner proceeded to link and press small needles into her veins and I watched his hands make quick work with them. I stepped forward, my hands falling from their position when she woke with a choking gasp and tried to sit up with wide eyes.

I grasped her hand and shook my head "you must calm down, I am here" I quickly attempted to reassure her as her breathing picked up and I could practically hear her heartbeat begging to race when her other hand began to feel at the collar around her neck.

Her other hand tugged from the one in my hand and both of them began tugging as her lips parted and tears glossed in her eyes making me unable to look away from them as the liquid slid down her red cheeks.

"Get it off! Please!" she cried and I tried to pry it off grunting and feeling my own eyes grow glossy at her panic, I'm sorry! I'm trying to help! I yanked from either end of the metal but it refused to budge so without hesitation I drew her into my chest and held her sobbing figure until she stopped shaking.

"Please...I hate it..." her soft voice made me release her as her rimmed eyes glanced up to me with a broken look, the tear stains drying as her eyes began to flutter shut and her head rolled back.

My eyes widened in panic "Sparr-"

"it's only sedative" Banner held up the empty syringe and gave me a pursed-lip look and I bit my inner cheek but nodded slowly laying her back down and tucking a strand of her soft brown hair behind her ear.

He turned away momentarily and dug around before finding some small kind of metal contraption that pied the pieces apart and with a clank and a cringe-worthy screech the metal pieces fell from around her neck.

my thumb brushed over the two small dots that had pierced her skin from little wire attachments as I used an ounce of magic to heal them to avoid scarring on her supple skin.

A/N: I apologise for grammatical errors, also, I think I would kill to have Loki look at me like that-- but Im pretty sure we all would so, ya know, free for all, I'll kill you all--

Jk,
