Gabriel's POV – the morning of his birthday party:

I woke up from the sensations of someone's fingers trailing up and down my bare chest. I pried my eyes open to realise that it was Olivia. She had turned up at my house last night, wanting to "speak to me".

We had an on and off again relationship, it wasn't anything serious, I had made this clear to her on many occasions, but she didn't seem to grasp that concept.

Olivia was gorgeous but far too clingy for her own good, she was obsessed with the idea of becoming my Luna.

I groaned slightly, moving her hands away from my chest as I sat up, my own hands reaching up to clutch my head from the hangover I'm experiencing. The guys had come around last night, having a small celebration for my birthday before the real thing tonight.

I felt Olivia shift, sitting up herself as she went to touch my shoulders. I quickly got up, walking towards my bathroom for a shower. I didn't even turn around when Olivia's voice purred, I could practically see her seductive smile in my mind. "Where are you going, what about a repeat of last night?"

I rolled my eyes at her suggestion, not in the mood for her games. "I have things to do Olivia, just get out of my house." I grumbled irritated, she couldn't grasp that I didn't want her, we were friends with benefits and that was it.

Even then, I only slept with her when I'm drunk. Sober me couldn't stand her, she is power hungry and delusional with her attempts to up her rank completely fertile.

"Don't talk to me like that Gabriel, I'm your future Alpha female." She screamed stubbornly; anger laced deep in her voice. Her tone desperate and deranged.

I turned around; my eyes narrowed on hers. My tone calm and meaningful, each word coming off venomously. "You will never be my Alpha female." I growled, my wolf coming to the surface as he took control, not appreciating the way she had spoken to us.

The only person he wanted as our Alpha female was our mate, his true Luna.

Olivia's face contorted, her shoulders burrowing down from my tone, her wolf shrinking back. Her nose scrunched up, her eyes showing her fury which made no difference to me.

"Get out Olivia, don't make me tell you again."

She huffed, suddenly getting up from her position on the bed before attempting to reach for me. I took a step backwards, snarling at her. "Get out now." I repeated for the last time, my Alpha order slipping through my voice, my eyes completely pitch black.

She practically raced out the door but not without slamming the door shut, I didn't even flinch, it wasn't the first time Olivia behaved like that. I just rolled my eyes once more before heading into the bathroom for a shower.

My wolf's emotions were rolling off me in waves, he despised Olivia, his thoughts dwindling onto his mate. He felt frantic whenever we were around Olivia, he wanted his mate and only his mate.

If I could communicate with him with words, I could imagine him continuously chanting the word, mate. With werewolves your emotions and feelings usually align with your wolf. Your human side is linked to your wolves thinking but occasionally, you didn't always see eye to eye.

Having a mate was one of ours, his anger at my thoughts were overwhelming, he felt murderous and resentful.

I didn't want a mate and that fact was clear for everyone. I enjoyed being single and I didn't want to be held down by anyone.

I was young and I didn't want to have the responsibilities of having not only a mate but a pack to protect.

I shut my wolf out, pushing him down and allowing myself back in control. I grabbed my towel from the rack before drying myself off after having a quick shower.

Feeling the tapping sound in my mind, I open my communication with my Third in Command Eli, feeling his presence within my mind as he tried to contact me through our mind link.

'What do you want Eli? 'I questioned, wondering what the hell he wanted now.

'I've been trying to contact you for the past five minutes.' He began, his voice trailing off. 'So, who has been keeping you busy?' I could practically see his smirk, his teasing smile on his face as he moved his eyebrows up and down.

I mentally rolled my eyes at him, deciding to ignore his aggravating and teasing question. 'Shut up Eli, what did you actually want?'

He laughed at my evasive answer. 'The boys and I are going out to get all the alcohol for tonight. Did you want to come?'

I agreed, telling him to meet me at mine with the rest of the guys within the next five minutes, only to be greeted with a sarcastic joke. 'I don't get how you get so many girls if you're that quick.' He chuckled, making me growl at him before he quickly shut our mind link.

I walked into my closet, grabbing a pair of black jeans and a tight fitted top, heading out of my bedroom and into the kitchen. I had already grabbed my phone from my bedside table, sticking it into my pocket.

The last few months I had been living in the top floor of the pack house since I was getting closer to taking my father's Alpha title.

The top floor had everything I needed, my own living room, kitchen and two bedrooms along with an office.

The third, second and first floor is for our pack members usually young teenagers and adults who would rather live here than in their own home within pack territory. It housed a lot of newly mated wolves.

The first floor was packed with a huge kitchen, games room and plenty of lounging areas. We were nearly done with the renovating of my old childhood house; we were extending the building to make a second pack house since our numbers were growing rapidly.

Walking into my kitchen, I noticed my Second in Command Dan whose eyes were firmly narrowed on Eli.

Unfortunately for Eli, he had his back facing me, his jokes and stupid comments obviously irritating Dan. I shook my head, slightly chucking as I walked around the counter.

"Let's get going." I said as I approached Dan, Eli, and Liam.

We all headed down the stairs of the pack house in the direction of the underground garage which housed my cars along with other assigned wolves. Eli didn't stop grumbling about driving my car and in the end, I gave in allowing him to, unable to stand his whining any longer.

"Eli, will you go faster." Dan gritted through his teeth, he hated slow drivers and Eli knew this, enjoying irritating Dan while he drives purposely slowly.

"That's what she said." Eli smirked, a smug look appearing across his face. Seemingly impressed with his reply as he chuckled at Dan's deadpan expression.

Everyone laughed except for Dan, he just smacks Eli in the back of his head.

"Hey, don't hit the driver." Eli scowled at Dan through the interior mirror. "Especially when he's this good looking." He added, with an arrogant attitude.

Even that comment had my eyes rolling as we drove into the entrance of the liquor store car park. It was owned by a werewolf in my pack, he was an older werewolf who used to be a tracker until he injured his leg during war.

He nodded at me in respect, before selling me the tonics that we had come in to acquire. It was a strong, bitter tasting liquor but the only drink that could get a werewolf drunk, it was only discovered a few years ago. It was laced with heavy medication.

We stocked up, throwing multiple crates of tonic in the trunk of the car. We were completely prepared for tonight's party; It was going to be one of the last times I could properly get drunk since I had just obtained my Alpha title.

The next few hours went by quickly, time seemed to quicken the more I drank. The party started well over 3 hours ago and Eli continued urging me to do more shots, something he always tried to do wanting to beat me in a shot competition.

I was on the second floor, chilling in the living room along with a few of my pack members. We were all drinking and having a laugh, when I heard Oliva's whiney voice repeating my name continuously.

She sounded drunk, her voice higher than usual with a slur. "Gabe, Gabriel, Gabriel."

I turned around, watching as she stumbled into the room, her eyes searching the room for me. I groaned out loud when she spotted me, suddenly making her way towards me. Purposely swinging her hips side to side, dramatically pushing her chest out to get my attention.

She glared heatedly at the girls around me, trying to make a claim on me as she sat down on my lap. I went to grab her, my hands sitting on her hips to push her away only for her to lean into my side, her voice whispering seductively in my ear. "You want me to come over tonight?"

I wasn't interested in her advances and looked in her eyes. "No, Olivia." I replied sternly, I didn't want her to become all emotional especially with how much she had drunk which was why I kept my tone low but serious.

I didn't allow her to response as I stood up, holding her by her hips as I put her down on her feet. Manoeuvring myself away from her quickly, before she could grab me by my hand.

For some reason, my wolf had been on edge for the past few hours, I didn't take full notice of it until I began to walk to the bathroom, down the hall from where I was.

As I exited the bathroom, I suddenly caught a lingering yet alluring scent.

It was enchanting and my wolf was demanding that I follow the scent which led downstairs through the kitchen and into another living room on the first floor, it was the main room where the speakers were blaring out music.

My wolf was on edge, almost in a frenzy in the back of my mind as he began controlling my eyesight, desperately scanning the room, looking for the source that he fiercely craved.

It was then that I saw her.

She was grinning, swaying her hips and laughing with her friends before she suddenly froze, her own eyes looking around the room.

Then our eyes connected, and time stopped, I couldn't see or hear anything other than her. She was beautiful, her long blonde hair in a high ponytail, her face flawless and more gorgeous than I had ever imagined.

My wolf couldn't stop pacing in my mind, insistence that I go towards our mate. His joy and excitement extending to me as I began to walk to her.

I could hear Olivia screaming my name, questioning me on where I was going but I ignored her.

My sole focus and attention on my mate as I headed straight for her.
