Namjoon was waiting for you in the library. So you walked slowly.

You hadn't been alone with him since that day you caught him with his girlfriend. You still didn't know who it was or how she got there, but you didn't bring it up to anyone. It wasn't your business, and you didn't want to think about what he said about you.

The library was beautiful, though. Books to the ceiling, with two floors to choose from. There were a couple long tables in the middle, and on the far side of the room was a lounging area with a fireplace and a few couches.

Namjoon was sitting at one of the tables, nose buried in the book in front of him. He looked up over the rim of his glasses when he heard you walk in.

Wow. He made glasses look really good.

"You're here." he said, closing his book. "Have a seat."

You sat down in the chair closest to you, which was quite a distance from Namjoon. He scowled.

"Have a seat over here." he corrected.

You came over and sat across from him.

Namjoon ruffled his hair, randomly switching to French while muttering to himself. "I'm not in the mood for this."

"That makes two of us." you responded - in perfect French.

He looked at you, wide-eyed. "You speak French?"

"I speak three different languages," you said, shrugging.

He laughed. You couldn't tell if he was annoyed or impressed, but it didn't really matter. He was getting on your nerves. You wanted to ask why he hated you so much... but then again, you didn't really want to hear the answer.

You sighed. "Can we just get this over with?"

He waved his hand. "As you wish."

You spent a couple hours going over international policies with him. Once you got past the small talk and into the actual material, he was a decent person towards you. It seems that once he got on a good topic, he forgot that he didn't like you, and started treating you as an equal. You even got off topic a couple times to discuss classical literature and poetry. You have to admit – he had good taste in books.

"But Dorian Gray's fiancée committing suicide was the even that showed how numb Dorian had become emotionally because he was obsessed with only pleasurable things." you said, as you discussed The Picture of Dorian Gray.

"He wasn't even able to process tragedy like a regular human being." Namjoon agreed. "Good insight. There was another book that had a similar theme. I can't remember what it is now. Hold on – I know where it's at. I'll get it."

He stood and went to the far end of the library, searching the shelves for the book he had mentioned. While he was looking, you started to page through the pile of books that were on the table between you two.

Halfway through one book, you came across a photo of a beautiful girl. She had a bright face underneath a red sun umbrella, dressed in jeans and a light, flowy shirt. She was very pretty. You couldn't help but notice how nice her hair was ---

You remembered that you had seen that hair before. The body shape was the same too.

It was the girl Namjoon met with in the garden.

Right as you made the realization, the picture was plucked from your fingers. Namjoon looked down on you, his face suddenly cold.

"This," he said, holding the picture up, "is off limits."

He dropped his book on the table next to you. The sound of it hitting the table made you jump. He then sat back in front of you and put the picture in his coat pocket.

"That's your girl, isn't it?" you asked. "What's her name?"

He folded his arms and looked off to the side of the room. "I can't tell you."

"What does she do?"

"Please, let's not talk about this."

"Why not? Isn't she the love of your life?"

"Shh. Stop." he said, standing up and walking towards the opposite side of the room.

You stood and followed him halfway. "Why don't you want to talk about her? Does she embarrass you?"

His face twisted. "Of course she doesn't embarrass me. But there are certain customs –"

"I get that there are customs." you said, giving a rough sigh. "There are arranged marriages, and secrets, and unanswered questions everywhere around here. Would it kill anyone to be straightforward? Is honesty so freaking hard?!"

His eyes fixed on you. "[Y/N]..."

"Is she really that bad? Is she really not that good enough? Do you think she can't handle being a royal like the rest of you jerks?"

"[Y/N]..."

"Does she even have to be a royal? Can't she just be herself?!"

"[Y/N]!" Namjoon said, closing the distance between you.

He hovered over you, looking down in your eyes. You didn't want to look at him, but for some reason, you couldn't look away. He searched your face for a long, breathless moment.

"We're not talking about her anymore, are we?" he said.

Your face burned and your eyes started to well up with tears. You looked down. You didn't want him to see.

He put a finger under your chin and brought your face back up to meet his. "[Y/n], you—"

"Am I interrupting?"

You both turned to see Jungkook lurking in the doorway. You threw your head back and groaned.

"Ugh. What do you want now?" you asked.

He chuckled. "Is that any way to talk to your date for tomorrow night?"

"Date?" Namjoon asked, looking between you.

Jungkook smirked proudly. "Yes. Date. I'm her escort for Jimin's party. She must have been so thrilled that she couldn't even talk about it."

He wrapped a hand around your shoulder. You shrugged it off. "Yeah, something like that."

Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "Um, Jin might –"

"Ah,right, about Jin." Jungkook interrupted. He looked at you. "Jin's awake andcoherent. He wants to see you."
