I awoke to the sound of bashing on my door "Kyan, get up man! Cade's going to kick your ass if you're late" it was Matt, one of my closest friends in the pack, he was always looking out for me

"He's going to kick my ass anyway" I shouted back at him as I rolled myself over in bed, I could care less if I was late

There was a knock again five minutes later "get up!" This time it was Cade and I knew if I didn't move he'd bust my door down

I threw the covers off like an angry child would, found my sweatpants on the floor and put them on. I looked at myself in the mirror, my black hair hung down in my eyes and I pushed it out of the way not bothering with a comb. My dark green eyes are just like my mothers, I had her nose as well but my build took on more of my dads side, I was fairly built up and stood at 6'3 which was good for intimidating others and especially good when a beta needs to look tough

I decided to leave the shirt off, maybe I could get a reaction out of Electra for a laugh. I opened the door to a pissed off Cade, he took one look at me and scowled "you have twenty minutes to get to the training area, don't be late" he said grumpily before walking away, I guess he's still not over what happened yesterday

I walked downstairs and went straight to the kitchen, there were about ten other pack members siting down, they all looked up at me as I entered the room and then all looked away. Okay so I may have pissed some of them off by yelling at them yesterday. I muttered "morning" to them as I walked passed and some of them said it back

I looked in the cupboard and grabbed out some milo cereal. I took a seat next to Matt who was looking at me with an eyebrow raised "so I heard what happened between you and Cade" he said after a minute, I stayed quiet "apparently it was quite the showdown, I wish I could have been there to see it" he smiled.

I still kept my mouth shut but he pressed on "so what happened between you and his sister, you turn on the charm?" With that question everyone in the room fell silent and I knew they were listening in

I shifted in my seat "nothing happened, it was just a misunderstanding and I would appreciate it if you shut your mouth about it" I said angrily. Everyone in the room went back to their usual chatter and Matt held up his arms in surrender

"Sorry dude, didn't mean to pry just everyone's noticed the tension between you and Cade lately and they want to know what's going on" Matt went back to eating his cereal. When the door opened to the kitchen everyone looked up and saw Electra walk in. She was wearing sweat pants, a sports bra and had her hair up in a pony tail. She must be training with us today

She smiled slightly at everyone as she looked around the room, her eyes landed on mine then they darted lower for a second before she looked away. I noticed her cheeks flush again and I smirked to myself. This is fun

She walked passed everyone and said her good morning before grabbing a bowl of cereal and sitting next to one of the girls in the pack. I finished up mine, washed my bowl and headed outside toward an oval near the house where we always trained. I saw Cade sitting alone on the grass and walked over to him, I know we were having our problems right now but he's still my friend

"Hey" I said rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly, he refused to say anything to me "listen, about yesterday" I paused for a moment trying to find the words "you know I wouldn't do that to her right?" I was talking about Electra

He looked up at me, his face softening "yeah I know, I guess I got out of hand" he laughed. I could already feel the tension easing between us "just remember our deal" he added on for good measure

I nodded, Ah, yes the deal. A deal he and I had made before his sister came back. I promised him I wouldn't pursue Electra like I did with other girls, that I'd not flirt with her or anything along those lines or he'd kick me out of the pack. It didn't mean I couldn't mess with Electra though, her blush was pretty cute and it didn't require touching or flirting with her

Besides, it's not usually me who chases after girls, they approach me, not that he'd know that

Other members of the pack had begun to arrive, they looked over at Cade and myself, whispering and pointing at us. I knew at the moment we were probably the talk of the pack after how we had yelled at each other. I didn't mind though I liked the attention

I noticed Shauna in amongst them and I gave her a grin, she returned one of her own and I knew that after this we'd probably meet up at my room again. Now that Cade's parent's were back I had more time on my hands

Cade called us all together and did a run down of what we would be doing today. Basic hand to hand combat, shifting would be saved for tomorrow. I tried to walk away from Cade and find another partner but he was quick to call "you're with me today, Kyan"

I sighed, I knew I was probably one of the only ones in the pack who could match him in combat but today I didn't want to go back to my room sore. I walked up to him and he swung his fist at my face unexpectedly, I dodged it and tried to get one back but he blocked it

If this is how he wants to play then I can play this game too, swing after swing, dodge after dodge, we'd both only managed to hit each other a couple of times and even then they weren't hits that we could be proud of. He had a strange determination about him today and I was damned if I'd let him get one up on me

We kept training, doing the same things until a cheer shouted out to my left and I looked away. Cade took it as an opportunity to punch me square in the jaw, hard, sending me falling to the ground in a loud thump. The pain would only be there for another hour or so but it still hurt like a bitch.

I rubbed my aching jaw as Cade held out a hand to me, he had a huge grin on his face, I felt like smacking his hand away but I grabbed onto it instead "nice going today Kyan, just remember though that distractions lead to death" Cade said as he walked toward where I had heard the cheer come from

I contemplated attacking him from behind but thought better of it, as much of a smart ass he was being and how much it pissed me off I didn't have a death wish

I was curious as to who was cheering and decided to go investigate. I noticed Shauna and Electra fighting on the ground, both of them locking hold then getting out of it. They were pretty well matched and everyone had stopped fighting to watch them. I had never seen anyone get close to Shauna's ability so I was pretty impressed

Eventually Shauna had Electra pinned to the ground and she gave up. They both shook hands, I could tell Shauna was impressed and Electra looked kind of pissed. She stormed off in the direction of the house and Shauna came to me. Giving people high fives as she approached

I placed an arm around her shoulders "I've never seen anyone get close to beating you before" I teased

She smacked me in the ribs, causing me to flinch as it was right where Cade had hit me with one of his punches "she's pretty good I have to admit, all the training she did at school has really paid off" Shauna said sounding almost proud. She enjoyed training people

I nudged her in the side playfully and she looked at me side on "not today, I've got other plans" she said as if she knew what I was thinking. I sulked and started whimpering and she smacked me on the chest "men..." She sighed loudly

"What?" I mocked, pretending I didn't know what she was talking about "but I'm sore and maybe you can help me?" I smiled

She pulled away from me and grinned "you probably deserved what he did" she sideways glanced at me with a smile on her face

I opened my mouth in shock "No way, I'm an angel" I reached out for her and pulled her closer to me "please come back to the room?" I whimpered

"ugh men!" she sighed, pulling away from me "you all sook until you get what you want" I grinned thinking she had changed her mind "sorry but I really do have other plans" she said as she started walking away, purposely waving her hips in front of me

I groaned, today was going to be an annoying day

It was now twelve and I figured I should go get some lunch. Today wasn't my day for cooking thankfully but it was my day for washing the dishes. I made my way into the lunch room, opening the doors I got a few looks from other pack members

I noticed Electra, sitting in the corner with a group of other females in the pack. I listened in as I started gathering food on my plate and noticed they were all complimenting her on her fighting abilities and asking her to train them. I thought she'd be happy with that but she didn't smile. She just casually shrugged her shoulders and muttered an 'ok'

I had heard that at her training school she had been one of the top in her class, maybe Shauna beating her made her realise that she may have been top at school but here she was only a beginner, even though she did a great job against Shauna

I sat down with Matt again, he was sporting a bruise on his left eye, it looked like he took all the punches in his training "nice shiner" I commented

He raised his eyes from his plate and looked up at me "nice jaw" he smiled, looking down at my bruised jaw

I reach up to touch it and flinched a little from the pain. "Damn he really got me good" I say as I look over to Electra. Her eyes were set on me only for a moment before looking away

I could see Matt watching me curiously from the corner of my eye "don't even think about it, you know what Cade's like and what he'd do to anyone who touches her" he warned

It wasn't what I was concerned about at that moment, Electra should have been happy she almost matched Shauna but instead I had only seen her frown since training. Matt was still watching me "nothing's going to happen between her and I" I say as my eyes land back on my plate

"Good, because you're needed around here" Matt smiles

"Yeah, whatever" I shrug "speaking of being needed, I believe I should start on the dishes" I groan, getting up from my seat. It was one of my most hated jobs but even being beta I had to do some of the household chores

The dishes took a little over an hour and I began to head back to my room. I passed room after room without pausing, that was until I reached a room that I could hear Electra's voice in. I fought with myself but my curious side won and I listened in

"I should have won though, I've had years of training at the top werewolf school in the world" I hear Electra whine

I wasn't sure if she was talking on the phone or if someone else was in the room with her "at least say something" I heard her say grumpily

It was then a second voice started "I don't really know what to say, Shauna is one of the best in the pack" she tried to reason. I had heard the voice before but I didn't remember who it was

"Yeah but I trained with some of the top in the world, I passed with flying colours" Electra grunted

There was a pause for a moment "maybe it was a luck thing, I mean she's trained with Kyan, he's good at getting the upper hand"

At the sound of my name I decided to stop listening, as much as I wanted to know what they were going to say I had snooped enough. I walked toward my room and found a note wedged into the side of my door. It read

Kyan,
We need to discuss something, please meet me in the forest clearing behind the house at 8pm

It wasn't signed by anyone and it had me curious as to who it was. If this person wanted to fight, I'm a tough wolf, I can take care of myself. I ripped the note off my door and stepped inside. I needed a shower
