I opened my eyes in tears to find the knife laying on the floor, I looked around and saw no one. Tears kept rolling and the knife made me despise myself for thinking selfishly. They needed me to survive and because things got tough for me, I was going to quit. Mina hadn't been talking to me like she did and I guess she didn't want to latch onto someone so unstable. Amanda was now in my camp and I guess she was aloud to stay by the other members but the whole idea killed me.

I sat on the shore for hours, just me and my thoughts until the sun began to rise. When I knew I couldn't kill myself, and I would have to deal with things was when I began to keep everything inside once more. Jason had always told me that emotions were weakness and that we should hide them and though he took those words back, I think he was right the first time. When I got myself together, I snuck into the hut and woke up Mina. When she woke up, she looked at me in confusion.

"Swimming lessons you slacker, let's go!" I whispered and she stared at me, trying to read my emotions before nodding and getting up. We went down to the shore and I got in before she did. We began to use different techniques and then we ended with her swimming while I held back her shoulders to make it feel like she was swimming against a current. I had been watching her closely and she could swim better, but then I saw something in the woods and looked over.

Sage stood at the edge of the woods on the far side of the left and watched me with no expression as I did back to her. We had a stare down before she nodded to me and I glared and nodded back, before looking back to Mina and my heart dropped when I didn't see her. "Mina?" I frantically searched the water and looked around before I heard a laughter behind me and turned back to see her standing in the water, laughing at my panic.

I was angry with her, it was a cruel trick and it wasn't one she should have done. "Were done with lessons for today, go back inside." I said as she looked at me in innocent shock. "What? Why!" She didn't get it and when I didn't answer, she mumbled under her breath and swam away. I got out of the water and walked along the shore to clear my head of all negative thoughts. I couldn't keep living like this, I think that maybe the island had already gotten to Amanda and she was now getting over it; yet, I feel like now it is starting to effect my mind.

I had been walking for a bit when I heard twigs snapping in the trees and stopped. I knew this would end up with me getting attacked and so I slowly headed back to camp, watching the trees. I heard a weird, high-pitched noise and turned to the trees to see what it was and found that something had made contact with my skin.

It hurt badly and I saw a letter attached to the string which was attached to the small arrow that had been launched into me. I quickly pulled the object out of me before looking at it confusingly and taking off the letter. As soon as the letter was released, the arrow was lined back into the woods. I put the note in my pocket, held my wound to slow the bleeding and headed back to the base. I made a small fire and held the knife over it before burning closed the wound.

I heard someone heading down and quickly tied the seaweed over my wound and looking back. Ricky slightly smiled at me and sat down next to me, staring at my wrap. "What happened?" "Nothing I just fell after you were shot." I lied and he nodded, he wouldn't have known what I looked like once he passed out. "Why are you up Mr.? Shouldn't you be resting your arm?" He smirked at me and shook his head before looking away. "Some girl once told me to walk things off and it will be okay." I smirked and nudged him as he laughed and we watched the sunrise.

"Listen..... Jason and Amanda weren't hooking up like we thought." He said and I rolled my eyes. "They left for a couple hours alone in the woods and didn't hook up." I laughed in disbeleif and he looked at me seriously. "They were trying to make you a promise ring." He said and the lies just didn't add up. "So where is the ring and how come it took hours to make?" He had no explanation for that and so we sat quietly for a bit longer. I don't think he believed my lie about my wound, but I didn't need him too. He would stare at it occasionally before he eventually got up and walked up to the people who started coming out.

I heard them speaking and I figured we should probably talk about the next time we go for hunting. Jason, Ricky, Matt, Liz, Amanda, Tiffany, Peter, Crystal, Randy and I were in a group with a couple other guards. I kept Amanda and Jason at the opposite end of the group I was in and I knew Amanda was only in the group because Crystal was.

I was willing to have her hunt with us as long as she stayed with crystal and stayed out of my way. We had enough meat to last a couple days but I felt like we should have enough that we don't have to go into the woods anytime soon. We had been going over groupings and then Jason froze. "I do have one thought to get out regarding new additions and other sorts..." He said and everyone looked confused. "I vote to add Amanda to keep the hunting group high but I also move to remove Naomi for risk of endangerment."

I was in charge of the groups but at that moment various whispers broke out and I couldn't believe that people were even considering removing me from the hunting group. "Its nothing personal Naomi just.... With all of the death threats headed your way and... You know." Anger filled me and I glared at him. "And I know what? Hmmm that people die around me because their leader or should I say OLD leader sent everyone out after me?" I put an emphasis on old and Amanda tried to hide her emotions but I couldn't hold mine in for another second.

I brought out my knife and held it in my hand. "She doesn't even have a knife, what good is she?" I said as glared them down and saw that some looked scared of me. "You need to take a break and get away from the violence and threats, your safer here." "Safer on an island with no escape, but yea I'm safer here." I grumbled and Jason spoke on, aware of my growing anger and despise. "All in vote of keeping Naomi safe by keeping her here and bringing Amanda in on the group?" He slowly raised his hand and not many raised their hands to betray me.

He looked stupid and down that he couldn't overpower my rule. "What weapon would she use?" I said and he shrugged. "You wouldn't need your knife while we're out hunting, so maybe you could share with her." The anger inside of me was too real and what he said had angered me even more. "Naomi your hand." Whispered Tiffany in a worried voice, I looked down and saw that I had been squeezing the blade very tightly and it had cut open my palm. Jason and the others looked worriedly at me but I just tossed the bloody blade to the floor in front of me.

"Here commander." I grumbled before walking off to wherever my feet took me. No one had caught on to my direct shot at Amanda except her and she looked down at the knife as I walked away with a bleeding hand. I couldn't believe that Jason had said that, and also took away my hunting! I grabbed my Pancho and headed for the shore, by "unanimous vote" Amanda was brought in and I was taken out. I didn't want them to go without me but they had already left by the time I looked back.

I was tired of waiting and having worried eyes stare at me, so I decided to do something about it. I headed to the trees and climbed up high enough to jump and snap off thick enough branches for my plans. "Naomi... What are you doing?" Asked Tiffany and I could tell that others were listening in. I didn't respond and she stood watching as I grabbed my ten long and semi wide sticks and held them in my arms as I carried them down to shore. She followed me and it looked like she wanted to say something, but didn't and Mina ran down to watch.

Tiffany sat next to me and placed her hand on my arm. "I know things are difficult and may not seem how they are but please don't shut us out because of it." I looked over at her and then at Mina's worried eyes and huffed. I shook my head and kept working. "I know things you couldn't possibly understand, its all just so messed up." I said, my voice threatening to break loose with tears. She placed her head on my shoulder and gently held my arm. "So explain it to us and let us in." She said before turning my hand to get a better look at it.

I had been bleeding for awhile and she squinted her eyes on thought about how she could stop the bleeding. We ended up putting on ointment and then wrapping left over fabric of someone else's ripped tee shirt from the pile we made to make wraps for the woundeds wounds. I nodded my head in thanks to her before continuing what I had been doing but with a little less trouble. I had been reaching for the other end and struggling to get it as Mina sat down and tied it before handing me the sea weed to go over it twice. She didn't ask me what I was doing but helped me without blinking her eyes or thinking about it.

Tiffany made sure they were kept straight and I was surprised that Liz came down. They had offered her to be a part of the hunting group and I would have thought she would have accepted it. She saw my confusion and smirked. "We're in this together, you are the leader here. Though they help us, I don't take orders from the guards, I take orders from you. And yes I'm currently with one of them, but he doesn't own me and I don't take orders from him either." She huffed and I smiled as she did back and helped Mina, Tiffany, and I finish my plan. I hadn't told them my plan, but they knew not to argue with me.

When it was finished, I smiled at it and looked out to sea. "Oh no, don't you even think about it missy!" Freaked Tiffany and the hunting group had just came back, it was earlier than I usually would come back and only had about five rabbits. Tiffany ran up to help with the food, but Mina and Liz stayed back to hide my raft with me. "Mina run up and grab me a semi thick stick I said and she nodded before running forward. "Wait!" I whispered a bit louder and she froze. "Don't be suspicious."

I said and she nodded, Liz and I covered the makeshift raft with sand and pretended to just be having a normal conversation. Jason kept looking down and we refused to look over as a pat was thrown to Amanda in congratulations for catching her "first rabbit." I highly doubt she caught it herself but I let it go. "I can see there's something up between the two of you, but I fully support you and its probably her fault." Said Liz which made me smile inside but I only gave her a slight smirk.

"So when are we taking this bad boy out?" Smirked Liz and I was shocked that she assumed she was going. Mina had just gotten back and handed me the stick, some eyes had came our way with suspicion and we turned sweetly to Mina. "You job is too distract attention from us." I said and she frowned but Liz spoke up. "That's such a big job, I don't know if she's up to it." Reverse phsycology... Well played. I thought in my head as Mina's face was covered in determination and she huffed. "No I can do it." She said and I nodded, "only if you think your skilled enough."

"Oh I am." She said and glared over at Liz as though she might try and steal the task from her. Mina counted to three quietly to herself before sprinting into the hut and screaming. Everyone ran into the hut and I looked over at Liz. "You can't come with, I won't let sharks attack you like they attacked Ricky. Just help push me forward over the waves and I'll be set." I said and she went to argue but I cut in. "No time to argue, let's go." I said and she nodded as we picked it up and brushed off the raft before heading to the shore. I held onto the side of the raft and walked out with it as Liz came to help.

Mina had stopped screaming and people had started to come out of the hut. "Hey!" Yelled Matt and Liz cursed as we started going out faster. Others came out and started to run for the shore to stop us. "Go, go, go!" Yelled Liz and we ran as fast on the sand as we could in the water. I dove onto the board and felt Liz jump on too. "What are you doing it was supposed to be a solo trip!" I yelled and we paddled out. "Im not staying at shore with those angry people! Besides no man on his own and there's no time to argue as you said!" She laughed and helped me paddle some more.

Matt had tried to swim out and it took several people to hold him back, and Jason was held down as well. It was nice that he still tried for us but his shadyness about being in the woods with Amanda left me unsure if I should trust him or not. "Be careful of sharks." I said and we paddled for our life until we reached the little island. "Finally!" Sighed Liz and we plopped down onto the sand, pulling the board up so that it wouldn't float away and leave us there.

It was just a tiny little island, shaped like a circle and was about 8' by 8' it had a palm tree in the center and the chest was against the tree. We laid on the floor with angry shouts coming from shore but we ignored them. We had probably paddled a mile and our arms were tired. Liz just laughed and sighed. "Matt's so gunna kill me." She laughed and I nodded my head in agreement. I decided to rest by closing my eyes and laying still bit a bit on the sand but then Liz spoke up.

"So honestly, its just you and me here and I would like to know what's up with you and Amanda. I saw how close you guys were in the school and now you don't been hangout with her since you've gotten her back." I sighed and turned to face her. "Its just so complicated and she hasn't told me the total truth." "So whats the total truth?" She asked and I sighed. Did I trust her enough to tell her the truth about Amanda? "Its just us two and I sware I won't judge or do anything, or even tell anyone." She said and I sighed.

"She's done some wrong and I don't know if I can look past it." I said and Liz snorted. "Come on, it shouldn't be that hard unless the girl went and killed someone." She laughed and when I didn't laugh back, she almost chocked on her saliva and sat up. "She killed someone!?" She freaked in a whisper and looked over to the shore before back at me. "Who? When?" I didn't answer and she is a lot smarter than I thought she was.

"She came back with you from the camp and you didn't like her and you called her the Commander when you threw your knife! Oh my goodness it makes so much sense and it was in front of our eyes the entire time. Your not super close to her and Aña keeps Mina away from her and we got Aña from the camp as well. Wow!!!!" She said in exaggeration and I was surprised at how correct she was.

"Okay I'm definitely on your side but we shouldn't tell the others because they will kill her and we don't need any more murderers in our group. But wow... That's low, and then she tried to go for your man, oh I oughta!" She grumbled and I laughed, I was surprised by her mood change towards me and I felt like we could have been close friends if only we talked like this before.

"Okay, we've rested enough and now its time for us to open that chest!" She exclaimed excitedly and shot up, pulling me up with her. We looked to shore and saw that everyone was back to work except for our main crew and Amanda, who had been waiting for us on the shore. We walked over to it and looked at it before looking for the opening. "What do ya thinks inside?" She asked with more enthusiasm than a child in a candy shop. "Not sure, but it must be important if they left it this far away and it took us this long to get to it." I smirked and we squatted to get a better angle of it.

We found the it was locked and shrugged as we reached for our knives. "Dang it! I left my knife when I threw it to the ground at Amanda." I groaned and Liz groaned as well. "Matt has my knife because I left it on shore." She grumbled as we saw him smiling and glared at him. "Fine, we load it into the raft, hold onto the sides, and swim it back." I said and she nodded hesitantly before gulping and looking at the water. I could tell she was afraid of the water and corrected what I had said.

"I will swim, so lay next to it and keep it from falling off." I said and she smiled and nodded before we carried it to the raft and set it on it. "Man that thing is heavy!" Complained Liz as we pushed the raft with all of our might back onto the shore. Others from the base shore watched more intently and kept their eyes on our every move. "Okay. 1....2.....3!" I huffed and Liz laid on it as it began to float and I pushed my legs off of the sand and my arms holding the back of the raft to get us to float with a bit of help back to our shore.

We were halfway there when something bumped the bottom of the raft that caused it to lift into the air a bit. Liz screamed and I looked around us for any sign of movement in the water. I was filled with fear and I wanted nothing less than to crawl into Jason's arms but I was still mad at him for not telling the complete truth. Everyone that had been watching was now on their feet and the ones who were working ran down to shore.

"Don't loose that chest!" I called out to her as I began to kick my legs with all of my might. The waters had been still for a bit so I assumed it was just a wave bump and we began to gain speed towards the shore. My heart was beating so loud that I could practically hear it and my fear was dripping off of me like sweat on a hot summers day. "Paddle with one arm!" I called and she began to paddle with her arm as we got within ten feet of the shore.

I wasn't sure how deep we were but I knew I wanted to feel the sand. No one spoke as all eyes scanned the water and watched us swim back in panic. Liz screamed and shot her arm back onto the raft which caused Matt to run about knee deep into the water. "Matt stay there!" I yelled and called to Liz. "What's wrong?" I said and I felt like she could sense my fear from the way my voice was coming out. "Something touched me!"

She was crying and I tried to swim us back but between her weight, the chest and the raft, me trying to swim us to shore, the current, and the creature in the water, I was having trouble getting us back smoothly. Jason was now as far deep as Matt with Ricky and Peter. I looked around and then something bumped into me that made me loose my grip and drop under the water for a second. I shot back up and gasped for air while Liz screamed for me.

Jason was now in deeper and worriedly looking around with his hands balled into fists. I started to cry as well in fear, though it just seemed like my face was wet and panic surged through me. "Where is it!" I screamed and looked around as I tried to paddle faster. I felt sand and cheered as I pushed the raft towards shore and began to head over. Jason started to walk towards me but froze in fear and tried to run to me. "Naomi look out!" He yelled, but I already felt something hit me in the back and I fell onto it as it turned and swam back into the deeper water. I screamed in fear at the dark grey, shiny, blubbery object I was on and when I saw the fin I practically cried.

"Shark!" I screamed and the other backed
