Aphrodite (aka Diety/Dot)

"Syrus, don't say that! It's just a cute little date." Tulia said blushing while I did her edges.

Syrus, my little brother, had face timed me while I was helping Tulia get ready for the pool party. She had begged for me not to make this a big deal, but I couldn't help but gush when Syrus called and asked where she was going.

"You say that now, then next thing you know you get pulled into one of the bedrooms," Syrus laughed, raising his eyebrows with a knowing look.

I giggled, "It sounds like you're speaking from personal experience Sy."

"A hoe never tells their tales," he shrugged.

I did the last swoop on Tulia's edges before tying down the scarf. Her pink and blonde knotless braids were up in a claw clip, two loose braids framing her face.

"Bestie you look so cute, lemme take pictures," I hurried over to my phone to snap a few off gaurds. Her bikini was pink and she had on a near see through cover up set.

"Dot get the fuck- you look like a proud mother." She laughed, putting a hand over her face.

I snapped a picture of that, ignoring her complaints.

"And is. Ok I'm done now, Syrus what you think?" I went back to facetime.

He diverted his attention to the camera, "Ms. Tulia looks the fuck good! It's giving pink lemonaaade... Bas is her name? Oh she finna' drool, I'm already knowing."

Tulia laughed, "Thank y'all, clowns."

Her phone dinged and I looked at her expectantly. "Bas is outside."

"Ok, stay here! Your edges need to set for like a few more minutes, I'll go open the door." I said, slipping on my fuzzy slides. I closed her door behind me and made my way into the living room.

I stopped at the front door, looking through the peep hole to make sure it was Bas. Once I confirmed, I opened the door, seeing her smile drop.

"Oh, don't you look disappointed," I rolled my eyes.

She chuckled, "Sorry, I just thought it would be Tulia, hey Aphrodite."

"Hey Bas, she'll be down in just a minute. You can come sit, " I opened the door wider to let her in and gestured to the barstools overlooking the kitchen.

I went to the fridge and got me an apple to cut up as Bas took a seat. I watched as she spun around impatiently, messing with her hair.

"So," I started gaining her attention, "how long have you and Tulia known each other?"

She thought a minute before replying, "We've known of each other since classes started, but just met a couple months ago."

I nodded, beginning to cut my apple into even slices, "Did Yuri, Alana, and Megan introduce you?"

She nodded, seeming to reminisce on something. "They found out I had a lil' crush on her, then next week we all of a sudden ran into her."

I almost laughed but held it in because that was most definitely a set up.

"You wanna get with my friend?" I asked her.

Bas answered without hesitation, "Honestly, yes."

"That's cute, I don't know you like that, but I hope it can change if y'all really want something serious with each other." I told her, carefully sitting my apple slices on a plate and throwing away the seeds.

"'Preciate it," she said genuinely.

"But you better be sweet to my best friend, or else you gonna get on my bad side. Next time bring some flowers, she likes tulips."

Ironically.

Bas looked at me and we both burst out laughing, "I'm glad you believe there will be a next time."

Tulia's growing voice gained both of our attention as we calmed down. She made her way out into the living room, so busy adjusting her swimsuit she hadn't looked up. "Diety, your little brother is a fucking clown. I hung up on him."

I watched as Bas took in her figure and smirked.

"You actin' like I don't already know that." I said, waiting for her to look up.

"Tulia," Bas stood up and walked to her, grabbing her hand and making her do a three-sixty. "You look gorgeous."

My best friend definitely wasn't one to blush, but I caught her smiling shyly.

"Thank you Bas, you look good too... like really good." she added.

They leaned onto one another, emitting giggles throughout the front of the apartment. It was so adorable I couldn't help but smile at them.

"Alright, don't y'all have a pool party to get to?" I asked.

They both nodded and I walked them out, opening the door.

"Have fun you two, and bring me back some sweets." I said.

"I'll see if I can, don't miss me too much bestie." Tulia said, kissing me on the cheek.

"A'ight Aphrodite, see you." Bas said her goodbye as well.

I waited until they got in the car safely before closing and locking the door. I was gonna head back to my room so I turned off the lights in the front of the house. My phone was in Tulia's room so I went to recollect it. I picked it up from her vanity and closed the door behind me.

I honestly planned to blast some Muni Long and maybe roll a blunt. I entered my room and turned on my lamp light, which provided some dim illumination. I grabbed my speaker from my drawer and turned it on, giving it a minute so the bluetooth could connect.

Just as I was going to Spotify, I got a text from Sunni that brought a slight smile on my face. She and I had been communicating a lot over the past couple of days. I debated on opening it immediately because I didn't wanna seem eager, but fuck that.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling, I feel like a high schooler with a crush all over again. She had been asking me this everyday now.

I hesitantly pressed the send button. I know she was usually busy but my first appointment was after twelve tomorrow and I wouldn't be free again until the weekend.

The three little dots popped up for a moment before I got a reply.

long time no see. i apologize for the abrupt hiatus i started school back obviously so updates will be slower.

but i hope you all enjoyed this one and i look forward to writing the next chapter soon.
