Tia's POV

I follow Caelum up onto the porch of his lovely  home. "This house is beautiful."

"Thanks," he pauses before unlocking the door. "Before we go in, let's just say my mother has a mouth on her." I give him an confused look, before he says, "If she makes you uncomfortable, just let me know I'll shut her down."

I appreciate how what he's doing for me, but I can't have her stop her normal life because I'm there. "Don't, I'm already intruding into her home, she doesn't need to change for me."

"First, trust me sometimes she scares me, and second don't you ever say you're intruding here, you're welcome anytime."

I am truly dumbfounded at his kindness. "Thank you, you're truly too sweet" I give him a smile.

He unlocks the door and steps inside, I follow. "Mom, I'm home!" I see a petite, older woman who appears about sixty, rush to the door.

She runs up to me and engulfs me into a hug. "Oh my! Oh my! Is this your mate? She's so beautiful! Look at her cheekbones! My grand-babies are going to be gorgeous!"

"Ugh I wish" My wolf mutters, I haven't heard from her since seeing my mate, but we'll talking about that later.

"Uh, I-" I stutter.

"No, mother this is my friend, Tia. She's Darren's mate." He frowns after saying that. His mother looks at me with sorrow.

"I'm so sorry honey, I know he's very stubborn. He's like my own son, I wish I could've steered him differently, but after his mother-" I can tell Darren's mother was a sensitive subject by the way both Caelum and his mother tensed. "He gave up on love."

After hearing that I can't help but feel a wave of sadness come over me. Will Darren ever change his mind?

Caelum notices my discomfort and immediately changes the subject. "Mom, I know we've all had a long day, so we should get some rest, wouldn't you agree?"

"Of course! How rude am I? I should have prepared something for our guest! What must you think of me as a host! Caelum! Why didn't you tell me we were having company?" She smacks her sons chest.

"How about a pot-pie? Trust me they are out of this world!" She offers. It's late, I'm not super hungry, and she really doesn't need to do anything for me.

"Uh I think I'm okay but th-"

"Nonsense! You must be starving! Come on! Sit! Sit! I'll get cooking." She pushes me into the living room. I take a seat on the couch.

Caelum takes a seat across from me as his mother leaves the room. "You know, I hate to say I told you so,"

I let out a giggle "Yeah, yeah, I don't mind your mother is honestly the kindest woman I've ever met."

"She's a handful, but she seems to like you, so I guess that's good." He laughs.

"Did you think that she wouldn't like me?" I fake being offended.

"No, but the last girl I brought in here..." he pauses. "Let's just say it didn't end well."

"What do you mean?" I question. How can anything not end well with this sweet lady?

"She thought the girl was going to use me to get to Darren. Thirty minutes later after a lot of yelling, my mother chased her out of the house with a broom in her hand."

This kills me with laughter. "Why was she really there?" I can barely get out my words without breaking down into laughter.

"We were working on a science project." He says still laughing. When he stops he says, " I mean who would want to get closer to him, when they could have me? Just look at me!"

"I wasn't going to say it, but-" Sky starts.

"Oh shut up Sky!" I shut my would up.

Our laughter is interrupted by Caelum's mother yelling for him. "Caelum! Get your butt in here and help me clean up!"

"Welp, that's my cue." He stands up and head towards the kitchen.

"I can help." I offer assistance because they are doing all this because I'm here. I'm not too special I can't do it myself.

"Oh no, she'd kill me for even letting you ask." When he says this I realize the similarities between our mothers.

"Okay, I'll see you in a few." I grin, and returns it with another one.

"Caelum! Get your ass in here!"

"Sit tight, I'll be right back." He says then rushes to towards the kitchen.

"I could get used to that ass." My wolf hollers.

"Sky! We have a mate!" I'm shocked at my wolf's behavior towards Caelum.

"Who let me remind you, he doesn't want us."  She hits back. I know it's true, but I still have hope.

"What if he comes around?" I try and share my faith with my wolf.

"By the looks from Caelum and his mother, I doubt it, plus there's no denying that he is h-o-t, HOT." My wolf is so crazy!

"Maybe you're right but Caelum has a mate out there. He deserves to be happy with her."  I explain to my mate.

"Whatever you say Tia."  My wolf gives up.
