Over the next week or so, Logan's second in command, Sergio, spent a lot of time at the house. After Logan killed Jonesy, his father had threatened war with the mafia. Logan had told me that they wouldn't have stood a chance against him but he didn't want to risk putting our child in the middle of a war.

My pregnancy was kept a secret from everyone except Sergio. I didn't want my father to find out from anyone before I could tell him and Logan didn't want any enemies knowing while things were fragile. Jonesy's father was an important ally to the mafia and the threat of war had everyone on edge.

"Is everything okay?" I asked him once Sergio left, watching as he rubbed the back of his neck.

He nodded, grabbing my hips as soon as I was in reach. "Everything is fine, darling," he said. "How're you?"

I reached up and massaged the back of his neck, smirking when he groaned. He dipped down and pulled my lips between his. Every time he kissed me, my mind went blank, completely overwhelmed with his smell, his taste, his touch.

He pulled away. "I still have a lot to do today," he said with a grumble.

I nodded in understanding. "That's okay," I said, "I actually have plans myself."

He narrowed his eyes and I shifted a little uncomfortably, maintaining eye contact and trying to appear confident. "I'm going to go and visit my dad and my sister," I told him, folding my arms over my chest.

He frowned, raising an eyebrow. "You are?"

I nodded. "I need to tell them I'm pregnant. People are going to start noticing soon and I don't want them to hear from one of the soldiers." He was silent for a while, clearly thinking it over and I rolled my eyes. "I wasn't asking Logan."

He pulled me towards him, burying his face in the crook of my neck. I gasped when his teeth sunk into my flesh. "You better be safe," he grumbled against my skin and I smiled.

"I will be," I told him, "What's going to happen at my own house?"

He frowned. "Alright, I'll have someone drive you and call me when you want me to come and pick you up."

I nodded, reaching up to peck his lips. "Thank you. I'll be back later tonight."

He kissed me one last time before letting me go and when I got outside, there was already a car waiting for me. I slid onto the back seat and tapped my foot nervously as we travelled across town. It had been so long since I'd seen my family and even though I spoke to them often, I missed them so much.

But I couldn't deny that I was worried about their reaction. As far as they knew, Logan had taken me away and was holding me hostage. The last thing they would be expecting is for me to return, pregnant with his child.

When the car pulled up outside, I jumped out, forcing myself to knock the front door before I chickened out and ran away. I waited with baited breath until my sister opened the door, freezing when she caught sight of me. "Mia?" she gasped.

"Ash!" I threw myself into her arms, the smile stretching across my face so widely that it hurt. Tears fell from my eyes when her arms came around me and I squeezed her as tightly as possible. I could feel her tears fall, dampening my shoulder.

"What are you doing here?" she asked. "Are you back for good?"

I hated the disappointment on her face when I shook my head. "No, just visiting," I told her, squeezing her and in mine.

"Oh," she muttered, "well come on, dad's out at the moment but he'll be so glad to see you when he gets back." She smiled, pulling me into the hallway. I was hit with a wave of nostalgia as I looked around my home. It felt almost like a memory. We moved into the living room, sinking onto the sofas and throwing blankets over us.

She talked about college and her friends for a while, telling me about the kids she liked the most. I couldn't help but smile. I'd missed her stories. "Anyway, enough about me," she finally said, waving her arm in dismissal. "How've you been?"

I cleared my throat. "Fine," I told her with a nod, "there is something I need to tell you though."

She looked at me patiently. "What is it?"

I took a long, steady breath, scared that she would be upset. "I'm pregnant," I told her. I figured it was easier to tell her before my father came home. I needed her support while I told him.

"Oh my god," she gasped, eyes wide. She stared past me, her lips twitching as she tried to process what I'd said. "Oh my god. Oh my god, you're pregnant?"

I nodded, biting my lip. "I can't believe you're pregnant. When did- how did, wait, who's the father?"

I took another long, deep breath and avoided her gaze. "Logan," I whispered softly.

I finally dared to look up when she didn't respond and my heart cracked in my chest when I saw tears glittering in her eyes. "Did..." she trailed off and her lip trembled, "did he force you?"

I shook my head. "No, no, Ash, it's not like that, I promise." I took both of her hands in mine. "I chose this," I explained, "well... I didn't exactly choose to get pregnant but I want to be with him. I promise you, I'm safe."

She stared back at me for a moment. "So, you're happy?"

I nodded. "I am. I know you must be confused and it's hard to explain how everything changed but I really hope you can try and understand."

She blinked a few times before nodding. "Do you love him?"

"I do."

She smiled. "As long as you're happy and safe, I'm happy for you."

My eyes welled with tears and I wrapped my arms around her. "You're the best," I whispered, "thank you." She hugged me back just as fiercely. We spent the next couple of hours catching up. It felt good to be able to talk to her. I didn't realise how much I missed sharing everything with her. I'd never kept anything from her before and it felt like a huge relief for her to know about the baby.

"I can't believe I'm going to be an aunt," she said gleefully after I'd told her every detail of my life since we last saw each other. "And you're going to be a mother."

I nodded with a smile. "Do you think dad will be mad?" I asked her.

She bit her lip. "Definitely."

I groaned. "I'm dreading it. He hates Logan and I know Logan isn't exactly a fan of him either." She shot me a sympathetic look before the sound of a car door slamming echoed outside. "Oh no," I muttered, listening to the sound of keys jingling and then the front door opening.

He entered the living room and faltered at the sight of me sprawled across the couch. "Mia?" He breathed, a smile breaking onto his lips, "Mia!" he dropped the file in his hands and lunged forwards, wrapping his arms around me. "Oh my god, I can't believe you're here." He pulled away and glanced around with a frown. "Is Logan here?"

I shook my head. "No, it's just me," I told him.

"He let you go?"

I shook my head. "I'm just visiting."

He frowned, nodding his head. "Well, it's good to see you," he said, forcing a smile onto his lips, "how've you been?"

I smiled and took his hand. "There is something I need to tell you," I said, giving his hand a squeeze.

He nodded as I led him towards the couch, sitting beside him. I took a deep breath and decided to just rip off the band-aid. "I'm pregnant."

He frowned and widened his eyes. "You are?" He breathed, his eyes darting down to my slightly rounded belly.

I nodded, feeling a sense of deja vu wash over me. "I don't understand... I thought you had been with Logan. Who have you been seeing?"

I turned away from his burning gaze, biting my lip until I tasted blood on my tongue. "Logan," I whispered, wincing as I waited for his response.

"What?" He barked, rising from the sofa.

"I know dad, I know," I said, jumping up and grabbing his hand.

"He took you from us, Mia!" He yelled.

"I know," I said, "and he was an ass... he still is half of the time but he is good to me and he took care of me and I love him dad."

He stared at me, horrified. "Mia..."

"He loves me. And I love him. Please understand," I begged, holding his hands in mine and staring up at him.

He sighed and brought my hands to his lips. "I just want you to be safe. As long as you are," he said, "I'm happy."

"I love you," I said, freeing my hands and wrapping them around him.

He smiled and held me against him. "Do you want a drink?" He offered and I nodded.

"Yes please," I said. "Thank you."

He left to go to the kitchen, leaving me a little stunned and Ashley standing, wide eyes and jaw dropped.

"That went better than I thought," she said, dropping onto the sofa beside me.

I laughed. "Yeah, definitely."

"So, how are you doing?" She asked.

"I'm ok, hungrier than usual and I'm showing," I grumbled, placing my hands on my belly.

"You aren't that big, just a little swollen," she assured me.

"Yeah well, thats not the only place thats swelling."

She laughed loudly, biting her lip and shooting me a look when my dad reentered. "Here," he said, passing me a mug of tea.

"Thanks." I took the mug from him and placed it on the table. "So, what have I missed?" I asked, looking between the two of them.

"Not much," my dad said, watching me. "I want to know about you, what's been happening since you left? Obviously things have changed," he said, nodding towards my stomach.

I smiled. "You could say that." I grinned and he mirrored it. "I don't know what to say... I guess when you live with someone for a few months you learn everything about them and I... I fell for him."

Henodded and changed the subject, telling me all about what had happened with hiswork and then Ashley rambled on some more about college and this guy she metwhile we drank our tea. A dull ache formed in my stomach while we chatted, becoming increasingly stronger until I couldn't sit still any longer

"What's wrong?" Ashley asked as I fidgeted on the seat.

"My stomach hurts," I told her, frowning. "I haven't had any morning sickness yet, I swear if thats what this is, I'm going to be pissed."

With a grumble, I rose from my seat, causing sheer agony to ripple through me. I screamed loudly, dropping to the floor as the feeling of my insides being burnt away spread through me. I steadied my breathing, clutching my stomach tightly as the pain bubbled up inside me. "It hurts," I cried.

My dad crouched down in front of me, stroking my hair. "Shhh, it will be ok sweetheart. It will be over soon."

I furrowed my brows, looking up at him through my teary eyes. "What did you do to me?"
