Naomi's POV:

I wasn't really sure I could trust Jason after I was attacked. All I remember was getting hit on the head and seeing him when I opened my eyes. A rose was carved into my back, and then I was given a rose by an unknown assailant. Jason has gone on about not showing emotions and since I don't trust him, I need to keep those emotions from showing. The thing that really gets to me is that I was attacked the night that Jason and I had an argument, and everyone else was at camp besides Liz and Matt.

I needed some time on my own, and it killed that three of the kids died. The third kid was fine, but she got sick somehow and sadly passed away. The sister and one other kid were the only survivers of the ocean water issue, we made sure that everyone now owned their own supply of water and that everyone knew how to make their own water if necessary. The little girl didn't talk much, and the other boy stayed around some of the other kids.

"Okay everyone, gather round!" I called, and everyone met me in front of our new building. "This is to be our home, no fighting and don't touch anyone else's stuff. And last but not least for you dirty girls and boys out there, no sex in the building either." I didn't mean to, but my eyes landed on Liz last and she shrunk back with red clear across her cheeks. With that being said, everyone headed inside to claim a spot to sleep. Once that was done, I went back out to start sharpening weapons and get a door on this building. "Naomi, what can you possible be doing now?" Laughed Ricky as everyone else came to join me. "This building needs a door, and we need more weapons." I shrugged, and many eyes went wide when realising that we didn't have a door to our home."

"Here, builders will build the door and hunters will come with me to make weapons." I called, and everyone split up into the two groups. My weapons were coming out very well, but I wanted to try and make different t weapons. I started making things like two sides spears, small ones, and lastly I started making arrows to make a bow and arrow. "You sure are good at making weapons." I looked over to see the little girl who had lost her brother. "Yea well its not that big of an achievement, I could teach you if you'd like." I gave a small smile, and she sat in front of me but said nothing.

I had made several new weapons and eventually she joined in. She studied what I did and tried to make what I was making. I smirked and went at a slower pace so she could understand exactly what to do. When it was done, we put them on my weapons pile, grabbed a new piece of wood, and started all over again. "Your getting pretty good at this." I said, and she nodded before we kept working in silence. Before we knew it, we had the biggest weapon pile on base and she was almost as good as me at making the weapons.

Ricky sat down and the girl left as though she didn't like being around anyone but me. "Did I do something?" He asked, and I shook my head no before excusing myself and walking down to the shore where she sat alone.

"Sweety what's wrong?" She looked over at me, and then back out to sea.

"Do you think Jimmy is in a better place?"

"Of course!!! And now that I think of it, you look really young to be a freshman." She looked up with a tiny smirk.

"I skipped two grades, and got to be in the same grade as Jimmy. He always looked out for me, was always there for me when I needed him." A tear slid down her cheek and I hugged her as she let herself weep a little bit into my shoulder.

"Jimmy will always love you, and I'm sure he's still looking out for you from above." I said, she looked up at me with hope in her eyes while I smiled and let a tear slide down before wiping it off.

"Mina." She said and I looked at her confused. "Jimmy called me Mina." She smiled so I nodded at her , and smiled back.

"Well Mina, let's go get some food into your stomach. It amazed me that this little girl who should have actually been a seventh grader is on this island. Then my heart broke when I realised something. Mina went ahead to get us food and Ricky was next to me.

"What?" He asked and a tear slid down my cheek.

"She is probably only twelve or thirteen years old and they sent her here to die. What about their mother? She doesn't even know where they are or that one of her children is already dead!"

Ricky grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into a hug but warned me that Mina was coming and I wiped my face before returning to face her. We ate our deer meat in silence before checking out how the carpenters were doing on the door. It appeared to be almost done, so I had Mina get them some seaweed. She was about to leave but I pulled her back. "Don't go in deep, if there isn't any at shore, you come get me." I said and she nodded before running down to the shore.

"You two sure are getting close." I looked to my left and saw Jason, and as soon as I looked at him he looked away, kicking a stone in silence.

"What's it to you?" I glared, and watched the door being built.

He put his hands up in surrender and smirked. " I was just saying what I was seeing." He said, and I rolled my eyes at him before looking back at Mina. When my eyes didn't land on her, my heartbeat grew insanely fast and I searched the water for her. I saw a blob and sprinted for the water, while Jason stood their confused as to what I was doing. When I got to shore, I swam out and picked her up. She gasped and clung to me, as I tried to stay above water.

"Mina, calm down so I can get us back to shore or we will both drown!" I called, and she nodded before I helped her so that she was on my back and swam to shore. "What were you doing so far out?" I said, trying to catch my breath as I plopped myself down onto the sand and she did the same.

"I.. Just... Wanted... to be like.. You." My heart broke and I turned my head so I could see her.

"But you can't swim?" I asked, and she shrugged.

"You made it seem easy, I'm sorry." She said, and I grabbed her hand.

"Its fine, just don't do it again." I saw that Ricky, Jason, Peter, Tiffany, Liz, and her hook up buddy Matt had stayed behind. "We are a family, family doesn't leave anyone behind." Said Ricky before helping up Mina, and I picked myself up before Jason could offer me his hand.

We all headed back to what we were doing, but Ricky pulled me aside to talk. "What's up with you, I can see you've been giving Jason the cold shoulder lately." He said and I shrugged

"Don't you find it a little weird that I was attacked the night that I had an argument with him?" I asked, and Ricky's eyes went huge.

"You think he attacked you?" He gasped, and I waited patiently as he tried to make sense of everything. "No, its just not possible. We argued for a bit after you left, so he couldn't have caught up that quickly. Besides, he said he had a really bad feeling when he couldn't see you and ran off to find you to make sure you were okay." I felt so bad after Ricky told me that, and nodded as I put on my poker face. "Just please take that into advice." Said Ricky as I looked over and saw that Jason and Mina were getting along quite well.

I headed back over to her, and Jason left before Mina looked at me. "I don't think he attacked you." She said, and I was surprised that she knew how I felt. I nodded at her with a tiny smirk and I sat down to work when she headed into the building. I was confused but didn't go after her, and kept working without her. When she came back out, she smiled and sat down without saying a word. "Okay?" I laughed and continued to work as she started again.

Eventually the door was finished, and a bunch of guys lifted it up while others began to make the necessary attachments. I smiled that everyone would be sleeping safer and that we can close the door at night. Mina and I seemed to be getting closer, but I also noticed that she got along with Jason as well. Ricky's leg has been getting better, and thankfully that means I can switch Liz out for him in the hunting group. Mina has been by my side since we first talked and I think I'm getting attached, which breaks everything that I have told myself since we arrived here. I was heading back to build more weapons when I noticed I had gained another shadow.

Mina smiled at him, and they sat next to me with a piece of wood each. "Who's your friend?" I asked Mina, and she shrugged before smiling and starting her weapon.

"I'm Kole." He said, and watched Mina make her weapon.

"I'm Naomi."

"Everyone knows your name, you are the leader anyways. Well the only one I trust to be exact." He said, and started to copy what Mina did.

"Okay... Well I know your the only other young kid here besides Mina and Sage, but how old are you?" I asked, and he looked up at me with a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I'll be fifteen in two weeks...I think, I've lost count as far as how many days we've been here." He seemed saddened by it, and I felt bad for him but did the math anyways.

"About 3 days and 4 nights I guess." I said, and he looked up at me.

"Thank you, I have one week." He said, and I nodded before thinking about my birthday, that day will just have to be my secret. I don't need people doing anything for me while were stuck here.

"When's your birthday Mina?" I asked, and she smirked.

"Tomorrow."

"What type of animal shall we eat for your birthday? Any special requests?" I faked a butlers voice and caused them both to smile. Mina giggled and shook her head no.

"I have you to look after me, that's all I need." I smirked at her until she looked down and I held it until kole looked down. My smirk turned into a frown and on the inside I felt like crying.

"Ill be right back." I smiled, before walking into the hut.

No one was inside, so I walked over to where I was to sleep and leaned my head against the wall so try and catch my breath. Tears slid down my cheeks, but I froze when a hand landed on my shoulder "Naomi are you alright?" Crap! The one person I didn't need to see me like this. I turned around to see Jason looking down at me with worry.

"I'm fine." I said before wiping my eyes and trying to move past him.

"Naomi wait." He said, and lightly grabbed my arm. I was going to rip away and walk out, but I wasn't ready to see Mina again.

"What is it Jason?" I asked, and he let go of my arm shortly after I returned to where I was.

"I'm sorry okay, I shouldn't have yelled and gotten smart with you the way I did. I wasn't thinking, and you shouldn't hide your feelings, it's what makes you... you. Everyone needs someone like you, or we'll never live long enough to get off of this island. I should have known you were just trying to be yourself, and I shouldn't have flipped on you."

"You're forgiven." I said, and tried to walk by him once more. Once again he grabbed me.

"Okay, so what's wrong and be honest."

"Nothing."

"Be honest." He said, and blocked me off. Now I was cornered in, and no one seemed to be coming in here until it was night time anyways so we wouldn't be interrupted sadly.

"I- I find it funny how I got attacked the same night we had an argument and when I woke up you were next to me." *99% chance she did not find it funny at all*

"I told you. Ricky is my solid proof that I had a bad feeling, and I went looking for you. I saw a shadow, thought it was you, it ran into the woods, came closer and saw it was you, and helped you until it was light so we could get back without getting easily attacked. Do you honestly think I would do that to you?" He seemed hurt by my judgement, but I wasn't going to lye about thinking it was him.

"I don't know you that well, so yes I would think you did it. Nothing adds up, I just don't know!" My chest hurt, and I felt like exploding. I couldn't breath and everything was just getting to me, this was not the right time for me and him to talk about our trust issues or me being attacked.

"Hey calm down, you're going to hurt yourself." He said, and tried to grab me but I stumbled back a bit and he shot forward to catch me. We ended up sitting on the floor, and my chest hurt badly. His hands were on both sides of my face, but I looked down at the floor to think, which obviously wasn't working. "Look at me Naomi, look at me!" He said, and eventually tilted my head up to look at him in the eyes. It was kind of soothing the way his eyes looked, and he kept making soothing noises. "Just breath." He said, and I nodded as I worked on breathing. Eventually the pain in my chest went away, but a headache was left. Once I was calmer, he smirked and let me sit back on my legs as he leaned back as well. "So tell me what's wrong.... Please?" He studied me, but I was just so tired of fighting and the craziness for a bit "Is it about Mina?" As soon as he said that, I looked up at him and tried to speak but no words came out. "What's wrong with her, is she okay?" He asked and I nodded before finding the words to speak.

"She trusts me with her life when I couldn't even save her brother. She is so sure that I can save her and everyone, but I'm not even sure that I can save myself. People are so dependent on me to get through this, and I don't want their lives to be on me."

"They're not"

"But aren't they? I should have been thinking about our water problems, or food or supplies! And her mother, ooh what about all of the mother's and father's who are probably worried sick about their children who have been missing for three days? What do I tell the parents who's child has died already, or the other half of children that have been separated from us?" Before I knew it, tears were running down my face and Jason was holding me as I cried into his chest. I looked back up at him and his face seemed weakened. "I know you think that crying and pain are weakness, but I think it is power and love." He shook his head and wiped my tears with his hands before helping me up and hugging me once more.

"Naomi, you are something special you know that. I was wrong, you were right. Power is what makes you our leader, and love is what makes you the most fearless and strong. I can see now why everyone is with you in this, and how they can be inspired by you. You won't be alone I swear, you have me, Ricky, and the gang to help you out." He said before we turned and headed out to everyone. It was now dark, and I was surprised that we were in there for so long.

Mina and kole ran over to us and gave me food as Jason left to get his. I saw Ricky and Jason speaking. Maybe I did misjudge him, and he was only trying to help me the entire time. When we were done eating Peter had informed me that we were running out of meat, so I called everyone to a huddle. "Early bed tonight you guys, hunters we leave tomorrow to hunt and carpenters listen up. I need a couple things made from you'se. I need some stretchers, just in case of serious injury, a mini hospital incase people are sick so it doesn't spread, a boat. Once those are done, I'll have more. The stretchers and hospital are top priority, the boat can come after. I will talk to some people personally for special jobs and tasks. Guards, you know what your jobs are. The cooks will cook the remaining meat for those at base until we return."

After my speech, Jason raised his canteen to me, and Ricky winked as I headed into the building. But then I saw something I hadn't earlier that made me smile. Ricky had put up his sign on the building and had my name inscribed onto it. The building was also given a name that was boarded above the building. "Base Naomi." I felt a bit better that they looked up to me and got many smiles as people came in to head to bed. I started to lay down in my spot, but then I realized that my secluded spot was now surrounded. Ricky, Jason, Mina, kole, Liz, Matt, Peter, and tiffany had all surrounded my spot with their things and laid down around me. "Try to get some sleep your highness." Said Ricky, and I rolled my eyes before closing them as I saw the door closing.
