Upon this forsaken word, the world seemed to stand still for a moment, Seokjin staying frozen in place as he stared at his father. This was not the one he had hoped to encounter.

Jungkook was the first one to overcome the shock.

"Your father is the vice president?! Couldn't you fucking tell us that beforehand?", he snapped at Seokjin, equally horrified to encounter the father of his doll. The man who was responsible for driving Seokjin away from his family because he had chosen someone, Yoongi, from lower status and the one to push his youngest son away, destroying his family on the go.

"I didn't know..." Seokjin's voice came out shaky, being faced with the cause of his nightmares was something he hadn't expected for this eventful day. The elder man, so obviously Seokjin's, Namjoon's and Taehyung's father it was painful to watch, flinched, maybe in guilt or maybe because he saw his son together with Jeon Jungkook, obviously breaking into the room.

Kim Leeyong could only look at his now adult son. He himself had gotten old, creases on his forehead and wrinkles around his eyes yet there was not a single grey hair on his head nor in his beard. Leeyong wanted to say something but before he could, he was forced backwards into the room.

Jungkook ignored the drama between the still frozen Seokjin and the vice president, he was here to save Taehyung and he was going to succeed this mission.

"Where's the president?", the Mafia leader demanded to know, walking inside with one hand casually stuffed in his pocket, rounding the desk and trailing his fingers over the expensive mahogany table. He looked up to the vice president, a smirk tugging on his rosy lips, dark brows furrowed over menacing eyes.

"I'd like to have a talk with him regarding a person dear to me. You must know where he is or otherwise we have to ask you", Jungkook smiled without any friendly intention behind. Eunwoo cocked a gun at Leeyong's head.

But the man could only look at Seokjin, his eldest son. Regret swallowed him whole, because he had been blinded by power he had lost his family, his wife and his children. He only had his job now and he had always wondered how life would play out if he hadn't been selfish.

"My son... you've grown up so handsome...", Leeyong whispered touched and it was his voice to pull Seokjin out of his frozen state. He jerked away with a snarl, motioning his own men to point their guns at the vice president.

"You'll help us find the target list of the current alive doves", Seokjin spat through gritted teeth, looking at his father with hatred, "not that you would care but your nice boss had sent out assassins to kill off Taehyung."

"Taehyung is being hunted?!", Leeyong exclaimed horrified, his face turning white. This was not what he'd expected. This was not good at all, Taehyung shouldn't be on the dove list! This was impossible!

"Why are you acting surprised?! Aren't you happy your youngest disgrace of a son gets removed?", Seokjin asked bitterly, moving around the office in distress while Eunwoo had moved to the desk, sitting down there and pulling out his laptop.

Leeyong flinched in guilt, pain squeezing in his chest. He had never hated his sons, especially not his youngest... he still felt guilty over his outbursts. Taehyung was a dove, yes but that didn't mean...

"I-I didn't know... Seokjin-ah, I know you think of me as a monster because I abandoned my family, but-"

"There's no but!", Seokjin interrupted him fiercely, somehow turning back into his younger version, the one that was so angry with the father who had abandoned his family. Seokjin still remembered the silent cries of his mother during the nights where he couldn't sleep, the horrible fights he had to witness in between them.

Then, the final cut when he fell in love with Yoongi. Their father had told them that he could barely take one exception, a son who was a white Chess Queen but Seokjin wanting to engage with a lower rank, a simple Pawn below their status was enough for the man to push his family away.

He didn't want to dirty his good name so he divorced Sohee and left everything behind. He had been selfish and greedy.

And Seokjin couldn't forgive him that. Ever. Maybe he himself could one day but his father also left Seokjin's younger brothers, the most precious persons in his life. And his mother, his poor, amazing mother who nearly broke apart after the divorce.

Seokjin couldn't forgive Kim Leeyong because of them. His true family. So he took out all of his frustrations on the man who had caused all of them.

"You left us! And now you're the vice president? How fucking fortunate for you, you can finally get rid of Taehyung, you hated him anyways for being a dove!", Seokjin accused the man he grew to hate and his fingers were itching to be laid around his gun, feeling the cool metal in his hand press to the trigger.

But he held himself back. He was better than this, better than his father to be consumed by primal desires.

"I never hated him, nor did I ever hate you or Namjoon... or Sohee. I wasn't made to be hiding, you should know that the best. I don't expect you to understand or forgive me", Leeyong said, he knew he had lost the right to return to his family or stay in the lives of his sons. He had given that up when he chose his career over them.

But he never wanted to harm his children. He had never revealed Taehyung's identity to anyone and had kept his son a secret, knowing exceptions were killed in this brutal society where perfection was pursued everywhere.

Yet his son was in danger, his life was at risk. Taehyung was still his son. Leeyong would do anything to redeem his past mistakes, even if he could only play a minimal role in the saving of his youngest child.

"What I did is unforgivable. But I can try to redeem my mistakes by helping you."

To everyone's surprise, Leeyong pushed Eunwoo away from the computer, offering them his own log-in information before moving aside, staring sadly at his son who didn't bother to spare him one glance or thank him. Leeyong understood. It was the least he could do, the last thing he could do for his family.

By saving Taehyung from being targeted, Leeyong hoped to earn at least a bit of forgiveness even though he didn't expect any.

And he didn't get any.

After Taehyung's name on the dove list was deleted and Leeyong had assured them to delete any further traces, their team left. Seokjin spared his father one last glance, swallowing the crude words threatening to spill from his mouth before shaking his head quietly.

No. He was not worth it, Seokjin finally realized. He did the only thing he could, helping to erase Taehyung's record and that was the only role Leeyong would play. The surprising ally was left alone in the office, staring down at his hands while a tear ran down his face.

Jungkook on the other side felt both euphoric and sad, excited yet horrible.

Taehyung's identity got officially hidden again. He was freed from the government threat. He was finally free to choose his future.

It was now Taehyung's decision whether he would chose Jungkook or not.
