Jason's POV continued:

I could feel the people catching up to us. I knew it was people by the sound of multiple pairs of twigs snapping. I had learned in training to pick out how many people it sounded like, and I believed that there was at least three chasing me at the moment. I could almost see sand and tried to continue running, but I was getting tired and didn't know what I would even do when we got to the shore. It was obvious the people had some aim, and so it wouldn't be that hard for them to get me out in the open. As I got closer to the shore, I had only heard two pairs of footprints and was wondering what happened to the other the other pairs of tracks. Suddenly, I heard shooting and dove to the floor. I felt so bad when her head hit the floor.

"I'm going to end up killing you before I can even save you!" I was so mad that I had slammed down to the floor and not realised to make sure her head was safe. She could have a concussion or serious brain damage, and it would all be my fualt. I heard a pair of footprints coming and reached for my gun, but realised that I had left it back at the tree when I grabbed her and panicked as the footsteps grew closer. I grabbed out my knife and hid behind a tree next to us, leaving her there for bait in case it was one of our attackers. I felt bad using her for bait, but I needed to make sure we were safe.

I saw the gun and jumped out, but saw it was Derek and froze. I forgot that guy even came with us. "Where have you been!" I exclaimed out of fatigue, and everything else that I was feeling.

"When I saw Jose go down, I thought it was one of you guys that turned on everyone and climbed a tree to hide in case it was a last man standing fight. Then I saw Chad attack Naomi and thought it was him, but then I saw these people and they are so scary. I saw them chasing you, and you were carrying her. I decided to stop being a whimp and help you when I saw it was just the two of the scary men.

I hit the first with a spear, and saw that you left your gun. I was on the schools rifle team for a year and tried to remember what we learned. I missed the first ten shots, but got him eventually. And now I'm here with you two." He said, and I nodded before he handed me my gun and I carried Naomi bridal style. Once on the shore, I saw our base about half mile to our left and we ran for it.

"Keep your eyes on the woods!" I called to him as we ran to base. When we got there, Mina saw Naomi and started crying. Ricky looked pissed as he ran over.

"What happened to you guys?"

"There's people in the woods." Said Derek. He seemed seriously scared, and I nodded.

"And you shot yourself?" Ricky asked me, and I looked at him confused. That's when I saw a bullet in my arm and glared at Derek. "One year man, I'm no pro. I'm sorry!" He called before barfing, and some kids helped him sit down. I carried Naomi into the hut and laid her down. "You should!" I cut him off.

"Shut up already! No one could have known that people other than us or your school mates were in the woods. Or that they had killed Jose, and Chad would blame her for Jose's death by those people. Or even that Chad would try to kill her, and I would have to carry her through the woods while being chased by those people. Or that Sage had put something on the blade to make Naomi sick so they could get her in their preplanned kidnapping goals. They have been watching us dude, who knows who else they have on their side!" I glared, and then got quiet when Mina came in and ran to Naomi.

Ricky got called by someone outside, and he angrily and hesitantly left. "Help her please!" Said Mina, and I saw tears running down her face as she held onto Naomi's motionless hands.

"Go get me some water." I said to her as she nodded and ran out. "If this doesn't work, I'm sorry." I said before cutting her knife gash a little more and trying to suck out whatever was on the blade. When I got some stuff out, I realised that her breathing was getting slower, and quickly kept listening to her heart as Kole ran in. "If you want her to live, help Mina get fresh water and make sure no one comes in here." I said, and he glared before looking at her and nodding. He closed the door to the hut, and I made sure she was flat. I folded my palms as I had been taught back when I was CPR certified and began to pump on her chest. "28, 29, 30." I counted out loud before pinching open her mouth and blowing in, and then repeating.

After three tries, I got frustrated with her failing heart beat and punched her chest. "Come on!" I felt bad, but her heart beat seemed to be coming back and did one last try. "28, 29, 30." And blew into her mouth to get air to her lungs, and she turned and spit up liquids. I caught her head this time, and laid her back down before opening the door to see Kole standing guard, "Did you get the water?" I asked, and he nodded before handing me a canteen. I reclosed the door before he or Mina could look back in. I held her head up a bit, and she seemed so weak. "Drink." I said, and put the canteen to her lips, tilting it up a bit so she could drink.

After her drink, she still seemed sick but for once she generally smiled at me. "Thanks." She said before closing her eyes, and I laid down too.

"No problem." Eventually the kids came in and we all laid down and waited for her to wake up, but I made them go help after a couple hours of her still sleeping.

Naomi's POV:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I had been in darkness after Jason saved me, but then all of my pain came flying back and I shot up. "Ahrrrmmmm" I tried to hold in my noises, and not make to much noise because I saw Jason was asleep next to me and didn't want to disturb him. I felt pain and lifted my shirt to see five tally marks carved into my stomach, the number of people dead so far... And he blamed me for them all. I covered my mouth and emotional pain struck when I started to remember everything that has happened. I heard Jason groan and quickly wipe away my tears and clean my face when he gently grabbed my arm.

I turned and saw that he was bleeding from his arm and avoided eye contact as I rolled up his sleeve. "Naomi."

"Wait, I must get that out." I said shakily, and froze when he put his knife in my hand like nothing.

"It's a bullet." He said, so I carefully and quickly tried to dig it out. When it was out, I burnt the open area and tied it off, but he called my name again. "Naomi." I just kept thinking about the people in the woods, the dead bodies, the body count, Mina and Kole being my responsibility now. I was so tired, but yet I had just woken up and emotions kept swamping on me and drowning my thoughts.

Jason was some what holding himself up, and held my chin, raising my face to look at him. "Come here." He said and held his arm out, which I didn't know if I should take or not. "I'm not going to hurt you, come here, it will make things better." He said, and he slowly wrapped his arm around me, pulling me towards him and eventually I gave in. I laid next to him and laid my head on his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair. "I can't tell you it's all going to be okay, but I can assure you that I will be here all the way until the end." He said, and kissed my forehead as I closed my eyes and put my hands to his chest.

I heard the others come in but didn't care at this point, it was making me feel better, and I kept them closed as everyone laid down for bed. When the door was closed and it was fully dark in the home, I felt Jason slip his arm under me and lay me on top of him. He must think I'm asleep, and I rolled with it because this would be even more awkward if he knew I was awake. I moved to get comfortable, and his hands wrapped around my body in a safe, warm way. He made me feel like everything would be okay. Emotions flew through me as I ignored them and tried to get some sleep, but I held it off when I heard whispering. "You can't have her." Whispered Kole, and Jason laughed which vibrated through me. He doesn't have an ugly laugh.

I thought as I heard other voices. "I'm all for team Jason and Naomi, he's like her superman or spiderman." Whispered Mina, and Jason whispered back.

"I'd rather be superman if this was a thing between me and her, the latest spider man failed to save his girl, and I refuse to let that happen." My heart fluttered at what he said, and I listened in.

"Go to sleep, all of you." Ricky seemed really pissed, and then Derek cut in. "

"Yeah, we all have a lot of work to do tomorrow. I suppose and hope we won't be going into the woods for awhile, so we need our rest. She is hot though." He said, and I was shocked in my head but decided to go to sleep for good.

The next morning:

The next morning, I woke up early to help Mina with her swimming, but couldn't figure how to get out of Jason's arms without him waking up. I tried to move and was sore all over, but I promised Mina swimming lessons and so I was still going to give them to her. I sat up on his chest and slowly stood up, but I was a bit dizzy and fell in the process. Luckily, I fell onto my empty spot. Sadly, I looked up and saw Jason awake and frowning at me. "Go to sleep." I whispered, and he nodded and closed his eyes. I layed back and tapped Mina. She groaned, but when she saw it was me she shot up.

"What's wrong, are you okay?" She whispered in a panic, and I laughed.

"Time to swim." I said, and she shook her head.

"You're not giving up are you?" I asked, and she shook her head again.

"Only when you're better, then we can go out." She said stubbornly, but I was stubborn too and wasn't going to let her give up because of me.

"I'm perfectly fine, see." I said, and wiggled my fingers and toes.

"Fine, but only for a bit." She smiled, and I nodded before I froze.

"Go on down, but please don't even touch the water until I get down there. I just need to stretch." I lied, and she giggled before running down to the shore. I could see her, but she couldn't see me. I got on my knees, and slowly started to try and stand. "You can do it." I said as I put my hands on my knees and tried to push up. I was almost standing and it felt pretty good, but I lost balance and began to fall.

"I gotcha." I felt hands under my arms and looked over my shoulder to see Jason.

"Didn't I say to go back to sleep." I scrunched my face, and he laughed.

"Figured you would need the help after you fell the first time. You never take a sick day, do you?" He joked, and I shook my head no.

"Not here anyways." I said, and his face got serious as he helped me stand all the way.

"Listen, I'm fine. You don't have to help me, go to sleep so you are well rested to work. I will have enough sleep to work as well and-" He cut me off, and shook his head no.

"I'm pretty sure that everyone else agrees that you aren't better, and won't be leaving this hut for a couple days. I am willing to keep my mouth shut and give you some air this time though." He winked, and I nodded and looked out to Mina to make sure she was okay. She had started building a sandcastle and it was a pretty bad one, but I loved it either way.

"Okay... so I can sleep in, but you-" He cut me off once more.

"Have been shot in the arm and will take a couple sick days, besides, someone needs to be watching you. Lord knows what magical ways you can create to escape." He started laughing, and then I realised I was still in his arms.

I quickly jumped to the wall of the hut and held on to the outside to keep my balance. "See, I'm fine. So you can sleep, and I will walk down to the shore." I said, and motioned for him to go back to his spot and sleep.

"Okay, I'll be asleep in three minutes." He winked and laid back down on the floor, putting his hands behind his head and closing his eyes. Oh he looks so hot, ew don't think like that about him!!! Oh my goodness, am I really having an argument with myself right now?? This island is getting to my head!" I thought before turning away quickly to face the shore. Mina had her back turned to me and was collecting rocks along the shore, so I decided to make my move on down to where she was.

I slowly let go of the wall and blew out a quick breath. "You can do this." I whispered once more to myself and balled my hands into fists as I took my first step. "Yes!" I quietly cheered to myself, halfway loosing balance. "Not again." I smiled at myself and ran for the shore as best as I could. I made it halfway and fell face first. Mina looked back, and I waved. "Just stretching my back, be down in a bit!" I yelled, and she nodded before turning back and collecting more rocks. Now how am I supposed to get all the way down to the shore without her noticing my trouble, She'll never swim!! I thought, but then an idea hit me and I put it to action.

I began to crawl to the shore and froze every time she looked, "I'm trying to be a ninja, don't look!" I said, and so she turned around and put her toes in the water, giggling in the process. I still had about ten feet to go, but it was getting harder for me to crawl. I had moved about two times when a shadow casted over me; within seconds, I was lifted up. I felt a hand under me, and my body sat on someone's hip as I was carried to the shore.

"Hey Mina, want to take a picture for me."

"I said go to sleep!!!" I glared, and he laughed as Mina smiled. Jason took a phone out of his pocket, and turned it on. "Try and get a good one, and then give me it so I can turn it back off." He said, and she nodded as he handed her his phone.

"Smile!" She cheered, and I just playfully glared at the phone while he kept me in his arm. "Can I be put down please." I groaned, and he nodded before gently placing me down on the sand.

"So is he joining us until you get better?" She asked,

"No." I said, but at the same time he answered yes. He slid his phone back into his pocket, and sat next to me. "I'm all better, so he doesn't even need to be here now." I said, and she nodded as he winked at her and I glared at him. I had her practice swimming on the sand, but let her and Jason play as long as it was only up to her waist. When the sun was half way up, they got out of the water and headed to me.

"Okay, time to get back before we get caught." Laughed Jason, and Mina nodded.

I went to stand, and Jason threw me over his shoulder. "Hey!" I glared, but Mina covered my mouth and giggled.

"Shhh, we all know your sick so just let him carry you please." I scrunched up my face at her, and she stuck out her tounge before heading in before us. Once I saw she had laid down, I laid down in my spot and gasped when I was pulled to the side.

"Can't let them know we left, have to sleep how we were." He smirked, and I glared before trying to get comfortable. At first I couldn't sleep, and as much as I hate to say it, him running his fingers through my hair did the trick.

I woke up and saw that no one else was in the tent, but I was an awkward situation. I must have fell off of him because half of me was on top of him, and the other half on the side. My one leg was across his chest, and his hand was holding it in place while his other hand was under me and holding me. My hands were in front of me and pressed against his chest, while my head was nuzzled into his side. I tried to move, but I was stuck in his hold and when I did, he yawned and his hand landed on my waist. I tried so hard not to move, but feeling his finger on my skin bothered me, and I needed to move.

He groaned, and I once again regretted moving. His hand wrapped across my hip and held me tight, but it was pretty comfortable. He smells good for living on an island for this long. I really needed to stop thinking about him like this! I was tired of sleeping, and so I did the only respectable thing anyone would do if stuck in this situation. "Jason, Jason, Jason, hey Jason." I said as I continuously poked him in the face. He seemed irritated and kept squirming, but then he groaned. Before I knew it, he was laying on me, and I was squished. "Ja-son." I said between breaths, trying to breath under him as I started snacking his back.

He opened his eyes and gasped at me. "Sorry!" He panicked and sat up, pulling me up with him. I was super cold, and looked around. "You can't possible be cold right now." He looked at me like I was crazy, but I was freezing. "Here." He said as he stripped off his shirt, and put it on me. His abs were my focal point for a moment, he's so hot!! I really need to get him out of my mind. "Wait here." He said, before leaving and closing the door to the home behind him. Whatever they put into me must be leaving my system soon, hopefully. He seemed to be gone for a long time, and I curled up in a ball on the floor to try and keep all of my body in his shirt to keep warm. I heard the door open and close, and within seconds I felt myself being picked and and placed on something. I looked up and saw that Jason was back, and he had put me in his lap. "Whatever they gave you sure seems to have quick acting after effects." He smirked, and I looked up to him shivering.

"N-n-n-n-no kidding." I shivered, and he wrapped his coat around me. I could move now, but I was freezing cold.

"I left this outside, and thought it would keep you warmer." He said and I nodded, cuddling in against his warm chest. He grabbed my ankles, and I looked at him alarmed and confused. "I'm not going to do anything to you, and no one is going to come in and think anything wrong about you." He said and I nodded, carefully watching what he was doing.

He pulled one leg behind him, and turned me to put my other leg behind him and on the other side of him. "This way you can be closer and warmer." He said. I usually wouldn't do that, but it seemed to be working and I needed the heat. I layed my head against his neck and wrapped my arms around him. He slowly did the same and leaned his head against mine. It was warm for awhile, but eventually I put my hands into the coat sleeves and started shivering. I tried to have my hands connected by the two sleeves of the coat, but it wasn't working either. "Here, give me them." He said before sitting up and grabbing my arms to bring my hands back to the front of him.

"W-w-why are you being s-o-o nice to me?" I asked, and he froze.

"For a girl who cares for everyone in the world, why can't someone care for her?" He said and my face flushed, so I looked down and tried not to let him see it. He grabbed my hands and started to rub his hands on them to heat them up.

"Do you have any siblings?" I asked, and he froze, " I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

"Annie." He said, and I looked up at him. "She's my little sister, she would be starting fifth grade pretty soon."

"Is that why you're so good at taking care of people?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"I wasn't good enough to save her." He said, and it felt like everything inside of me broke and I could see the hurt in his eyes. My mouth spoke before I could stop it. "What happened?"

He began rubbing my hands again, and only focusing on them. "It was winter and we had decided to go on a sledding break from cleaning the house. She was only in third grade, so it was my job as her big brother to take care of her. We had gone down a couple of times, and we kept getting further and further with each time going down. Other kids had been there, but it was getting colder and later, so they all went home. But Annie insisted for me to let her go
