When the line goes dead, my chest automatically tights up painfully. I attempt taking a deep breath but it makes it worse. It is like I literally can't breath.

Many times I try to redial her number but I get that annoying beeping in return.

"Are you okay Mr. Scenix?" A security guard comes up. He is one that has worked here for a long time and the first one I hired after taking over the company.

"Yeah. I am just trying to get ahold of my girlfriend again. We lost connection." I grit out in a soft whisper, which surprises me.

"Was she safe?"

"Yes, at home anyways." I nod.

"Then try to relax. I am sure you will be able to reach the lady that holds your heart and love." He smiles and pats my shoulder, before going to hand out more water with the other security staff.

Glancing down, I see that he laid a bottle of water in front of me where I sit on the floor. Since it is a shelter room, we honestly lack on anything other than nonparishable foods and blankets. Really this room is empty other than those two different items and is cleaned in here once a month.

That is what I have been feeling for Kelsie though. Love? Could I really have felt it all this time?

When I am with her she consumes everything about me. Then when we are not together she takes up so much of my thoughts that I have to force myself to focus on work. Sleep is about nonexistent unless I am with her. No matter how hard things may be she can make me smile and everything just fades away.

It is like I am slapped across the face. I am in love with Kelsie.

A overwhelming need to tell her comes over me next. Thing is I feel like it needs to be romantic when I tell her and not during some nautral weather event.

Picking up phone back up, I try to dail her number once more and this time it rings.

'Aiden.' Kelsie lets a breath out.

'How are you doing?'

'Better now. I thought something happened there when the phone lost connection.'

'Everthing is okay here, Cookie. I was worried about you though, with you being all alone there. There is never a worry to be concerned how I am though.'

'Yes there is a major concern to worry about you, Aiden.' Kelsie huffs and the phone crackles slightly.

'How does the weather seem to be there?' I literally could slap myself now.

'Oh same strong winds and pretty sure the rain is here. Though still have power currently due to being able to see the alarm clock on the stand across from the bathroom.'

'It is good that it is still on.' I smile lightly.

'You know this tub really sucks though without water in it. Like how is a tub so comfortable full of water but rock hard when empty. Now I like some things rock hard but this is not one of them.' Kelsie sighs.

I let a little chuckle. Even in the times of chaos and not the best by having to be sheltered down, my girl can still make sassy remarks.

'I am going to kiss you so hard once I get to you.' I sigh.

'You better! I'm counting on that one Sir.' Kelsie giggles.

It is rare that she gets a little giggle instead of full out laughing. I love it about her because it's a part of her sass, but it makes her eyes sparkle and narrow slightly with a smile a mile long.

All the things I realize I love about my girl makes my heart flutter.

'What would you do me if you were here other than kiss me?' Her voice takes on a challenging tune.

I glance around and see others on the phone and not in ear shot. As long as I keep a whisper.

'My fingers would be all over you." My voice comes out deeper in a hushed tone.

'Yeah wishing you were here for sure.'

My phone beeps in my ear, which blocks out what I was about to say. Pulling it away I see the weather warning.

'That is a little late.' I mumble.

'The warning is and I hope everyone is safe.' Kelsie sighs.

'I agree with you, Cookie.'

That warning killed the slight fun we were having. Most of it is just to take our minds off the situation.

'It is really picking up more here though. Something is clinking too from the way it sounds.' Kelsie's voice is sounding tense.

'Try to breath. Maybe it is a branch from a tree you're hearing? With those few trees by where the bathroom wall is there.'

'I think you're right.'

The lights in the room flash a few times and a couple of the employees gasp.

'Electricity just went out completely here. Since I been staring at the clock and it is off now.' Keslie huffs.

'Turn the electric candles on, so you're not in the complete dark. The lights just flashes a few times here but we still have power. There is no windows in this room, though.'

'It is good you guys don't there. I can tell the small amount of light coming through the bedroom window that it is pretty dark out. Something that is strange since it is still middle of the day.'

'Can we talk about something fun or calming anyways? I am feeling jittery and absolutely hate being here alone more than ever. Being able to hear your voice is calming but I still need something more.' Kelsie speaks back up before I could reply to her on the darkness she can tell from her safe zone.

'Hmm. When this is over, I want to take you out somewhere nice. Maybe a mini vacation for us.'

'Where would we go?'

'That would be a surprise.' I smile to myself.

Right now it has to be a surprise because I don't even know. This is just coming to me and I now know it is something I would love to do with her.

'Could we do that though? Your work and all. It would be easy for me because I don't have a planned event for another week and a half because of the hurricane done canceled the two we had in advance even though we didn't know it would come sooner.'

'I am positive I can get away. Laken would help make sure that I could also.' I hum.

My mind still reeling. Right now all I got is nothing near water with her being afraid and not knowing how to swim.

Banging comes from over the phone line and it makes my heart pick up speed.

'Kelsie?'

'I don't know what that is!'

As I am fixing to ask more questions she cuts me off.

'My roof! Aiden! My roof is coming up!'

'Hold yourself down in the tub. Put the blanket over you to try and protect yourself.' I get out quickly without yelling like my panic wants me too, because I am not sure if she could hear me with the howling sound the wind is making through the phone with bangs still happening.

'Please let this be over soon! Aiden. I don't want to be here alone.' I can make out Kelsie's cries.

'I'll be there as soon as I can my love. I promise.' My heart starts to break not liking the sounds of her cries and wanting to be there holding her in my arms tight.

'I need to tell you something now, it can't wait any longer, it's something I been wanting to say for a long while now. Aiden, I...'

Kelsie is cut off by her own high pitch scream, before a large crashing sounds through the phone.

Meep. Meep. Meep. Meep.

The line goes dead. My heart stops and my breath catches.
