As per usual I will reply to any comment posted within the next 48hrs! It's honestly so much fun talking to all of you!

|| Chapter 30 ||

"You locked him in the trunk?" I ask Isaac with wide eyes as Drew slowly climbs out of Isaac's trunk.

Isaac opens his hands in a placating manner, "I gave him snacks and water!"

"You left him in here and still proceeded to eat breakfast with my family for almost an hour? Are you insane?" I ask him loudly, taking a step back so Drew to stand.

"Well yeah, I locked someone in a trunk," he laughs, waving it off.

Drew ignores my presence and glares at Isaac, "Dude, what the actual fuck?"

Isaac leans his head back and stares at Drew like he's the insane one, "Why are you acting like this is my fault, you're the one that was acting like a pussy and ran away."

"You kidnapped me!" Drew yells at him, stomping towards him with an expression full of rage. I immediately walk into his path and stand in between Isaac and Drew. Drew stops abruptly, blinking a few times.

"Allegedly kidnapped," Isaac raises his hand to add quotations to the word 'allegedly'. Oh Isaac.

"There was nothing alleged about that," Drew's voice is still too loud as he points at the trunk.

Isaac sighs, "Stop being a baby you were in there an hour max and again I gave you snacks and water." I take that moment to look into the trunk and see that there are a few bags of chips scattered and three bottles of water.

"I'm not a fucking hamster that you can leave somewhere for a while and hope it's still alive when you come back!" Drew runs both hands through his hair, messing it up completely. He stops as if coming to the realization of something, "How did you even know where I was?"

Isaac gives Drew a side long glance, "Dude, you literally have no other connections to hide you out but your friends, it was obvious."

I give Drew an incredulous look, the pieces clicking together in my head. "You were at Jesse's this whole time? Your mom said you had to 'get away'." I place a hand on my forehead and start pacing in between them. "I thought that meant you going to stay with your dad or some shit not ten minutes down the fucking street!"

"I did get away until this asshole kidnapped me from Jesse's basement in the middle of daylight!"

I turn to face Isaac, my anger taking a metaphorical backseat for the moment. "Yeah how did you do that?"

Isaac gives me a wink, earning a scoff from Drew. "Easiest shit I've ever done. I waited for Jesse to leave, rang the doorbell and spoke to his mom. She let me in because she recognized me from his Instagram feed," he pulls a pose and I snap my fingers in his face to get him focused again. "Anyway long story short I found Drew in the basement and then got him in the trunk," when he finishes talking he points at the trunk as if it was obvious.

Giving up on Isaac, I spin on my heel to look at Drew, "How the hell did he get you in the trunk?"

Drew grits his teeth, looking away for a few seconds before staring at my shoulder so he doesn't have to make eye contact. "He said that he had some of Jesse's video games in his trunk so I went to help him and when he opened the trunk he shoved me in and slammed it closed." He glances at the ground, his face turning red in embarrassment.

My whole body deflates at the complete innocence, "Why do you have to be so damn nice all the time?"

He gives me a glare, "Oh I'm sorry that I'm not more cold hearted like you."

That comment snaps something in me. I give him a disbelieving stare, "I am not cold hearted-"

"You literally screamed to the heavens about how you don't love me-"

"After you told me that you're the only person who can tolerate me! So yeah, I yelled, but you don't get to spew the innocent crap because you kept pushing me!" I take a deep breath. "You're supposed to be my friend first."

Drew points at Isaac, "Well he seems to have taken my place."

My laugh is dry and sarcastic. "Are you ever going to let go of this whole idea you have in your head that I'm in love with Isaac?"

Isaac looks at me with a weirded out expression, "Ew."

I throw a hand up in Isaac's direction, "See? Isaac was never an option, Drew."

Isaac shuffles his feet until he's standing next to me, "I mean, I could have been an option, let's not lie to ourselves here, I'm fine as fuck."

Ever so slowly I turn my attention to Isaac, a blank expression on my face. "You are not helping."

Isaac holds a hand on his chest, "I'm a fragile man Tess, I need validation sometimes okay?"

I grit my teeth before speaking, "Go inside before I validate my foot in your ass."

He gives me a little smirk. "Kinky, I'm down." My eyes widen and he immediately starts walking backwards towards my front door. He offers us a final salute before slipping inside.

I turn back to Drew, "You thought that was your competition?"

He takes a deep breath, angling his head to the side, "You guys have just had such a great connection this summer, I was jealous."

"Drew," I offer him a tight-lipped smile, "You're my best friend. I don't throw that title around like it's nothing."

"I know, but you and I don't have that connection like you and him, it drives me crazy because it's so effortless for the both of you."

It's annoying because I want to be so mad at him for pushing me but at the same time he's just a person who deserves a happy ending. "I've never had to force our friendship. Now, I don't know if you do," his head shoots to face me and he shakes his head quickly, "then I don't understand what you're trying to tell me."

"I'm trying to tell you that over the last few months you and I have drifted apart." He runs a hand through his hair.

I arch an eyebrow at him, "Yeah, because you were trying to make me jealous by using Brianna so I started hanging out with Isaac. I have no time for little games."

He raises his hands in a placating manner. "Using Brianna these last few weeks was a mistake, okay, I know I screwed up."

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" I turn around, placing my fingers on the bridge of my nose before whirling back to face him. "You were with her for two years-"

"And I loved her those two years!" His voice is strained from trying to contain his anger.

I give him a sad smile, "But not the way she loved you." His angered expression crumbles and I can see the guilt shining in his eyes. "She broke up with you because she could see how you felt about me. She told me."

He opens his mouth as if to explain something but thinks better of it and shuts it for a few moments. "I'm sorry. For pushing you, I just," he looks me in the eye, "I just wanted you to love me back." His body slumps against the car, crossing his ankle over the other.

"I'm sure by now you realise how stupid that plan was?" He barely gives me a nod in response as he stares at the ground. "Drew, I am sorry for yelling at you. If I could take it back I would." I dip my head down so that he's forced to look at my face, "And I do love you, but I'm not in love with you and I won't feel guilty for that."

"You shouldn't have to," he whispers back.

"There is one thing though...I still want to be your best friend, and you be mine," I offer him a small encouraging smile.

"Of course I want that Tess but..." it's the but that makes my relieved expression drop, "I think I need time, to sort my head out. To...get over you." He scratches the back of his head. "I know you don't feel the same, I do and I will forever want to kick my own ass for how I went about it but that doesn't just shut off the feelings. I need to deal with it myself."

I bite the inside of my cheek, "Okay, that's fair. But just try to figure it out soon if you can, preferably before you leave for D.C."

His eyes shine with amusement, "Deal."

"Okay then, I'll get Isaac to take you home now," I say jerking my thumb in the direction of my front door. I turn on my heel and head to the door but give him a glance over the shoulder, "Please don't kill Isaac, he can be stupid at times but he means well."

He chuckles lightly shaking his head, "I make no promises." I give him a grin in return and face the door again.

Before I can reach for the handle, the door is pulled open from the inside and I'm immediately greeted by the rage-filled faces of my brothers. I raise an eyebrow at the both of them but they ignore me and walk straight to Drew. My other siblings and Isaac follow silently.

"Now you listen here Andrew," Sebastian threatens taking the lead from Harry who is just a step behind him. "If you ever make my sister cry again, I'll shove my shoe so far up your ass you'll be able to taste the leather."

Harry doesn't say anything. He lets his calm and still demeanor do all the threatening for him as he crosses his arms over his chest and glares at Drew.

Drew, the poor thing, has the decency to look a little nervous from the sight of them and even throws his hands up in surrender. But the thing that really puts the fear of God into him is when Maddie steps out from behind the boys and stands directly in front of Drew. She angles her head slightly to look up at him. Sebastian and Harry flank her sides.

It's amazing how she can be so small but look like she's staring down at you even when you tower over her.

"If you ever make my sister feel sad again, I will hunt you down and sell all your secrets to the highest bidder, got it?" She gives him a smile that looks more like she's baring her teeth at him. Charlotte's face is wary compared to the impressed facial expressions my brothers are giving her.

Drew nods his head rapidly, eyes wide.

She gives him one nod in return, "Good, then we're done here." With that she turns around and walk back inside without a single glance in anyone's direction.

Sebastian and Harry follow Maddie's footsteps. Charlotte and Sophie step to Drew acting a lot more calm than my previous siblings. "Drew, you know how much we love you like family," Sophie starts, wringing her fingers together, "but I suggest the next time you try to tell a girl that you like her, don't use words like 'tolerate', it sends the wrong message."

"We hope to see you soon, figure things out but don't let this situation turn you away from the people that love you...in a platonic way of course." Charlotte looks over her shoulder, giving me a sheepish smile.

Isaac puts a hand on my shoulder and squeezes once before moving closer to Drew. "No hard feelings?"

Drew glances at Isaac, looks at me for a second before nodding his head, clasping Isaac's outstretched hand, giving it a firm shake. "Never lock me in a trunk again."

"Next time, don't be stupid enough to get locked in a trunk," Isaac replies, unlocking the car. He turns to blow me a kiss before climbing in the front seat. I roll my eyes with a small grin on my face. Drew gives me a thin-lipped smile and climbs into the passenger seat of the car.

Isaac lowers the window. He slips on his sunglasses, giving me a crooked grin, "You're helping me with something on Wednesday."

I raise an eyebrow. "I am?"

He gives me a salute and I give him one back but instead of two fingers, I flip him off instead. He laughs and drives down the driveway.

"I don't know about you but I'm in need of a manicure," my mothers voice breaks the silence and we all turn to face her. Our father is standing behind her, stone-faced. Harry, Sebastian and Maddie are next to them.

"How much of that did you hear?" I ask curiously.

My mother looks up from her nails and to me. "Us?" She gestures to herself and our dad. "Nothing we only came outside when Isaac drove off. Look! I told you I chipped that nail," she exclaims, holding her hand up in front of my fathers face.

He examines it for a few seconds before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his credit card, handing it over to our mother. "It's on me."

She grins, standing on her toes to kiss him quickly before waving his card in the air, "Since your father is paying we're getting pedicures too, who's in?"

All the girls throw their hands in the air but I keep mine folded across my chest. "Isn't your credit and dad's credit card linked?"

She gives me a flat stare, "Obviously, but I feel a lot less guilty when it's your fathers card than mine." She offers me a grin.

"Oh," I trail off with a shrug, "Then count me in."

She claps her hands, "That's my girl! Lottie, Honey you're driving, mom's gonna have a couple mimosa's while we're there."

Charlotte shakes her head but catches the keys my father throws at her.

"Call Olivia, see if she can be ready in five minutes, we'll go to that cute café for lunch afterwards," my mother says to no one in particular.

My father looks at my brothers, "Who wants Barbeque for lunch?"

Harry raises his hand, Sebastian throws his fist in the air, "Score!"

I open my mouth to ask if I can switch parental outings but Sophie links her elbow with mine, "Don't even think about it, this is mom's way of distracting you."

My lips form a pout, "But I want ribs."

"I'll take you for ribs this coming weekend then," she promises pulling me along towards the front door so we can all get dressed for the day.

"I can't wait for all of you to be over twenty-one, then we can go get cocktails together," our mother grins, pulling dad up the stairs to their room to get ready.
