"There's not a cake you want me to pop out of, right?" you asked.

When Jimin said he wanted you to come to his bachelor party, you didn't expect him to take you down to the lake. He sat on the dock and stared out on the setting sun, his feet dangling over the edge.

"Not unless you're volunteering." he replied. He patted the spot next to him.

"Not even a little bit."

You sat down next to him while he looked out on the water, the breeze whipping through his hair.

"My parents said they used to sit and watch the sunset when they were dating." Jimin said. "I wanted to do that at least once with someone."

He looked at you, waiting for a reply.

"Well..." you said after a moment. "I suppose that wouldn't be inappropriate."

He leaned in, grinning. "Do you want to make it inappropriate?"

"I will shove you in this lake right now if you don't knock it off."

He laughed and leaned back on his hands. "Sing for me."

"What?"

"Sing for me." he said again. "I want to hear your voice."

You shook your head. "Also not happening."

"No?" he said with a dramatic sigh. "But I wanted to hear music. I guess I'll have to sing then."

Before you could say anything, he started singing.

Like a small piece

Of dust

That floats in the air

If the flying snow is me

I could

Reach you faster

Snowflakes are falling

Getting farther away

I miss you (I miss you)*

The light and airy way he hit each note was mesmerizing. You looked at him, studying the look of his face as he sang. Beyond the flirty, playboy personality was this soft and warm romantic. Someone who believed in love, someone who dreamed of love. Despite all the responsibilities crashing down over his head, Jimin was the type to seek beauty in such small things. That must have been how he kept going.

"Jimin," you said after he was done singing. "Did you also know I was engaged to Jin?"

He hissed through his nose. "Found out about that, did you?"

"What do you think? Should I agree to the marriage?"

Jimin shot his head at you. "You're actually considering it?"

"Not really," you said laughing at his reaction. "I haven't known him – or any of you for that matter – for very long. I just wanted to know your opinion on it."

He leaned his head back to look into the pale pink sky for a moment.

"You'd be good for him," he finally said. "I would like to see him happy. If you ask me, he's been alone too long."

"He doesn't seem miserable."

"Not on the outside," Jimin agreed. "But the weight of a kingdom is hard on him. I hope he finds someone to love him. It's all I hope for any of us, really."

There was something painful in his voice as he said it.

You couldn't give him anything, but you hoped, at least, the sun took its time to set.
