My eyes fluttered open and I was met with a sea of grey. My head felt heavy and my eyes were sore from the tears that I'd cried. I shuffled a little, wincing at strange feeling in my stomach. It didn't burn anymore, or even ache. It just felt heavy.

When I managed to roll over, I was greeted with the sight of Logan, sitting right beside me, his hands wrapped around mine and his eyes focused on the floor. His eyes seemed puffy and were bloodshot, proving he had been crying while I was out.

Slowly, he raised his eyes so they met mine and he gazed down at me with a look I hadn't seen before. His mouth was turned down in a frown yet his eyes were flooded with warmth. Slowly, he raised his hand and rested it on my cheek, brushing his thumb across my skin. "How're you feeling?"

I shrugged and shook my head, my eyes welling with tears. "I don't know," I whispered shakily, swallowing down the lump in my throat.

"Hey," he called, tilting my head up to meet his soft gaze, "just tell me if it still hurts."

I shook my head, clutching his hand tightly in my own. "It doesn't hurt," I whispered, my eyes once again filling with tears, "but the baby Logan..."

His other hand cupped the other side of my face so he was holding my head. "Darling, the doctors think that they might have been able to save it, they tried to explain it to me but I wasn't really listening. The baby could be okay."

I frowned. "What if we were too late?"

He nodded towards the table beside the bed and it was then that I remembered we were in the hospital. "We're going to find out, okay?"

I nodded slowly. "Come on." He slowly lifted me and moved to sit behind me, pulling me back towards him so my back pressed against his hard chest.

He placed his chin on the top of my head and clasped both of my hands in his, stroking my knuckles gently. The nurse appeared in the doorway, smiling over at me. "You're awake," she stated with a smile, "how are you feeling?"

"Okay, I guess," I said, holding Logan's hands tightly in mine.

"Okay, just relax and I will do an ultrasound." She moved my shirt up to reveal my stomach.

I stared at my belly, trying to figure out if it was smaller than before. It was still quite swollen to the point where you could guess I was pregnant, but I was sure it was flatter than yesterday.

Logan kissed the top of my head. "It's going to be okay," he told me. "No matter what happens, its all going to be okay."

I nodded, not having a response. The nurse pressed the cold device to my stomach and I squeezed my eyes closed. "I'm just going to try and find a heartbeat," she told me. I kept my eyes pressed shut, just nodding my head. Logans hold on my hand was painfully tight as we listened to the silence.

A gentle thud suddenly filled the room and I shot up, staring down at the nurse. "That's a heartbeat," I breathed, my own heart hammering in my chest.

She nodded with a smile and I gripped Logan's hand even tighter. "Oh my god," I said, squeezing his hand. "Oh my god Logan."

He chuckled behind me, curling his free hand around my waist and kissing my cheek. "I told you everything would be okay," he said, peppering kisses down my neck, "now let go, you're crushing my hand."

I dropped his hand and leant back against him, leaning up to plant a hard kiss on his lips. "I'm still pregnant," I finally said aloud, a smile forming on my lips.

The nurse held the device over my belly again and another soft thud filled the silence. "Wait... what's that?" I asked her.

"The other one. Congratulations, it's twins," she said.

I tensed, staring down at my belly and listening to the thumping sound. "Oh my god."

"We're having twins," Logan said, a smile forming on his face. "That's amazing."

"I thought twins were supposed to skip a generation," I thought aloud, not quite as thrilled as Logan. I would have two babies inside me for the next 9 months.

"Not always," the nurse simply answered and I frowned.

Logan turned towards me and kissed me. "God, I love you."

"I love you too," I told him, reaching up to pull his head down and connect my lips with his.

"Do you want to see them?" The nurse asked us.

I nodded with excitement, suddenly loosing all my sleepiness. She pulled up a screen and started to reposition a device until a black and white image of a funny looking jelly bean appeared on the screen.

She shifted it again and a second bean appeared just above it. "Those are our babies," I breathed.

I stared at the fuzzy image while the steady beat of one of their hearts echoed around the room. "This first heart beat is at 98bpmwhich is okay, a little low but that's expected after what you've beenthrough," the nurse told me.

I nodded and waited for her to move the device over to the other baby. "This one is a little higher at 106bpm but thats still a little low, nothing to worry about though," she said.

"Thank you," Logan said, sending her a dismissive look. She obviously got the hint and stepped out of the room, leaving Logan and I staring at the screen. "Are you ready to go?"

"Nearly," I whispered.

"You should rest, you've had another difficult day," he said softly, running his hands up and down my arms.

I nodded, leaning back against him. "Thank you," I murmured, allowing my eyes to flutter closed.

"For what?"

"For getting me home. For saving them," I said, looking up to see his smile. I reached my hand up and ran it through his hair, clasping a handful and pulling his head down to meet mine. "I love you."

"I love you too, darling."
