Light music played in the background as people clinked glasses of wine together and laughed in their fancy clothes. I felt slightly awkward in this environment. I tattered on my feet awkwardly in my converse as I looked around.

Greyson's thumb ran over the back of my hand as he held it. A part of me wanted to rip my hand out of his. I knew I was going against everything he ever wanted. I was just charging into my own suicide, but I didn't care.

My eyes followed from one person to another. They were so oblivious. Although there were so many people to watch, I didn't find the person I wanted to find before he found me.

"You look rather ravishing, darling." Liam's voice rang out. I was startled as I made an abrupt turn to look at him. Greyson gripped my hand even tighter and pulled me closer to him. That was the only thing keeping me from ripping Liam's arms off right now. "Where's that baby brother of your's and his rather dashing mate?"

"Far away from you." I snapped at him. He just rolled his eyes and snatched a drink from a waiter walking by.

"You really think your pack house is far away?" He asked in amused tone as he sipped the drink. I shrugged.

"Far enough. After your little threat, Karissa will never be far enough away from you." He raised his eyebrows and watched me. Then, a laugh escaped his lips.

"I see. Well, enjoy the party." He said as she began walking away, but then stopped. He turned and grinned at me. "Nice dress by the way." And with that, he disappeared into the crowds of partiers.

"I'm gonna kill him." I hissed between clenched teeth. Greyson gave my hand a squeeze.

"He'll kill you first if you try, so no. You're not." He said lowly. I hate when he talked to me like that; like another pack member. He thinks I'll listen.

I jerked my hand out of his and stormed over to an empty table. I already knew Greyson would be following. As I sat down, I scanned the area for Liam. I wonder how quickly I could escape if I threw a fork at the back of his head.

Greyson sat at the table across from me. A worried expression on his face. He knew exactly what was going on.

"Do you know how to listen?" He asked. I crossed my arms and leaned forward.

"I am listening. I'm just not caring." I said lowly as a scanned the area once again. He groaned and sat back in his chair.

"Look at it this way, you kill him here you're getting caught. So, what's the point?" He asked. I narrowed my eyes at him and let out a big breath.

"I hate when you're right." I said angrily as I pretended to act like I had given up. I'd rather Liam and I both dead and Karissa safe than Liam alive and Karissa constantly in danger. "I just want him dead." He gave me a sad smile and reached for my hands from across the table.

"I'll make sure of it, but not now." He said and then stood up. "I'll be back. Going to speak to some of the alphas. Will you be alright?" I nodded sweetly, but with an expression that showed that I was annoyed. From his point of view, he probably thought I was annoyed because he had proved me wrong when in all honesty, I was annoyed because he thought he had so much power over me.

He left the table without another word. I sat there for a moment before standing. I wasn't just going to sit here.

I wandered around the large party hall avoiding Greyson as best as I could. I knew what I wanted to do. Werewolf or not, Liam isn't indestructible. I can kill him even if I must kill my selfie the process. I refuse to have my brother, my best friend, and my mate in danger.

A grin stretched across my face as I spotted a knife by a large uncut cake. Looking around for any nosy assholes who may be spying on me, I quickly snatched the knife and held it against my side. I just prayed that the glinting metal wasn't too noticeable.

My eyes scanned the crowd of posh idiots around me. For a room of highly respected alphas, they really aren't that bright. Maybe they do know I have a knife, but feel bad because I'm simply human. I'll cut them all.

I gripped the knife tighter than before and pushed through the crowd. Never once did I see the idiot I was looking for. I wasn't prepared to give up, but it wasn't actually my decision to stop my hunt.

The knife was snatched from my hand from behind. I gasped and spun around to face an angry Greyson.

"What the fuck is this?" He asked as he held up the knife.

"The murder weapon." I stated simply as I tried to grab it.

"Alex!" His tone was complete anger. His grey eyes got darker as the hand that wasn't holding the knife roughly grabbed my arm.

"Greyson!" I yelled loudly catching the attention of a few people beside us. I yanked my arm out of Greyson's grip as the knife clattered to the ground. I sprinted through the crowd of people to the nearest exit. I slammed my hands on the door and it flew open. It just lead me to another room.

"What?" I yelled as I ran through the dark room. As I was about half way through, my body collided with something. Someone. I was about to yell, but a hand cupped my mouth so I couldn't speak. I let out a high-pitched squeal as I heard the door fly open.

Suddenly, my body was tossed to the floor. My head smashed against the hard floor as I heard a loud bang and a groan. I swiftly pushed myself off of the floor, but instantly regretted it as my head panged and I felt dizzy.

"Grey?" My words were slurred as I tried to take a step forward, but collapsed. My eyelids felt heavy and my limbs felt heavy. I tried so hard to keep my eyes open, but the already dark room seemed to grow even darker as my body relaxed on the cool floor.

It didn't feel like a second later that I quickly opened my eyes, but it must have been hours.

I was sitting in a chair. My hands were tied to the arms of the chair as were my ankles to the legs. I groaned as the ropes rubbed against my aggravated skin. I tried to pull my hands out of the rope, but it was tied to tight.

"Why bother?" Liam's voice whispered in my ear. I jumped and whipped my head to the side. He wasn't there. "Darling." His voice said from the other side. I switched directions and regretted it. I was mere centimeters away from him face.

"Dickhead." I spat and looked away from him.

"I'm not the one who planned murder tonight, but if you want murder then it's better to get my plans over with now I suppose. Saves me time." He said as if he were talking about walking in a park.

Air caught in my throat. I couldn't breathe.

"Where's Karissa?" I rushed out as I looked around. I didn't find her, but found something as equally bad. Greyson was chained to a chair. His wrists looked burned, so I assumed that the chains were silver. Liam just laughed at my question. Then, a small groan escaped Greyson's lips.

"Oh joy." Liam said with fake enthusiasm. He walked over to Greyson and slapped his hand lightly against Greyson's cheek. "Wake up, big boy. Time to really join the party." Greyson's eyes weakly opened. His left eye was black and blue, and his nose had been bleeding.

Greyson spotted me instantly and let out a low growl.

"Don't fucking touch her." He said hoarsely.

"Where's Karissa?" I asked again louder this time with more strength in my voice.

"Home." Liam stated.

"Do you think I'm stupid?" I snapped as I leaned forward. The ropes digging further into my skin.

"Yes." He said as he slowly pulled a knife out of his pocket. He opened the pocket knife and smirked. "If you were smart, you wouldn't have over looked my threat." He said taking a step toward me as he point the knife at my face. Greyson let out a low growl from behind Liam.

"Karissa is safe-"

"I don't need Karissa!" He shouted as he held the knife against my throat. He slowly brought the knife away from me and looked down at it as he ran his finger down the blade. "I need you." My jaw dropped.

"But you said-"

"She's next. Never said Karissa." He pointed out. I clenched my teeth in anger.

"Don't touch her!" Greyson boomed loudly. Pain was evident in his voice as he pulled against the chains.

"Hush mutt!" Liam fired back. Liam's gaze then softened as he focused on me. "It's such a shame. You're so beautiful." He said as he ran the blade down my cheek lightly tracing the scar. "So strong." He said pushing the blade a little hander against my skin. I tried not to show my emotions, but inside I was screaming. "So stupid." He spat as he pushed the blade into my skin and quickly sliced my cheek. I let out a cry as the pain burned my entire cheek.

"Stop!" Greyson growled as he thrashed in the chair.

"You too good to speak?" Liam questioned as he got in my face. "Say something!" He boomed. I flinched away and stared up at the ceiling. It took everything I had not to let the tears fall. Once I was sure my emotions were on track, I looked back at him.

"I only talk to people I like." I said feeling a sense of accomplishment. His face filled with rage as he said one thing.

"Pathetic."

One minute I was breathing air, the next choking. I didn't know if I was supposed to cry or scream, but I couldn't do either. My head felt heavy as I tried to breathe. Nothing was coming in.

Everything that happened was a blur. I heard slurred growls. My vision was in slow motion as I watched Greyson break free from the chain's hold and lunge for Liam. I wanted to help Greyson as his wolf was thrown against the wall, but I couldn't move. Crimson soaked my dress and my eyes refused to stay open.

Colors blotted my vision as so many thoughts and emotions ran through me. I knew exactly what was happening.

"Please! I have a son! He's only three!" The woman pleaded as I stared down at her bloody body.

"Tough." I said twisting her head to the side killing her instantly. I rolled her body into a lake and watched as she sunk. I tried not to look at my fourteen-year old reflection in the water as her body sank. "Pathetic." I muttered.

Fire. I tossed the match into the house and watched as the kerosene covered carpet erupted in flames. People screamed and the only thing I worried about was not getting caught by Gabby. I looked away from my reflection in the window and focused on the burning house. "Pathetic."

Puking the bottle of pills back up into the toilet, I tried to be as quiet as possible. It was only two in the morning and Karissa would kill me if she found me like this. Once my episode was over, I flushed the toilet and shut the lid.

I wandered over to the mirror and stared at my reflection. I had nearly killed myself and the only thing I was scared of was moving in with Greyson in two days.

"Pathetic." I said into the mirror.

Then everything went blank.

Fire spread through my body. I wanted to scream and thrash around in pain, but I couldn't. I couldn't feel anything, but the fire that consumed my body. Another intense feeling hit me starting at my finger tips and toes. It was a cold, empty feeling. I wanted to cry. I wanted someone to help me.

"Mom! Mom!" A little girl ran through the woods crying. "Mom! Help me! They're chasing me!" She ran, but not fast enough as a wolf tackled her into a lake in front of a burning building. As soon as the girl and wolf hit the water, coldness spread over my body.

My body jolted forward as air filled my lungs. Rage fueled my actions as I ripped my hands and feet out of the rope binds. My gaze focused on Liam who stood over Greyson in human form. The scent of Greyson's blood filled the entire room.

I stormed over to Liam at inhumane speed. I tapped on his shoulder. He turned around and stared at me wide-eyed as I sunk my nails into his neck.

"Boo." I said evilly. Without hesitation, I ripped his throat out and watched as he collapsed to the floor. Staring down at his body, I uttered one word before going to get Greyson and haul ass out of here.

"Pathetic."
