HAILEY's POV.

I closed the door of my room with a slight thud, I lazily dragged my feet to my bed, getting tired of today's work at school. I dropped my school bag on the bed and removed my blazer from my body and flung it on the bed.

Furthermore, I sighed, packing my hair into a messy bun and jumped on my bed sitting down. Likewise, I am so determined for my presentation tomorrow as I wish to go to Aiden's college, so I will be with him.

Smiling to myself, I slowly unbuttoned my school shirt, throwing it on the floor when I was done, and unzipped my skirt after it as it slipped to the floor.

I hopped into my bathroom to take a warm shower before I settle down and study for the presentation I'll be having tomorrow morning.

A few moments later, I was done showering and put on a simple straight gown and jumped on my bed, laying on it flatly. I stretched my arm to grab my bag and draw it closer to me.

I unzipped my bag and brought out my phone to go through my presentation work on my Google Docs to start memorizing it.

I clicked on the Google document app and scrolled through the numerous documents saved on the application when I noticed I couldn't find the documents for my presentation.

My heart skipped a beat as I breathed heavily.

'Calm down, Hailey! You haven't searched well, it might be there,' My mind helped to relieve my panicked state as I decided to scroll through the documents slowly while I squinted my eyes through the screen of my phone.

'Are my eyes playing me or what?' I thought dreadfully, sitting up straight on my bed as I focused on my phone searching through the application where I saved the documents, but it wasn't there.

This better be a joke! Tomorrow is my presentation and that will boost my marks. So, I'll graduate with good grades and enter Wentworth college.

My feet began to get cold when I realized the documents weren't there again. I dropped my phone on the bed and muttered a prayer hoping it appears back on the application, I picked it up to double-check, but it wasn't there.

'Go to the retrieve box,' My mind suggested as I felt some little hope enter me when I checked the retrieve section, but to my dismay, it wasn't there.

A tear slipped from my face thinking about what to do.

'Ryan!' His name popped into my memory.

'What if he was the one?' I thought doubtfully.

'No, he can't be,' I disagreed as I decided to place a call to him.

His phone rang, but he didn't pick up, I stood up on my feet pacing to and fro, calling him again, but he didn't pick up.

I called him the third time, but still with no effect.

"Ryan, What did you do?" I whispered yelled out of frustration and threw my phone to the bed as it bounce and fell to the ground.

My eyes widened, staring at my dear phone laying helplessly on the floor, 'What have I done?' I told myself frustratingly as I scurried to the floor and picked up my phone, hoping there wasn't a crack on it.

I breathed out with relief when I noticed nothing happened to it.

I decided to calm down again and call Ryan, maybe this time he will pick, but it was the same as it kept entering voicemails.

I sat on the floor, drawing my knees up as I wrapped my arms around myself.

'Brielle! Brielle!!'

'Yes! She has to be with Ryan,' I thought, with another alternative of getting in touch with Ryan.

I scrolled through my contact log and clicked on Brielle's name, waiting for it to ring.

It began ringing, and I bite my lower lips helplessly praying she picks, which she did to my aid.

"Hello!" She chirped with that tiny voice of hers.

"Brielle, is Ryan there with you?" I questioned her immediately standing to my feet.

"No, is anything wrong?" She asked as I placed my palm on my forehead, closing my eyes.

"My presentation!" I breathed out, trying to calm myself.

"I can't find it on my phone, it has been deleted," I cried out.

"Uhm! I think Ryan mixed up everything," She uttered.

"What do you mean by Ryan mixed up everything?" I asked furiously with a frown.

"Ehm! Ry-Ryan--"

"Cut the crap and get straight to the point" I impatiently interrupted her, this was my presentation I was talking about, and she's busying stuttering her gut out.

"Hailey. I'm sorry! We were only catching up with you with the materials, you guys were never on the same team, so, I didn't know," She hanged up while my eyes widened.

'Weren't on the same team?'

'Are they fucking kidding me?' I bawled, we did this together, and she's telling me we were not on the same team.

I slumped on my bed, I should have listened to Waylon, my swimming captain, when he warned me about Ryan and his friend.

I thought everything was cool, with Ryan and me when we started hanging out, so, he was just using me.

'He's such a deceit... a fucking player,' I cried as tears began to drip down my face, realizing I played the fool part again and was played again.

I picked up my phone again and dialed Ryan's number, which got forwarded immediately.

"Fuck you!" I screamed, taking my pillow in anger and throwing it towards the door and sobbed.

RYAN's POV.

I watched my phone go off after Hailey's endless calls, which I refused to pick up.

I stood up annoyingly and wanted to switch off my phone as I approached the table and her message popped in;

'I hate you for this, go fuck yourself in hell!' She wrote as I furrowed my brows and switched off my phone.

"Why do you hate Hailey so much?" Brielle asked timidly as I turned around to shoot her an annoying gaze.

"That's because Ryan has been crushing secretly on his stepsister, and he is jea--"

"Will you shut up?" I fired at Micah, whose big mouth doesn't stay in a place and keeps secret, as I glared at him.

"Okay, bro!" He surrendered with a smirk as I breathed out annoyingly and walked back to my seat.

Brielle stared curiously at me but didn't say anything as she kept mute... She kept on staring at me, boring holes in my inner soul which was so infuriating as I snapped my gaze at her.

"What?" I questioned her annoyingly as she bit her lower lips nervously and played with her fingers anxiously.

"Do you have a crush on your step-sister?" She inquired softly, gazing awkwardly at me, while I furrowed my brows at her and frowned.

"I don't!" I replied firmly, 'I love her, and she's going nowhere, especially to her crazy boyfriend,' I fumed in my mind as I glanced towards Jace who was tapping on the screen of his phone, looking quite uninterested in what we were talking about.

"Okay!" I heard Brielle mutter as I sighed and leaned on my chair.

Hailey will pay for messing up with me in the first place, this is payback for her.

I thought about how she will make a fool out of herself tomorrow and that will end her stupid plans of going to the same college with her boyfriend.

A cruel and mischievous smirk crept on my lips as I thought about how my plan had worked.

'Hailey is fucking Mine and Mine alone, she dares not mess with me,' I smiled devilishly before frustratingly raking my fingers through my Auburn hair.

I imagined how Hailey's expression would be tomorrow when she stands in front of the whole class and the teacher, I didn't even know she would realize so soon, I could see how determined she was on going to her boyfriend's college which ain't ever going to happen not even on my watch.

Everything was going according to my plan and I also thought about how sad she will be, which made me moody.

Honestly, I didn't mean for all this to happen, but she caused it, and it was all her fault for coming into my life in the very first place, so, she should deal with this.

'How am I even going to face her after all this?' I drowned in my thoughts gloomily again, I was supposed to be happy with this but an inner part of me was wallowing in regrets and I felt so heavy-hearted.
