That morning, everyone got up and went straight to work again. Ricky was so set on his sign, that he paid no attention to the girls throwing themselves at him. The guards didn't seem so on edge for once, I think they were actually starting to trust being with us a bit more. Of course Liz was flirting with the one guard rather than doing her work and she was really starting to annoy me. I made a bandana out of the cloth from my jackets jean-like material and kept my hair up in its usual ponytail. I took out my mirror and noticed that my wound was still open, so I headed down to the shore. I really needed clean water, but the oceans water would have to do.

I tried to clean away as much sand and blood from the cut as possible before looking at the anitbiotcis in my pack. I found a cream that was supposed to keep away infections and put that on the cut area. I then put my stuff away, got out my knife, and headed to the edge of the woods.

I looked around at the trees, and went to a tree with thick bark that could be torn off in chunks. "What are you doing?" I turned around to see the same little girl from last night standing just a few feet from me. I hadn't even heard her approach me. "Geez you scared me."

I laughed, and when she didn't laugh back, I felt awkward and continued. "Well, it's just a theory that I'm going to test out." I shrugged, and she nodded as she watched me carefully. "What's your name anyways, I never saw you in the halls." I asked, and she wasn't paying attention until I said that, then she looked up. "It's Sage." "Well nice to meet you Sage, did you sleep well last night?" I asked, and she nodded before walking away. She is such an awkward kid!

I had gotten a few thick pieces of bark done, and took a break. I saw Liz grab ahold of one of the guards hand, they were laughing and heading into the woods. It disgusted me that they could even think about having sex when in such a serious situation. "Peter!" I called, and he jogged over to me after putting down the wood he was working on. "Can you and Tiffany fry up some fish? I don't think anyone can work too well on an empty stomach."

He smirked and nodded before getting Tiffany and setting up the stick to roast our food. After a couple of failed attempts, they got a fire going and I couldn't help but smile at how excited they seemed to be from that little amount of victory. It wasn't home, but at least it wasn't a life sentence to solidarity.

I created my own little fire, and started to break the bark into the shape I needed. I then got more bark from the tree, and watched to make sure my fire was still going for when I needed it. "Watcha doing there Sparks?" Asked Ricky as he sat down with his sign and looked at everything I had in amusement. "Well, I figure that bark is kind if solid right? And it, for the most part keeps sap in the trees... So I'm going to get a bunch of sap and burn it onto two pieces of bark to make a flat surface, and the flat surface I will make a roof."

I smiled at my thought and tried to collect sap from the tree. "Say this works.... What will the roof be for?" "Well if I'm making it, I guess my own little hut or a medical storage area, or for our food, or..." "Alright, okay! I get it, stop the listings!" He acted like it killed him, and we laughed together. He looked down at the board and smirked before turning it to face me. He had at least an outline ready to be carved in more on the wood, it read.

"Survival Island, home to the Shark Slayer!"

I laughed at the sign, and he seemed amused by my laughter. "I love it!"

"Good Shark Sleigher, now show me this roofing. If there is a way to create shelter, my hair needs all the shelter it can get." Once again, he made me laugh and we watched very closely as the sap burnt onto the wood and held it together.

"Yes!!" We yelled and high fived, which gained attention and people gathered round to see what we had done. "Cute sign." Said the son, and he killed my entire moment of joy.

"To the Shark Sleigher!" Yelled Ricky, and everyone cheered, which made me feel a bit better and people went back to work. Ricky and I would be the roof builders, Tiffany and Pete the cooks, and the rest would have to work on the structure of the huts. By the time the food was ready, we had at least five roofs done. They weren't all that big, but per person I figured that we wouldnt need something all that big.

"Naomi, I actually was thinking. Why not just make one huge building? Because as much as I hate to admit it, not everyone is going to survive here, and so we wouldn't need a hut for everyone. It will save us time and effort if we just make one huge hut that everyone can sleep in, and it's safer." He whispered, and I thought it over before nodding in agreement.

"One big hut it is, for one big family." I said, and he nodded as we ate the rest of our fish in silence. Suddenly, one of the kids started to vomit, and cough. I saw kids surrounding him and rushed over.

"What happened?" I asked, and tried to get a good look at him, my heart beating very fast at that moment until finally one of the kids spoke up. She was crying, and kept staring at him. "He just drank some water, we're all thirsty." She cried, and that's when I saw the resemblance, they were siblings.

She held his hand and cried as the poor kid kept groaning and left his eyes closed. I looked around but didn't see a water bottle anywhere.

"What water did he drink? Who drank it, and how much?" I ordered, and they all seemed frightened. That's when I noticed how dehydrated they all looked. About five kids sat in from of me, and they all had drunken the ocean water. I guess all of the older kids new better, and had been living off their own spit for the past two days. Soon, the kids all started crying and vomiting, complaining they were thirsty, and I tried so hard not to cry. When you drink salt water it only make you thirstier, and I was scared of what might happen to them if they don't get clean water. "How much have you kids drunk?" Others had come over and examined the situation as I did.

"What can we do?" Asked the son, and I glared at him.

"Do you have any water, a pan, a canteen?" I went on, and the guards quickly handed me canteens that I didn't know they even had. "They're all empty!" I freaked, and they all shrugged. "You guys had water this entire time, but didn't share with us?" I was hurt, and looked at the poor kids. "They need water." I said as I made a fire, I put a cloth over the opening of the canteen, and filled it with ocean water. I then placed it over the fire and tried to connect the canteen to another one so that the heated water would drip over. Someone ran and gave me a leaf, and so I tied it around the two tops to make a tube like path. When it felt as though it had worked, I turned and saw that the children had no longer had their eyes open.

"How could we not have noticed them? I don't even know if this can save them, I don't know if I can save any of you'se! Here, try to get them to drink." I said, and handed Ricky the canteen and walked off to get some air. They acted like I was this big person that could solve all of their problems, but in reality I wasn't. I hadn't even sleighed the shark, I just stabbed it. The things I have seen just being here for a little bit are really weighing me down. I was not my mom, I couldn't heal people.

And even then, does she really heal people? Because I'm pretty sure it was her that was responsible for having us all sent here. I walked about ten yards from everyone and sat on the beach. I took out my pony tail and ran my fingers through my hair and looked out to the ocean. My knees were to my chest and once I felt my tears coming, I put my hands to my face and my face to my knees.

"Are you alright your highness?" I let go of my face and looked up to my left to see the son standing next to me.

"What do you want?" I asked, and he smirked.

"Just seeing if you were okay, I believe that isn't a crime." He said, and sat down beside me. "If they keep doing what you just did, those kids will eventually get better. Whether you choose to believe it or not, we need you. You obviously won't be able to save everyone, but you're at least giving it your best. They look up to you. You're their leader, and that wasn't something you signed up for, but it was given to you." I looked at him, but couldn't find any words to say. "Tomorrow we will build some more, and the fate of these kids has no responsibility on you. We will just need to keep making water." He said this before standing up and offering me his hand.

I was hesitant, but I eventually took his hand and we walked back to the group together. All eyes set on me, and I saw that a pancho was already placed over a body, it was the boy who had first been effected. A tear slipped down my cheek at the site. "Not your fault." Said the son before putting his hand on my shoulder and then walking over to the other guards.

"Someone has to stay with them and make sure they pull through or don't. I'll take first watch with someone, but we must rotate because everyone needs rest." Trying my best to be there for the group, I put a plan in motion.

"I'll take first watch." Said Ricky, but he was cut off right after.

"Actually, I will. We need someone who can handle a gun awake as well." I turned and saw the son motion to his people before heading over to me for the night. Everyone headed over to our usual sleeping spot, and a fire was made for them as they settled into sleep.

I looked down at the kids who had passed out, and frowned at the girl. I closed her jacket around her and moved her hair to the side. She would be waking up without her sibling on an island. I looked at all of the kids and something hit me.

Most of these kids were of Sage's age group, so why isn't she effected? I looked up and she was already fast asleep with the group of kids, but she was in between two guys so I know they didn't sing her a song to sleep. That child sure was something, I just can't put my finger on it. I gave the kids some more water, and then plopped down on the shore near the son. "No one knows your name." I said, and he laughed before smirking at me.

"That's because no one asked." When I continued to give him my are you done? look, he nodded his head and looked out at sea. "It's Jason." I nodded as he took off his shoes, scootched up a bit, and dug them into the sand while the water washed over them and then back into the seas. "So are we going to sit here in an awkward silence for the next seven, eight or so hours or are we going to talk?" He asked and I sighed, took off my shoes and headed to the sea as well.

"What's there to talk about?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"So let's get to know each other better. I mean let's face it, we aren't going anywhere anytime soon." I rolled my eyes at his remark. I mean I'm sure they won't really leave us here forever, right? "Okay, so I'll start." He said and shifted to face me. "My name is Jason. I am currently trapped on an island where my father left me to die. Oh!, and my favorite color's purple." I couldn't help but smirk at the last part, and he smiled at me.

"Okay fine, I'm Naomi."

"Her Highness the Shark Sleigher!" Which caused me to laugh.

"Single kid, one friend, parents never home, now left on an island to die, and I'm pretty sure my mother is partly responsible for it." I said, and he laughed.

"I've seen worse." He smirked and shoved me, and I nodded before looking the other way. "Look, we're going to be stuck here for awhile and were both jacked up, so let's just start over huh?" I looked over to him and realized that he and his hand out for me to shake it. "I don't bite." He laughed, and I hesitantly reached out myself and shook his hand. "Not so hard now is it?" He smiled, and I smirked before we both stared out to sea. "Why do you separate yourself from the others?"

"I- it's not like that, I was set aside by wealth because we lived in a broke neighborhood, and I was seen as a rich snob by everyone but one person. The only person who took the time to get to know me was my one true friend, Mandy, but she was sent with the other group and I don't know if she's even alive."

"Woah! let's not get worried, I'm sure that she's fine and in charge of her group if she's anything like you." He said, and I nodded before staring out in the waves and focusing onto the chest on the tiny island out in the ocean.

"I sure do hope so." I stared out for a little while, and flinched when he grabbed my chin to have me face him.

"She's fine Naomi." He seemed to feel a little bad that I flinched, and took his hand back, then scooted away a bit. I nodded before getting up and getting the kids some more to drink. After I had finished letting the last kid drink, I noticed Sage laying down. Didn't she go to sleep awhile ago with the others?

I noted her mysteria, and sat back down on the beach next to Jason. "You noticed the girl as well right?" I looked over at him surprised, and he smirked.

"I take the groups safety into mind as well." I laughed and I nodded before turning to him.

"So what do you think about her?" I asked, and he shrugged his shoulders.

"None of those younger kids seem familiar to me as the people my father took." He said, and I nodded before shaking off a shiver. He looked at me confused and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Still getting over that your dad is evil." I laughed, I didn't mean anything by it but he seemed angered by it.

"Well like you said, by the seems of it, this is your moms fault anyways and so she's just as evil." He said that with so much anger and attitude, I just froze, and Ricky came over.

"I can take someones spot, I'm not tired."

"Have it your way." I said, and quickly stood up and left, looking back once at an angry looking Jason staring out at sea and Ricky looking confused.

I walked down the sand, and kicked at stones in my way. This is exactly why I can't have friends, once they find out about my mother they will just turn on me again. What was my mother up to, and why did she send us here? Why can't I ever just have a normal happy life? I heard a twig snap in the forest and darted my attention over, but didn't see anything. Must be another one of those animals. I watched for a couple more seconds before looking back out to sea and heading on for walking. I heard another twig snap, and reached for my knife but...... Ughhh I left it back at camp!!!!

I hope it's not a big animal!!! I waited and laughed at how jumpy I was, but I couldn't shake off this creepy feeling as though someone was watching me. I turned to face the sea once more before heading back, but I heard footsteps. I thought it was Jason, and decided to apologize. "Look Jason I-" I took a blow to my head and eventually everything went black.
