Chapter Ten: "Joseph 'The Hottie My Ass' Cahill."

"GREAT JOB TODAY guys!" Daisy said, clapping her hands as Eduardo leaned an arm on my shoulder.

I pushed his arm away, walking over to my bag. "Headed somewhere?" Eddie asked me as he sat next to my bag and handed me my Adidas pants.

"Cahill house today." I told him and his eyes widened before he got this stupid look on his face.

"Oh so Lucas time."

"What?"I asked as if I had no idea what he was talking about. For God's sake's everyone here at the studio/dance department of the school knew Liz Cahill chose me to teach her son.

It was weird because I knew the Cahill was kind of not really famous. Everyone or most people knew who they were yet I always thought of them as just another family.

"Hacerse el chivo loco." Eduardo told me in Spanish. I knew Spanish very well as did Eduardo. His father was from Chile while his mother had originated from Argentina. Right now he had mentioned that I was playing dumb.

Ravi groaned. "I actually hate it when you people speak another language in front of me. I speak English people. English! That's all I can speak."

I rolled my eyes, turning to Eduardo. "I'm not. I just know that going there won't be considered Lucas time."

"Lucas time?" Ravi slid over, sitting next to Eddie.

"Sydney likes Lucas Cahill."

I almost groaned. "I don't like him."

"Yes you do."

"Why do you think that?"

"Because you look half annoyed at this conversation but kind of nervously excited because you're about to see him outside of school."

I didn't say another word, I slipped on my sweater over my tank top and hiked my dance bag over my shoulder with my backpack already on. "Bye!"

"Bye!" The boy said in unison as I almost left the room. I looked over to see Isaac watching me and I held in a breath, slipping past the door and quickly closing it.

The showcase was on Saturday and the closer it came the longer our practices were but that led to Isaac trying to coax me into going out with him. It wouldn't be fair. It wouldn't be fair at all. Not even to me but to him. It wasn't like I was actually interested in Isaac but if I went on one date with him it could happen.

I was zipping my sweater up and walking down the front steps of the large school when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I figured it would be my mom who and always wanted to know where I was but it was another number.

I sighed to myself and let the phone continue buzzing until it stopped. As I started to walk down the sidewalk the buzzing happened again. "You." A voice said behind me.

I turned around slowly, feeling uncertain as to why someone said 'you'. Joey Cahill looked down at me with narrowed eyes. I felt a little displeasure just standing in front of him. The strong resemblance between him and Lucas was scary. Of course because they're twins Sydney. I almost slapped myself but fought against it. They were identical and it wasn't just the way that Joey and Lucas had very tiny differences but it was in their aura, there presences and the way they held themselves that made them different one another.

"Do you need something?" I asked him almost timidly, his gaze unwavering.

He kept his brown eyes trained on me. "You're coming to my place right?" I nodded, "Okay you can ride with me."

He walked past me and moved ahead and without even a further decision I had realized that I wasn't even meant to be a choice but followed along. I hiked my backpack and watched as he clicked a button on his car keys and the lights of a shining black Buggati came on. I held in a breath at the beautiful car.

Joey looked back at my face, taking off the blazer he was wearing and just showing his uniform shirt. He looked amused at my expression but no it wasn't amused more like smug. He looked prideful.

Like why?

You didn't buy the car.

You're parents money did...

He gestured for me to enter the car and I carefully grabbed the door handle, not wanting to even touch it in fear of scratching or breaking something in the car. I sat down cautiously, placing my backpack and duffle in my lap as Joey took the place next to me.

He started the car and smoothly drove out of the school parking lot and onto the street. "So why are you coming over to casa de la Cahill?"

"I'm giving Phillip lessons and teaching him some chorography for his recital and kind of performing a dance at Natasha and Ivan's wedding."

I glanced at Joey that were focused on the road flickered at my face. "Why couldn't mum get a professional teacher instead of a student?"

I felt a pang and a rush of anger flow through me but I tried not to look offended. "I d-don't know. How about you ask her?"

Joey didn't say anything as he turned the car left but huffed deliberately. "What's going on with you and my brother?"

That struck me pretty quickly. It wasn't like Lucas and I even knew each other well. I literally met him like two weeks ago. Why the hell does everyone think that I like him? "What do you mean?"

"I heard him last night. When he called you. His door was wide open."

"So you were eavesdropping." I muttered, my knee uncontrollably bouncing up and down.

"Maybe I was maybe I wasn't but I know he was talking to you." Then dick why the hell didn't you just admit you were eavesdropping when I asked you straightforward?

"Um okay." I said dismissively, looking out the window at the multiple houses that passed by. Remind me again why the hell I actually agreed to get in this car.

"But the thing is why would he be talking to you?" Hold up.

"Your brother can't talk to people?" I asked Joey sarcastically and he glanced at me, glaring before turning his eyes back in front.

"He can talk Snarky," Joey shot at me and I narrowed my eyes at him. Forget me being nervous all the time. You call me a name and I will get mad. Me being mad or frustrated ended up with me spewing curse words in Spanish. "I just don't understand why he would be talking to you. You don't look very interesting."

I almost retorted at him but fought against it as he continued. "You're not the prettiest girl around. You're socially awkward. All I know is that you're a pretty good dancer. That's all you have going for yourself to be honest."

My jaw dropped. I didn't think I was that interesting. That was my opinion. The only thing interesting about me was that I could dance. I was a competitive dancer but I figured that was at least interesting. I knew I wasn't the prettiest person around that was fine and yes I knew I was at most times socially awkward unless I really knew a person or if that person reminded me of someone I was close with. That was fine.

But for this spoiled brat to have the decency to tell me that to my face was a final straw.

The thing was that I wasn't one for violence and at most times if I ever got into a fight which would only happen on a blue moon then maybe I would get into a very verbal fight with someone because let's face it I have a tendency to swear like a truck driver.

Hold up, did this douche bag just call me snarky? Fucking hell, I thought as I glared my eyes into his head. Joey Cahill was average looking...okay I was lying he was gorgeous. But he was the type of guy that knew he was also good looking too. I was totally fine with a guy knew he was good looking too but he had this type of idea that he was amazing. No it wasn't regular arrogance this was just this annoying fact that he acted like he was better than everyone else. In every way.

I definitely am not going to like Joseph 'the hottie my ass' Cahill.

In the end the only thing I said as we pulled up to the street the Cahill's lived on was "Okay."

Joey raised an eyebrow at my response as he started up the way toward the finished gate. He drove up near a side where a wall with buttons were on it. He didn't click any of the buttons though, instead he pressed into a small blue button by the side and spoke into the speaker com. "Fencer17 is here Bradley."

"Who's the lady inside?" A gravelly voice spoke.

Joey turned his head and looked at me before turning back to the speaker. "That girl that's here to choreograph Phillip."

The doors to the gate opened and Joey drove up the driveway right beside the entrance of the house. I didn't even wait for him to go inside the garage where I'm pretty sure the rest of the beautiful cars were. I got out of there, hiking my backpack on my shoulders and slinging my duffle bag on because I couldn't stand to be near that guy anymore especially if he didn't bother knowing my name. Not like I cared.

I was about to lock the door when I leaned forward and looked at a shocked Joey. "Thanks for the ride." I said dryly, shutting the door.

I walked up the staircase and was about to knock on the door when it swung open. Natasha stood at the threshold, smiling at me. She reached forward and grabbed my duffle bag and reached out for my backpack. "Hey Sydney. If you want to find Phil he's probably at the wall at the side of the house. It sounds weird but trust me just go around there."

I gave Natasha my backpack and she smiled before closing the door as I walked down the staircase, going in the direction she told me. I heard a loud laugh-almost giggle fill the air as I continued walking around the giant house.

When I came into view, Phillip had a paintbrush in his hand and purple paint on his nose and a splash of red paint on his cheek. When he spotted me, he ran over with a grin. "Hey Sydney!"

I smiled at him and was about to respond when I looked up to see a work of art.

Lucas stood on a robotic ladder attached to the side of the house, moving over carefully within the small box like cage without a top keeping him from falling. He wore a sleeveless undershirt and a plaid long sleeve wrapped around the waist of his blue jeans. I watched as he reached up and his slightly toned muscles contracted as he painted the wall with a slight beige. It was hot out. I mean the weather was going down and it was only like 16 degrees Celsius today but that didn't stop the sun from shining against his skin like perfection.

He stopped and looked down from where he was, moving his arm down. He spotted me and I could feel his eyes on me even as he clicked something to make the robotic ladder move down.

When he was on the ground, he got out of the cage thing that was attached from the ladder and walked over to me, putting the paintbrush in some contraption. When he walked over, Phillip had grabbed a paintbrush from the side and swiped his brother with the color blue on his shirt. Lucas playfully glared at his brother before patting him on the shoulder. "Okay go wipe your face and meet Sydney in the ballroom."

Ball room? How big was this house?

Phillip nodded and ran away towards the back of the house where I could see a colorful garden in the distance. I was left alone with Lucas who locked his gaze at me and was wiping his hands on his jeans. "Hey."

"Hi." I said back, putting my hands in my pockets.

He stood beside me, hands on his hips and exhaled slowly. "It's pretty cool isn't it?"

I looked up at what he was talking about and fully examined the wall. I guess this meant that I was in the presence of two works of art.

The wall I was standing in front of was beautiful. It was a colorful spread of different things drawn in great detail. There was a large tree in the middle of it all, the branches were attached to many things like iPods, instruments, books. I noticed a teenage boy singing on stage in one part of the wall, roses on another. Some anime characters were on the bottom and I could see some different sports brands around too. I could see all the quotes too but I was so captivated by the abundant amount of work it must've taken to make this. Damn.

"Y-You made...this?" I turned my head to looked at Lucas.

He nodded, his eyes looking over it as well. "Yeah with Greg and Joey. I'm working on a hockey stick since Greg has decided or more like was forced to participate in this sport." He pointed to the hockey stick up on the corner that was about halfway finished.

"Oh my God." I could help but say as I couldn't stop staring at the wall.

After a couple of moments, I glanced at Lucas to see an amused expression on his face. "Thank you?"

I let out a small breathless laugh and he joined in, his shoulders shaking a bit. "I-I'm sorry but this is amazing."

"Thank you." He said sincerely. He stood in front of me, taking his plaid shirt off his waist and tugging it on. It hung off him loosely but he didn't mind. It complimented his look along with the black beanie on his head and the pencil behind his ear. "Come on, I'll go ahead and show you the ballroom."

I nodded, texting my mom as we went inside the house. I followed Lucas as we entered the house from the front. The second he came in, he was immediately attacked to the ground. "Ah!" He yelled, falling down quickly.

I had jumped back, eyes wide as the person who was now hovering over him was laughing hard. "Never change Luke."

The man got up, still laughing and lending Lucas a hand. Lucas sighed and took it gingerly. "Toby holy shit you've got to stop doing that to me."

The guy-Toby noticed I was there and I took that as a moment to actually look at him. He was tall-then again every single person in this family was tall to me. And like every single person in the family was majorly good looking so was he with sharp blue eyes and brown hair but the expression I knew that was usually on his face was serious. He radiated seriousness in his aura but he put on a smile, reaching out to shake my hand. "I'm Toby, the eldest of the family."

I shook his large hand. "N-Nice to meet you-I'm Sydney."

"Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in Boston?" Lucas said, picking up his beanie from the ground.

"I left one of my textbooks here so I took the jet." They have a jet? Holy shit the accent he has too. The one that Lucas faintly-very faintly had in some of his words thickened in his voice.

"Oh then go back, I'm sure Austin's waiting for you anyway." Lucas took that as the chance to try and push his brother out the door but Toby raised an eyebrow.

"Um...I'm pretty sure Austin is at training right now."

"That doesn't mean you're not the last thing on his mind." Lucas proceeded to try and push his brother again but Toby moved out of his hold.

"I have time. I need to find Ivan anyway we're supposed to get some things for the wedding when I come home next weekend." Toby walked off towards the corridor that led to the living room as Lucas gestured for me to follow him the opposite way.

"That's Tobias- Toby for short. He's getting an engineer degree in Boston and Austin is his boyfriend who's training to become an Olympian."

I nodded in understanding as we continued walking. "Oh."

"Yeah. Are you up for working with Phil?" He asked, looking over as we turned into a hallway.

I nodded. "Y-Yeah, he seems like a great kid."

"He is," Lucas agreed. "Really energetic too."

We continued walking through the large labyrinth of a house until we reached large doors where Natasha was standing, waiting for us. She smiled at me while grabbing the beanie off of Lucas' head quickly to which he rolled his eyes at. "Mr. Cahill made sure to build a small dance room for Phillip with the whole mirrors and everything but for the whole performance thing that would happen in November we thought you'd might want to get a look at where you and Phillip would be performing."

She opened the doors and my eyes widened at the huge room. I took a step, looking at the dangling chandeliers and the lights I knew could make different colors. Phillip was pulling a sock on in the midst of it all, bopping his head to a melody that was playing from the table in the corner.

"Y-You're having your reception here?" I asked Natasha.

She nodded. "Yeah. This room has been used for a lot of things in this room like a prom had been held here too because the school was pretty cheap."

"Did you grow up around here?"

Natasha shook her head. "No I grew up in Manhattan and my Uncle and Aunt live next door so I used to visit every summer. That's how I met Ivan."

I spotted my bags in the corner of the room and slowly walked over to Phillip with Natasha and Lucas. Lucas reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of gum before chewing on a piece. "Where's your future hubby?" Lucas asked Natasha.

"Him and your dad are in New York for a part of his training."

Phillip stood up practically floating on his toes. "Do you guys have a certain song you want us to use for the reception?" I asked Natasha.

She pulled out her phone and scrolled through her song choices. When she played a song that was familiar to my ears, Phillip scrunched up in nose and folded his arms. "I don't want to dance to that. It's disgusting and lovey and mushy and gross."

Lucas stood next to me, his arm nearly touching mine but not quite. "Stop being stubborn Phillip."

"My name is not Phillip- I am Leonardo!" He yelled at his brother.

Lucas didn't seem fazed instead he sighed. "Your name will always be Phillip John Cahill. Suck it up."

Phillip narrowed his eyes at Lucas and they ended up having a staring contest. Lucas bent down to Phillip's height-equaling their level. It was a strangely cute thing I was witnessing.

I looked at Natasha. "Does this always happen?"

"You don't even know. We'll leave you to get to talk to Phillip about everything. Do you have the song?"

I nodded. "Yeah I do."

She smiled and walked away through the doors of the room. I looked back at the boys who were still staring at each other until Phillip blinked. Lucas stood up on his feet, pointing a finger at Phillip. "I win."

Phillip pouted and shoved his brother. "That's not fair! You cheated."

"How did I cheat? I didn't blink, you were the one trying to poke me." Lucas reached out to his brother and started tickling him.

Phillip laughed but slapped Lucas' hands away. "I'll get you back for this."

"How? Your partner in crime is in England."

"There's this thing called video chat duh," I think both Lucas and I were shocked by Phillip's attitude change. "Sam and I are going to get you back and you'll never expect it." I could see the change in his accent when he had said the last sentence.

Lucas stared at his brother for a little bit, chewing on that piece of gum with his mouth closed before nodding. "I'm going over to Devin's then."

Lucas was about to leave when he turned to me. He slowly reached out and grabbed my arm, pulling me at a small distance away from Phillip.
