JACEY'S POV

"Possibly white curtains though that feels too simple. We need something fun and chic. I'm sure we'll have little ones running around in no time." Sev chuckles looking away from the designs and into my eyes.

She wasn't Rose but I had to stop comparing everyone to her. It wasn't fair knowing no one would come close.

Sevan was supportive after Rose had left. She made sure I didn't get into any serious trouble. Made sure I stayed being a good brother to Harper. Made sure I stayed somewhat myself.

Also kept me from Janine, the worst influence I could've had.

Sevan's just what I got used to. She's predictable, safe...I'm not the biggest fan of knowing. I like surprises and someone who kept me guessing...Rose.

But in all maybe knowing is good. I don't love Rose anymore.

I really believed I didn't and I don't. I shouldn't have did what I did because now I'm not sure.

I've thought about her so much trying to hate her but I'm afraid it's only done the opposite.

"Speaking of little ones, guess who I ran into today." Sev snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Who?" I clear my throat.

"Well before I tell you..."

Her connection goes in and out, making her hard to hear.

I'm in China doing business and she's in Wyoming visiting family.

"Say that again babe?"

"Rose...I saw...at...store...she's expecting, well 'suspecting' is how she put it. Which is so cute." She chuckles to herself.

"Expecting...like what?"

"You know, a baby." She smiles before it drops. "Wait I'm sorry I hesitated with even saying anything because I didn't want to set you back. You were so devastated and miserable I just- I'm sorry I shouldn't have-."

"Sev calm down it's fine." I nod.

I shield my panic.

"Really?! Ok good because I think she found someone. Well she calls him an old friend but it's not like she's going to be an open book with me..."

Sevan continues talking as I realize what Rose meant.

I run my fingers through my hair standing up from the office chair I sat in.

Rose may be pregnant with my baby...

Damnit!

I should've been more careful.

I got way too comfortable given we'd had sex so many times. It stopped seeming important to use protection.

She's the only one I wouldn't use condoms with.

I try concealing my feelings for her and I want to hate her, I do, I did but I just can't.

I feel as though nothing on this earth is strong enough to keep me away from her. Each other.

"Earth to Jacey King are you there?" She asks.

"Yeah yeah, I'm here. I'll see you soon." I shut my laptop remaining deep in thought.

My private plane landed six o'clock this morning. I'd promised Sevan we'd go browse a couple of home decor stores.

Initially I looked forward to it but with the news, quite frankly I just wanted to get to Rose.

Sevan takes her precious time analyzing each and every couch in the seating area.

"I know I said I wouldn't make you spend but man oh man are you about to be spending." She jokes.

I couldn't find it anywhere in me to laugh so I just smile watching as she enjoyed herself.

My phone rings.

"Hey man, just double checking. That deal with Spor-Ex went through no? The bonuses you and all your boys get will be crazy." Dominic says.

"Not yet Dom it'll be set and stone in a few days." I inform, looking down at my watch.

Seeing it's after noon I get off the phone with Dom, using that as my cue.

"Alright Sev, I've got to go."

"So soon? We're still on for dinner?" She asks kissing my cheek.

"A man of my word. See you later." I leave her making my way straight toward Rose's house.

She still hasn't turned off her location.

She can be so forgetful and so stubborn.

Unless she just wanted me to find her.

But it's not just me who could find her, anyone could.

I ring the doorbell.

No one answers the first time.

I ring it again.

"Kia-." Rose cuts herself off.

Deja vu.

Damn those hazel brown eyes.

"My parents are going to be home any minute." She says.

"Perhaps we should talk somewhere private then." I suggest.

"What's this about?" She stays at the door.

I clench my jaws, not knowing how to say what was the obvious.

"Sev saw you at the store." Is all I could say.

"Ok? And? You know you can't just keep popping up-."

"She told me about the baby. Or at least you're suspecting, I'm sure you have a definite answer now yes?" I ask.

She looks at me dumbfounded, not knowing what to say as her parents pulled up.

"Jacey? Wow look at you!" Mrs. Flores lightly jogs over to me.

"Hi Mrs. Flores, Matt." I nod over at Matt shaking Mrs. Flores' hand.

"Nonsense you're family, give me a hug now." Mrs. Flores takes me by surprise as she pulls me into a hug.

"He was just leaving." Rose interrupts, grabbing her mother's arm.

"Hey man, long time no see." Matt gives me the 'dude hug'.

"You don't want to stay for lunch? I make a mean foot long sandwich and call me Serena." Mrs. Flores points.

"Yes ma'am." I nod.

Seeing how uncomfortable Rose looked and basically feeling she did, I decline Serena's offer.

"No thank you, I actually just came from lunch myself. I do need to speak with Rose if that's ok with you both?"

"Yeah yeah, go right on ahead. We'll be inside, feel free to come in whenever." Serena waves as Matt follows behind her.

He eyes us before closing the front door.

"There's no baby Jacey so it's fine." She nods putting her hands in her pants pockets.

I study her body language.

She looks me in the eye but looks to the left and her eye contact doesn't last long.

She remains confident in her stance.

"You've gotten better at lying." I observed.

"I'm not- look don't you have somewhere to be. I don't have time for this Jacey." She begins walking off but I grab her arm.
"Don't touch me."

"Ok, alright." I raise both my hands in surrender.
"We have to talk about this though."

"There is nothing to talk about. I'm not keeping it." She gasps, covering her mouth. "Jacey we need to be realistic."

I clench my jaws looking at her as the silence lingers for a bit.

"The baby is just as much mine as it is yours. You're not getting rid of them."

"I'm the one who has to carry this baby. I'm the one who has to deliver this baby. In fact, I'd be the only one raising this baby. So don't tell me what I'm going to do." She expresses.

"That's bullshit and you know it. I'd be right there with you the whole time. You're not getting rid of this baby." I hiss.

"Yes I am. I have things I need to be doing. You on the other hand could make several more babies with your wife! I want nothing to do with this, a baby fits nowhere on our agendas." She reasons.

I calm myself down not wanting to upset her any further.

"We've tried getting away from one another and did but now there's no more of that. This child means something." I explain as she shaking her head.

"You know I love you..."
"I left because I knew I'd hold you back alright. And you're doing great, incredible even. Be satisfied with that. I love you so much I let you go." Her voice shaky.

"And I came back."

"What?" She frowns.

"That's the saying, if you love them let them go. If it comes back then it's back to stay." I explain grabbing her hands.

She sighs visibly both overwhelmed and deep in thought.

"Still, I couldn't do that to Sevan. She's really sweet, and probably good for you I-."

"Sevan will understand, she's a dear friend." I cup her face. "Rose." I rest my head on hers as an Escalade pulls up.

"Jacey!" Sevan scolds.
